00:00Let's see how the Philippine Coast Guard's cleanup drive in Noveleta, Cavite is doing after the oil spill and the storm that hit the area.
00:09First news live, Jomer Aparicio.
00:12Jomer.
00:16Ivan, good morning. The cleanup drive of the Philippine Coast Guard and some volunteers started here in Long Beach Resort in Barangay San Rafael 4 in Noveleta, Cavite.
00:26This used to be a tourist destination but if you can see around me, it's still full of trash that was washed away by the storm Karina and Habagat.
00:35The problem is that the oil spilled from the empty Terra Nova that hit Limay Bataan last week also got stuck in some trash.
00:43According to some fishermen who talked to GMI Integrated News, the oil spill here is not that bad.
00:49However, it is now prohibited for them to go out for three days to avoid catching contaminated fish that can cause food poisoning.
00:57Aside from Noveleta, the government of Cavite said that the oil spill has also affected the towns and villages of Bacoor, Kawit, Rosario, Tanzan, Naik, Maragondon, and Ternate.
01:08As of now, the state of calamity has increased in the aforementioned areas.
01:12The provincial government is now preparing the aid that will be distributed to the more than 25,000 affected fishermen.
01:21I hope that it will be gone in three days.
01:24Because you know, we have to pay for the children to go to school.
01:28We also have to pay for electricity and water.
01:30I hope that it won't go on like that.
01:32We have already paid for the oil spill.
01:34We will fix it so that when they declare that they can go out, the oil spill will be good.
01:44Meanwhile, Ivansa, the cleanup drive continues here in the area.
01:48The provincial government of Cavite said that it is also preparing to send aid to the affected fishermen.
01:55And that is the first news from Noveleta, Cavite.
01:58I am Jomer Apresto for GMA Integrated News.
