00:00Hello, welcome to my channel, my dear friends.
00:04In this video, I would like to tell you about a famous legend that is believed to be the beginning of the 5th Abgar-Ukama, the king of Edessa, who ruled in Urfa between the 13th and 50th years after the crescent.
00:22Our legend is based on a miraculous event that took place between the 13th and the 50th years after the 5th Abgar, the king of Edessa.
00:35According to the legend, King Abgar, who was caught with the flu disease, heard that Jesus, who lived in Israel at that time, cured the patients.
00:45However, he cannot go to Jerusalem because he is very ill.
00:48He sent a private reporter named Hannan to Jerusalem with a letter indicating that he believed in Jesus.
00:56And he invites Jesus to Edessa.
00:59This reporter is also a skilled painter.
01:03After presenting the letter he took to Jesus, he tries to make a portrait of him by going up to a high place.
01:09But he can't be successful.
01:12Jesus, who senses this, washes his face and wipes his face with a towel extended to him, and gives it to reporter Hannan.
01:20Miraculously, Jesus's portrait is imprinted on the towel.
01:26Hannan, on the other hand, returns with this towel along with a letter that Jesus wrote to him.
01:33King Abgar reads the letter and puts this holy towel on his face.
01:38Recovers his health.
01:42This letter, which Jesus sent to King Abgar, was processed in the form of an inscription at the entrance of a cave in the position of 40 caves.
01:51In this inscription,
01:52How happy you are to the city called Abgar and Edessa.
01:56How happy you are to believe in me without seeing me.
01:59Because you will be given continuous health.
02:03When it comes to what they wrote to me about coming to you,
02:06You should know that I have been assigned to complete everything here and I have to return to my father who sent me after finishing this job.
02:16To heal your pain, your illness, to give eternal life to you and those who are with you,
02:23Also, I will send one of my disciples, named Thomas, to your city by the enemies until the end of the world.
02:36The letter of Jesus.
02:38In this legend, it is a noteworthy detail that Jesus sent his disciple Thomas to Edessa.
02:45The reason for this important detail is this.
02:48According to the Bible, the disciple Thomas, Jesus, was crucified and resurrected 3 days after his execution and returned to the Israelites again.
02:59And he continues to live among them for 40 days.
03:03In a meeting where Jesus talks to those who believe in him,
03:09His disciple Thomas approaches Jesus and says,
03:12If you are really killed, show us your scars and the mark of the spear that was pierced into your heart.
03:19Upon this, Jesus says to Thomas, Come, approach and control with your hands.
03:24Thomas approaches. He is shocked again by the miracle he saw and experienced.
03:29And he begins to beg Jesus with a hug.
03:33Here is the story told in the Bible, and before the execution that has not yet taken place,
03:37It is even more miraculous to say that he will send his disciple Thomas to him.
03:43Because on the one hand, Thomas, who knows himself closely and witnesses his miracles,
03:49Thomas, who doubts his faith even though he is a disciple,
03:52On the other hand, he has never seen himself and his miracles,
03:56King of Edessa, who believes in him, the 5th Abgar.
04:00Again, after a short while after the holy towel healed King Abgar,
04:07The Persians attacked Edessa and besieged the city.
04:11Upon this, King Abgar takes the letter written by Jesus to the city gate.
04:17And he raises the letter in his hand next to his army and begins to beg Jesus in a loud voice.
04:26Jesus Christ had promised us that none of our enemies could enter this city.
04:33And now the Persians are attacking us.
04:37As soon as the prayer is over, a dark darkness suddenly falls out of the city.
04:42While the Persians are about 3 miles away from the city, they suddenly lose their way.
04:48And they can only form the siege camps far from the city.
04:53This siege lasts a few months, but neither can they take the city, nor can the city of Urfa surrender to the Persians.
05:00During this time, they want to make sure that they surrender by leaving the city without water.
05:06For this, they change the tea bed that provides water to the city and transfer it near the place where they set up their camps.
05:13However, as soon as the Persian army does this, a spring of water suddenly appears in the palace.
05:18And this spring does not leave the Urfans without water at all.
05:20On the other hand, the water that the Persians change their direction does not reach the Persians.
05:26On top of that, the Persians lift the siege and return.
05:30After this incident, he tried to take the city from time to time.
05:35However, this letter was removed and read at the door every time.
05:40For this reason, Urfa was never occupied as long as King Abgar lived.
