00:00After a rough start, French authorities say crime rates and security threats have been
00:05slashed since the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris kicked off last week.
00:11The competition's early days were marred in chaos as the country's major high-speed railway
00:16network shut down and global online services crashed.
00:19There have been 200 arrests, 180 of which were police officers.
00:24We have less than 24% of violent thefts in Paris and in the Petite Couronne, the Parisian suburbs.
00:30Less than 10% of vehicle thefts and the total number of items of delinquency has largely
00:36decreased, probably due to the hyper-presence of the police and the gendarmerie on the public
00:42road.
00:43The Interior Minister said police are not aware of any French organised crime plots
00:49but had been pre-emptively apprehending individuals believed to be lone actors.
00:54The Olympics will end on August 11.
