02:51What has happened to us?
02:53We've had our independence for more than 20 years.
02:56By third world standards, we have a well-educated elite.
03:00We had a productive farming economy.
03:02We have minerals.
03:03And we discovered a few years ago that we had oil, a lot of oil.
03:08Yet today we're importing food that we should be growing.
03:11We are a bankrupt nation, and we have an international reputation for large-scale
03:15corruption.
03:16Many of our people are unhappy, and some even hungry.
03:20What has gone wrong?
03:22This is what I set out to explore.
03:24We sensed that change had to come to our nation, that our people wouldn't continue to accept
03:29the inefficient, corrupt civilian government of President Chagare.
