Eye of the Coach #93: Andy Murray was the ultimate champion in terms of mindset

Patrick Mouratoglou believes that Andy Murray was the ultimate champion in terms of his mindset, with his resilience and determination to carry on his greatest traits.

Mouratoglou explains that, although the end of Murray’s career was ruined by injury, his resolve to come back and continue playing is as big an achievement in itself as the titles he won.

Despite playing in an unprecedented era of greatness, Murray was able to assert himself as one of the leading players of his generation. But, ultimately, Mouratoglou believes it is Murray’s resilience that he will be remembered for.

“If I have one word to describe him, it is resilience… It is what will stay when we talk about him, think about him,” Mouratoglou said.

“I don’t know if people understood or not that he wanted to be back at the top of Grand Slams.

“He really deeply believed, that is also one of his trademarks.”
