00:38Congratulations on the new album, Gospel Music.
00:39It's kind of where you started, really.
00:40I started it, yeah.
00:45Most black American children start off in church and we're taught all these great things
00:50in church, but the most amazing thing we get taught is the musical side of life, you know,
00:55so it's beautiful.
00:56It was with your grandmother, wasn't it?
00:59Yeah, my grandmother.
01:00It felt like actually coming home, you know, recording the gospel album and we'd been talking
01:04about it for years and we finally got it together.
01:07It's nice.
01:08How deep do those personal and musical memories still flow in you, Marsha?
01:12Oh, look, I think they're the basics of who I am, you know, and you learn all these great
01:18things in church, but in our churches, we had like a bass player, a drummer, you know,
01:23a guitar player.
01:24School churches.
01:25It was like the hallelujah church.
01:26It was very nice.
01:27Nice and loud.
01:28And they'd go for many hours.
01:29Oh, they do.
01:30But the great thing at the end, they feed you.
01:31I've been to a few of those churches in the States.
01:32They are fantastic.
01:33Pretty nice now.
01:34Some of the best experiences of my life.
01:35Wonderful community.
01:36Yeah, yeah, and it's good to see so much love.
01:37I mean, as there normally is in the church, doubly so in those churches.
