00:44To come here and to be able to get over that, to be able to come here and compete
00:51and to be able to win a bronze medal is a phenomenal achievement.

01:03And I think you just know how hard it is for sportsmen and what they go through.
01:08And so much depends on just these few days.
01:12In a lot of their lives, I can imagine the kind of pressure that it involves for a lot of these sports.
01:20Because this is the pinnacle of their sport.
01:22And the Olympics is, you know, it doesn't get bigger than the Olympics for a lot of those sports.
01:29And for her to be able to do that at this age, to be able to put that performance under pressure
01:35was a phenomenal achievement.
01:36A great congratulations to her and truly a great day for Indian sport.
01:40What an inspiring story for so many young boys and girls back home in India as well.
01:44The only small chance that I had of experiencing something like this,
01:48and obviously not the Olympics, but there was cricket in the Commonwealth Games.
01:52I think it was in 1998 if I'm not mistaken.
01:54That's right.
01:55It was Malaysia.
01:56And India sent a team, but at the same time we had a series in Canada, in Toronto.
02:03We were playing Pakistan in Toronto.
02:05And they split the Indian team into two parts.
02:09They sort of had one set of boys go to Toronto and one set of boys go to Malaysia.
02:14And I was hoping and praying that I would be in the team to Malaysia.

02:20Yeah, I admit it. It was just for the easy runs.
02:22But no, I think, you know, just the...
02:26So you've grown up with the Olympics.
02:28I think if you've been a sports fan, if you love sport as I have,
02:33you know, we've grown up watching the Olympics.
02:36I mean, my earliest memories are of, you know, Carl Lewis winning the Olympics
02:40and television coming into India in those days.
02:43And, you know, all of us glued to those television sets to watch, you know,
02:47watch these great athletes perform and play.
02:50And so many of these, so many of the Indian athletes as well, you know,
02:53who participated in these Olympic Games,
02:55we've always wanted to be part of a great event.
02:58We have our great events in cricket.
02:59You know, we have our World Cups.
03:01But they're individual events.
03:02They're only cricketers at the events.
03:04The greatest cricketers on the world who come together in one country
03:07to play those great events.
03:09But here to be in this kind of environment, this kind of energy, this kind of vibe,
03:13it's a dream come true for any sportsman to be a part of that.
03:17And it always felt that, you know, cricket should be involved in events like this.
03:23It's truly a great game.
03:24It's followed and watched by so many people in the world.
03:27But it's just fantastic, you know, from someone like me who's now really a fan,
03:32for me to be able to see cricket in the Olympics,
03:36that's going to be a part of this.
03:38I think it's truly phenomenal.
03:40So, obviously, unfortunately, I won't be able to play in 2028.
03:44Never say never.
03:47Unless they're going to play 10 days later.
03:56Unfortunately, I won't be able to play as a player.
03:59But I'm certainly going to make all my effort to be at Los Angeles in some capacity or the other.
04:04You guys can, if not anything, at least I'll take a media job.
