00:00Coming to Wales has been a real special treat as a filmmaker.
00:05These Welsh landscapes are literally the biggest playing fields for narrative action I've ever seen.
00:11Hi, I'm Lonnie Parasteer. I'm the executive producer and the director on Season 2 of HBO's House of the Dragon.
00:22Welcome to Wales, my friends. We are at the foot of what is going to be Harrenhal.
00:27You're going to see some unbelievable man-made structures that lead into a digital landscape that we're going to put on screen for you.
00:34And it is absolutely the biggest thing you've ever seen.
00:37And the landscape that we have here, which is the former location of giant man-made slate mines,
00:43is going to become the foundation for us of our castle of Harrenhal.
00:48Working in Wales is an incredible experience. You can have four seasons in one day.
00:57What does that mean? Rain, sun, clouds, rain, sun, clouds.
01:01Because we have these changing seasons, because we have these erratic designs, because we have this living, breathing anger of an environment,
01:09we get these vast, green landscapes that are pushed by strong winds, that are downpoured on by strong rains
01:16and basically become the rage and beauty of the world that is House of the Dragon.
01:23Our beaches go on forever, and that's where Driftmark is. Our green, rolling landscapes become the Riverlands.
01:30In addition to that, the low-lying clouds on the mountains evoke the height of the Vale.
01:35And so when we're in the Vale here, Wales provides those clouds in camera.
01:40And it's these kinds of elements, these clouds, this slate, that make this show great, because we're here making it in a real place.
01:49I feel extremely fortunate to work with our local crews, extremely fortunate to create sets inside of these beautiful landscapes,
01:57extremely fortunate to basically craft our story in Season 2 for House of the Dragon.
