00:00So, we're here at Manchester Airport, getting ready to jet off to Tokyo. Newcastle United's
00:08pre-season in full swing after Hull yesterday. Good game, good warm-up for Newcastle. Now,
00:14this is the crux of it.
00:15Yeah, it's the proper stuff this, isn't it? Yeah, we've got a long journey ahead. A couple
00:21of hours till we take off from Shanghai, about 11 hours I think the flight is, and then we've
00:24got a couple of hours waiting in Shanghai before we go to Tokyo. But, yeah, I've got
00:28my company and we're both looking forward to it, aren't we?
00:31Yeah, really, really exciting. We'll see the likes of Bruno for the first time. We'll see
00:38Fabian Scherminger and Arnold come back, Martin Dabravka, as well as those international players.
00:42We won't see Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippi unfortunately, but it'll be good for Eddie
00:47Hull to get the sort of meat and bones of his squad back together ahead of the new season,
00:53which starts in less than three weeks' time. So, it's going to be really important. And
00:57we saw at Hull yesterday, Eddie Hull named as strong a starting XI as he could, but there
01:02were still a lot of players who would do well to play Premier League football in the positions
01:08they played. It's still a bare-bones sort of squad at the moment.
01:12Yeah, I think there are the desperate, well, I wouldn't say desperate, but you want to
01:16see recognised players back. You want to see international players back. Obviously, you
01:20mentioned too, I wouldn't be there, Trippi, Aaron, Gordon, but you've got the likes of
01:25who's come back?
01:26Shea is a big one, Bruno is a big one.
01:28Well, Bruno is the main one. I think seeing him will give everyone a lift. And hopefully
01:34as well, there might be some transfer activity, but as we spoke to Eddie Hull yesterday, nothing
01:39is closed. But yeah, I think seeing the likes of Bruno will give someone a lift and what
01:43will give someone a bigger lift would be to see a player come through the door. And you
01:47can't start working hard on that, but as we said to you now, no news. But yeah, good
01:52commercial opportunities over there as well. We should mention that's why they do this,
01:55why they're not straight at the end of last season as much as that sort of was criticised
01:59in some parts. It was, I would say probably the first game against Spurs was good for
02:04the commercial side, maybe not the loss to the ALE All-Stars, but coming up against two
02:10GLeague sides, hopefully get a new fan base. The players and stuff will be out in the public
02:15meeting local fans. So yeah, it should be a productive trip and we'll be covering every
02:20step of the way.
02:20It's bugging on.
