00:00When it comes to pets, I think Kuya Kim is one of the ultimate fur dads here in Showbiz Land.
00:08Okay, of course, there are animals for the land, for the sea, there are air animals.
00:15All of those have a pet, Kuya Kim.
00:18So now, Kuya Kim, let's start with his pets, Pagong.
00:24So, Kuya Kim, where did your love for turtles come from?
00:32You know, in Mars camps, there are a lot of Pagong species.
00:35There are land turtles, and there are Pagong that can swim, and there are sea turtles.
00:42I started taking care of Pagong when I was young.
00:44I have red-eared turtles that can swim.
00:49I thought all Pagong were just like that.
00:51As I got older, I realized that there are Pagong that are called tortoises or land turtles.
00:57I took care of them.
00:59So, I've been taking care of turtles since I was a child, but seriously, for about 20 years now.
01:05As long as you take care of Pagong, Mars and Mars, pet lovers, this is what we should know.
01:12Welcome back to my humble home.
01:15And what we're going to feature today is my collection of Pagong.
01:20I have a lot of animals that I take care of here, but one of my favorite species are the turtle species.
01:25I have a lot of Pagong here from different breeds.
01:28Let's start with what you can see in front of me.
01:30This is called the sulcata tortoise.
01:32The sulcata tortoise is found in South Africa.
01:35It's the third largest tortoise in the world.
01:38Actually, I breed them, and they only get smaller every year.
01:41And we can see that these tortoises are really fond of the sun.
01:45That's why they swim in the sun because they are reptiles and cold-blooded.
01:49They have no ability to thermoregulate or to heat their own blood system.
01:54This is called the aldabra tortoise.
01:56The aldabra tortoise is the second largest tortoise in the world.
01:59It's very long-lived.
02:01I think it can live up to 300 or 400 years.
02:05That's how old this tortoise is.
02:07So, the aldabra tortoise has been with me, this Pagong, for about 15 years already.
02:12And it's this big.
02:14But did you know that this is still a baby?
02:16This is one of the most beautiful tortoises in the world.
02:18It's called the radiata tortoise.
02:21Why is it called the radiata tortoise?
02:22Because when we see its carapace or its shell, it has radiated patterns.
02:27But do you know that it's perfect for its camouflage?
02:30Because it can be seen in the savannas when there's grass.
02:35That pattern on the back makes it a perfect camouflage.
02:39It can hide from its predators.
02:42Now that we've seen the tortoises, tortoises are land turtles.
02:46I'll show you now my water turtles, the Pagongs that can be seen in the water.
02:53This is an alligator snapping turtle.
02:55When you see its carapace or its back, it looks like a lizard's back.
02:59But it's a snapping turtle because when you see its mouth, it's open.
03:03If you put your hand there, it'll snap.
03:06If you notice, it has a red mark on the tip of its tongue.
03:11That's its lure or its bait for fish.
03:15Fish that come near it think it's a bait.
03:17When they come near it, it'll snap and catch them.
03:21So, alligator snapping turtle.
03:26Now, this is a strange turtle called the matamata.
03:28Matamatas are found in South America.
03:31That's why it's called the matamata.
03:33Mata is a Spanish word meaning death.
03:36Because it looks scary, but do you know how harmless this turtle is?
03:40It doesn't have teeth.
03:42You can hold it by its mouth and it won't bite you because it doesn't have teeth.
03:45You know how they catch their prey?
03:47They open their mouths and suck the water when a fish comes near them.
03:53Now, this turtle is called the eastern snake-necked turtle.
03:57We can see its long leg.
04:00That's why it's called the snake-necked turtle.
04:02Why?
04:02Over thousands of years, this turtle wanted to reach food that's far away.
04:10So, its leg kept getting longer.
04:13So, unlike an ordinary turtle that has a short neck,
04:15this one has a long neck.
04:18That's why it's called the eastern long-necked or snake-necked turtle.
04:21So, I showed you two species of turtles.
04:25I still have more animals here.
04:26I won't show you all of them.
04:28We'll come back to it.
