00:00You're at the A2 screening this film. How cool is this?
00:03This is great. Yeah, this venue is perfect. This lends itself to what we're doing so well
00:07because it's a stadium. It's a stadium and it has a black and red sort of theme to it,
00:12which fits with our movie exactly. We got them to change the whole thing for us.
00:16Oh, I love that. Let's talk about your inspiration behind Cooper. Where did you get it from?
00:20Reading a lot of books, honestly. Kind of a boring process, but I had to get in the
00:24mind of someone who has psychopathy and somebody who could be a serial killer, and the only
00:28way to do that is by reading books. You can't really go and meet a serial killer and ask
00:31him how he does it, right? So, yeah, this was all generally just kind of doing background
00:37research and then spending time with Knight, trying to figure out exactly what sort of
00:40a tone he wants for the character. Yeah, and that's it. This is the result.
00:43You're a bookworm.
00:45Have to be, yeah.
00:46I love that hat. Let's talk about Knight. How amazing was it to work with him and how
00:50does his brain work?
00:51You'll have to ask him that, but I think that Knight's one of the warmest and most kind
00:55of intelligent and quietest and most easygoing directors I've ever worked with, so it's totally
01:01in contrast to the scripts that he writes and the kind of worlds he creates, so I love
01:06working with him. I've worked with him a hundred times, and he knew that when we met 20 years
01:10ago. It just took him 19 years to call me.
01:12More, more, more. What about the whole concert concept? What was it like being in a concert
01:18and acting and how was that?
01:20Well, I mean, the concert is obviously made for the film, so we knew what we were getting
01:24into, and it was really fantastic to watch Celica create these 14 songs that are all
01:29originals that both kind of set the stage for this pop concert, but also are kind of
01:34the interior monologue of my character at times, so it's a great soundtrack as well,
01:37which is phenomenal, like a phenomenal thing for her to accomplish. It's unusual. She's
01:43really talented.
01:44It's been a lot of fun because Knight and I tried to make this movie as much of a romp
01:47as possible, as much fun for people as possible, and I think we succeeded. I think it has a
01:53lot of ups and downs, and I think it's really funny, and the character is wild, and to
01:57tell you the truth, when a character this broad and cool comes along, you have to take
02:03up the challenge because it's very rare for something like this to happen.
02:06And can you sum it up for me in a sentence, the whole film?
02:09It's been summed up. I mean, it's take your daughter to a concert day with a serial killer
02:15dad, you know?
