Rob Tongeman is preparing for Wigan and Leigh Short Film Festival 2024, celebrating and showcasing up-and-coming filmmakers from across the world. The two-day festival which includes comedies, dramas, documentaries and animation begins Friday 20th and Saturday 21st September, held at Leigh Film Factory at Leigh Spinners Mill. The festival is linked to the nationally-recognised Leigh Film Society, which has received the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, the highest honour community groups can be awarded.

00:00So we're here at Lee Film Factory within Lee Spinner's Mill. This is our own independent
00:07cinema. We're fast approaching having been open for two years now. We've got quite a good
00:13customer base, established bunch of customers, quite a few regulars. We do a lot of indie film,
00:19we do children's screenings, reduced rates, you can hire the venue as well. So this year Wigan
00:27Short Film Festival is supporting its 10th year now. We're having a bumper year with submissions
00:35reaching from across the world, international and across the UK. It's a very difficult job
00:40at the moment to select films for the festival because there's such good quality among these
00:46films from both large and small projects. The festival has been changed this year to involve
00:54more different individual film categories, so different genres, and we'll be showing,
01:00we have two nights, we'll be showing some of the categories on Friday night, the remaining
01:06categories on Saturday night. So it's two events. You can buy tickets for both of these on the
