Sharrow Vale Road is blloming lately with plenty of new shops, old favourites and plenty of places to get a pastry. It really is one of Sheffield's best coffee culture streets. The Star asked fans what their favourite place to go is and where they recommend?

00:00Thank you, it's Alistair from the Sheffield Star, the newspaper. We're down this day asking people
00:03what their favourite things are about Shower Vale Road. It's looking really great these days,
00:06lots of shops have opened. I'm asking people what their recommendations are.
00:09What's your favourite place here? It changes depending what I want. So I've just bought my
00:14friend who lives in Corn, who always wanted to come down here because she loves independent shops.
00:21So the hardware shop, big favourite, love the hardware shop. I like also, I suppose,
00:33Dyson Place, all the stuff in Dyson Place. I really like Perfectionary, the bread shop,
00:40because they make their own bread and it's not as expensive as Seven Hills, but I love Seven Hills
00:44coffee. So I have a granddaughter, so the shoe shop is absolutely brilliant.
00:51Like the top, Pond Kitchen, absolute top spot for like cookies and cakes and pastries and
00:57like fun drinks. But we spend quite a lot of time down here, don't we? Between these two.
01:02Yeah, we do. Love this place, corn stuff, and then across the road, Tonko,
01:09it's like probably the best bakery I've ever been to.
01:12I like the fact that it feels really independent. It's still a section of Sheffield where you can
01:20go and get independent cafes and independent restaurants, and the quality is really good,
01:28and it's just a really nice vibe. I don't know how often you come down here.
01:33Eh, probably every other week, because there is always something. So Christmas,
01:40always buy presents here. You want to shop locally, you want to support local shops.
01:46That's how you keep the local economy going. It's important we keep local shops open for
01:50older people. So I try and buy quite a few presents down here. So there's a lovely gift
01:55shop down there. Sometimes get my nails done, but not today, obviously. So it depends what
02:02I'm looking for, but yeah. So we regularly go to Cornerstone for brunch and cocktails.
02:16Strictly daytime, come here on the night times. How often would you say you visit?
02:20We are a bit limited to daytime. We have young children at home,
02:24so I've heard the nightlife is good, but we're a bit more sort of brunchy-lunchy.
02:30We're usually chasing toddlers down here, to be fair.
02:35How long have you been visiting Sharavel Road?
02:38Since birth, actually. Literally since I was a kid, so 28 years.
02:44Yeah, I think for me, we moved to the area about two years ago. So
02:49yeah, any time we go for a walk, I want to go for a coffee walk down Sharavel Road.
