00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the times Hughie proved
00:09he could be just as tough as the rest of the boys.
00:12There will be spoilers ahead.
00:22Number 10.
00:23Gets captured so he can rescue M.M. and Frenchie.
00:27The explosive season 1 finale sees half of the boys get caught by Vaught operatives.
00:32Butcher is too busy with his revenge quest to do anything about it, but Hughie is determined
00:38to rescue them.
00:48He comes up with a pretty brilliant plan, allowing himself to get captured in order
00:53to help them bust out from the inside.
00:56He even takes one on the chin, literally, in the process.
01:09Hughie deserves plenty of flowers for bravery and loyalty, but we also need to talk about
01:15how smart he is.
01:16His talent for problem solving has gotten the boys out of more than one sticky situation.
01:24Number 9.
01:25He distorts Ezekiel.
01:36This was one of Hughie's earliest badass moments.
01:39The boys have video of the ultra-religious Ezekiel in a compromising position with other
01:44men.
01:45The plan is for Hughie to blackmail him in exchange for info about Compound V, although
01:50both Hughie and M.M. have their doubts about whether he can pull it off.
01:55At the Believe Expo, Hughie manages to get close to the stretchy suit, but there's
01:59a problem.
02:00His phone is broken, and he has no way to play the video.
02:03However, Hughie thinks fast, and instead claims that he and Ezekiel had sex.
02:14He doesn't back down, even when Ezekiel threatens him.
02:18Amazingly, this last-minute improvisation works, and the boys get the information they
02:23need.
02:33Number 8.
02:34Gets Kimiko to break his arm.
02:46Hughie just can't catch a break, so to speak.
02:50For the start of Season 3, he had a job working under Victoria Newman at the Federal Bureau
02:54of Superhuman Affairs.
02:56He thinks he'll finally be able to take down Supes the right way, with the law on his side.
03:02Of course, he soon finds out that Newman herself is actually a Supe, and a pretty dangerous
03:08one at that.
03:09Hughie decides to rejoin the boys, but he needs a convincing excuse to miss work and
03:14ask Kimiko to break his arm.
03:27He even turns down Frenchie's offer of something to relieve the pain.
03:31He argues that Newman will know if he fakes being sick, but this seems like a pretty extreme
03:36alternative.
03:47Number 7.
03:48Stands up to Homelander.
03:58You have to be either really brave, or really stupid to keep your cool with Homelander in
04:03your face.
04:04After the Supe announces to the world that he and Starlight are secretly in love, which,
04:09of course, is a lie, he shows up in her apartment to needle Hughie about it.
04:20But when Homelander makes an especially rude comment about Starlight, Hughie has had enough.
04:26Although the two of them are no match for the ruthless Supe, Hughie doesn't back down.
04:31The fact that Jack Quaid is a good two inches taller than Anthony Starr makes him look that
04:36much more badass in the moment.
04:46Number 6.
04:47Saves his dad from A-Train.
04:55Hughie has added out for A-Train ever since the speedster accidentally killed Hughie's
05:00girlfriend in Episode 1.
05:02When A-Train takes his father hostage, Hughie doesn't hesitate to rush to the rescue.
05:07He manages to get his father out safely by promising A-Train a dose of Compound V.
05:13And Hughie's dad has a badass moment of his own when he refuses to leave without his son.
05:30Meanwhile, Kimiko is waiting in the wings to take down A-Train.
05:34Hughie later impressed us again by actually helping the speedy Supe.
05:38When A-Train suffers a heart attack, he's completely open to attack.
05:43Although Hughie knows the speedster wants him dead, he displays his immense courage
05:48and strength of character by giving the Supe CPR.
05:59Number 5.
06:00Helps Starlight knock out Soldier Boy.
06:08Sometimes, the most heroic thing you can do is help the people around you reach their
06:15full potential.
06:16When the boys face off against Soldier Boy at Seven Tower, he takes them all out easily.
06:23Hughie is tempted to take another dose of Temporary Compound V to get back in the game
06:27and protect his girlfriend, even though he knows it will be fatal.
06:31Instead, always the quick thinker, he cranks up the electricity, enhancing Starlight's
06:36power and enabling her to knock down the seemingly indestructible Soldier Boy.
06:43It's a defining moment for Hughie, who has struggled with dating a superpowered woman.
06:51Now it seems he's finally learned how to step back and let Starlight shine.
07:06Number 4.
07:07Fights Homelander.
07:13Taking on the ultimate antagonist is always dangerous, even if you are juiced up on temp
07:19feet.
07:20Homelander has been known to drop other Supes without even breaking a sweat.
07:25Even Soldier Boy can't take him alone.
07:27When he shows up to the aftermath of Herogasm, Butcher and Soldier Boy engage him in an epic
07:33battle.
07:34His temporary powers don't make him nearly as strong as the others, but as we've seen,
07:39he's never one to sit out when his friends need help.
07:48To top it off, he has to fight naked, since his clothes don't teleport with him.
07:53No matter how many times Butcher tells him to stay out of harm's way, Hughie keeps
07:58jumping right back into the thick of things.
08:04Number 3.
08:05Rescues Starlight.
08:09There's no more dangerous place for the boys than Seven Tower, where a deadly Supe
08:22or a squad of Vought operatives could be around any corner.
08:26But when Starlight and her mom are taken captive, that's where Hughie has to go to
08:31save them.
08:32When he finds out Starlight's been arrested, he doesn't hesitate to rush to the rescue,
08:37even convincing Lamplighter to sneak him into the tower.
08:48The mission doesn't go quite as planned, as Lamplighter decides to immolate himself
08:53right in the middle of it.
08:55But Hughie, despite bleeding from a previous injury and being forced to navigate Vought
09:00without Supe backup, still manages to find and free Mrs. January.
09:05Although Starlight got out earlier because of Lamplighter triggering security measures,
09:10she still appreciated Hughie's bravery.
09:20Number 2.
09:21Hughie's Slices and Dices.
09:32While Hughie was being shot at by villains from the Shining Light group, he severely
09:36injured his leg.
09:38After taking cover in an office, his ally Kimiko tells them they'll have to fight their
09:42way out.
09:44She gave Hughie a quick tutorial on how to kill with ordinary office items.
09:53Although it looked like he'd make it out of the building without incident, he got cornered
09:57by a gunman.
09:58Hughie was impressively able to leap into action and catch the enemy by surprise.
10:04And when push came to shove, he used a box cutter to slice his way out.
10:09While the kill was impressive on its own, the fact that Hughie seemed almost unfazed
10:14by it later showed how strong he'd become.

10:37Number 1.
10:38Butcher kills Translucent.
10:40This is the point where Hughie Campbell truly becomes one of the boys.
10:44After Translucent catches him planting a bug in 7 Tower, the Invisible Soup attacks Hughie
10:49at work.
10:51Butcher shows up to help, but Hughie is the one smart enough to electrocute Translucent
10:56and knock him unconscious.
11:06Butcher and Frenchie run through every idea they can think of to kill the nearly invulnerable
11:11man, until Frenchie comes up with a plan to put explosives somewhere they can't easily
11:16be removed.
11:25Although Translucent nearly talks his way out of trouble, ultimately, Hughie decides
11:30to pull the trigger.
11:32Butcher's first kill set Hughie down a path where he'd pull off more badass feats.
