00:00Senator James Lankford here. There's some breaking news from overnight from the
00:03death of Ismail Haniyeh that is the senior political leader for Hamas. He
00:08died in Tehran last night when he was attending the events quote-unquote
00:13celebrating the new leadership in Iran which is basically the same leadership
00:16they've always had because Khomeini is the one that's still the supreme leader
00:20there. This is another reminder yet again that Hamas is really connected to Iran.
00:24Their funding stream is through Iran that Hamas cannot carry out the attacks
00:29against Israel without Iranian backing. Same with Hezbollah that nothing
00:33happens in that region attacking Israel, destabilizing the whole region
00:38without Iran's engagement on it. So whether it's the Houthis in Yemen,
00:42whether it's Hamas in Gaza, or whether it's Hezbollah in Lebanon, it is all
00:47backed by Iran and we had yet another reminder of that with the senior Hamas
00:51leadership being in Iran and that's where he faced his end. So continue to be
00:56able to pray for peace in the entire area as we see some very difficult days
01:00ahead for Israel and for the entire region. We pray for safety for all
01:05individuals, civilian and military alike, and for an end to all the fighting but we
01:09certainly desire to see an end to terrorism in the area as well.
