00:03was smuggled by DTI in the biggest operation in a warehouse in Plaridel, Bulacan.
00:08Benji Durango is the reporter.
00:15The price of this SmartLED TV, sold in a warehouse in Plaridel, Bulacan, is around Php 30,000.
00:20It would have been cheap, but it was blocked by DTI.
00:23The reason?
00:24Here, there's no ICC.
00:25It is not subject to the product standard and import commodity clearance of the country.
00:30ICC and OPS Mark prove that the product is safe, good quality,
00:38and we are sure that it will not be a problem in our lives and in our products.
00:43DTI has guidelines to ensure that a product is safe.
00:47It should be of high quality, safe to use,
00:50the name of the product is marked, the manufacturer and its address,
00:53the ingredients, instructions on how to use it, and packaging.
00:56The PS Mark should be attached to the boxes of each product,
00:59and the ICC sticker on the product itself.
01:01The products found in the warehouse in Plaridel do not have this.
01:05It is an obligation. There is a penalty if it is not attached.
01:07It means that we can see that there is no ICC or PS Mark.
01:12It is likely that they are not certified.
01:14Substandard products are imported from China and Korea.
01:17Since DTI is not certified on the requirements of importation,
01:21it is likely that these products are smuggled.
01:23It is sold secretly at a low price,
01:26and it is usually done through online shopping apps.
01:28ICC stickers are shown in stores,
01:31but they are not attached to the products that are prohibited by the law.
01:34But DTI will know first if the sticker is genuine and if the products are safe.
01:39They still need to answer the administrative case filed by DTI
01:44and the products that were smuggled cannot be moved.
01:47That is why we caught them.
01:49We did a test buy.
01:50We have concerned citizens and consumers who bought from them
01:55and they said that there is no ICC sticker.
01:58There were more than 24,000 items that were substandard and smuggled
02:03that amounted to more than P43 million pesos.
02:05The largest among the three months of operation of DTI Task Force Kalasag.
02:09The task force aims to prevent illegal products from being sold
02:13and to ensure the safety of the consumer.
02:15Anyone can be a part of this.
02:18This is the ICC verification system app.
02:21It is downloadable.
02:22Even an ordinary consumer can install it on their cell phone.
02:27They just need to put it in front of the ICC sticker.
02:30We can see the details if it matches the product.
02:33In this way, the government will increase the collection of goods
02:37that our countrymen can use.
