New squad to combat flesh trade

The Kuala Lumpur police have created a special task force to combat vice activities, including prostitution.

City police chief Commissioner Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the task force's main objective is to crack down on all forms of the flesh trade, be it street prostitution or that which operates at hotels, massage parlours and food courts.

00:15main objective is to crack down on all forms of the flesh trade, whether it occurs on the
00:20streets, in hotels, massage parlours or food courts.
00:24Numerous operations against sex services, including online ones, have been conducted
00:29over the past two to three weeks.
00:31Commissioner Rusti emphasised that these efforts are ongoing and include joint operations with
00:37the Immigration Department and Kuala Lumpur City Hall, DBKL.
00:41The police will collaborate with DBKL to find the best approach to tackling premises involved
00:47in illegal activities.
00:50He asserted that existing laws are being applied to their fullest extent to ensure criminal
00:55charges in prostitution cases.
00:57At a press conference on June 27, Commissioner Rusti revealed that nearly 1,700 people were
01:04detained in connection with prostitution activities following 409 raids in the first half of the
01:10year.
01:11He also noted that prostitution activities have been detected in every district in Kuala
01:16Lumpur except for Putrajaya, and such cases are often investigated under Section 372 of
01:23the Penal Code, which targets pimps and prostitutes.
