00:00Wow. Thank you, Joe, for that introduction. I am Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester. I'm
00:12a little emotional. The CBC is family. I'm looking at everyone's faces. I wasn't scheduled
00:24to speak, and I kept standing there asking, God, what do you want me to say in this moment?
00:36First I want to say that I am Joe Biden's Congresswoman, and I am so proud of the man
00:47that he is, the human being that he is, the partnership and the accomplishments that we
00:55have made together. Historic. Our vice president said yesterday in a speech to all of us in
01:03Delaware that Joe Biden has done more in three years than some presidents do in two terms.
01:11So first I stand here also with the word gratitude. Gratitude for this great man, this great American.
01:23And then my second word is determination. Determination. Because we may have a honeymoon
01:33period right now. We may be celebrating right now. We may even see the vision of our children
01:39holding hands and looking up. But we have to make it a reality. And so I think the word
01:46determination, we are determined to make sure that Kamala Harris is the next president of
01:52the United States. I served on the VP selection committee. Four of us. So I know all of the
02:00people who are in the running for this position. And Joe Biden said to us, his instructions
02:06were I want somebody who's ready on day one. She was ready on day one three years ago.
02:12And so we are determined to elect this qualified, compassionate, brilliant person who represents
02:24the United States in all its beauty and splendor and glory. We are also determined and united
02:32to defeat Donald Trump. And I want to say this one more time. We are determined. Catch
02:44me cameras. We are determined to beat Donald Trump because this is about two different
02:52visions and versions of this country. We choose hope over fear, love over hate, justice for all of
03:03us. And so in addition to that, we also want to make sure that project 2025, a 900 page book
03:14becomes a history book. It's going to be history. And so as as Joe Biden's Congresswoman,
03:24somebody now running for the Senate, I just left Angela also Brooks. We know that in the history
03:30of this country, there have only been three black women in the United States Senate. Right, Barbara?
03:35Right. Three. 1789. We have had Carol Mosley Braun. We have had Kamala Harris. We have LaFonza
03:46Butler. And number four and five are coming.
03:57So my last word to all of us is that we have spent a couple of weeks worrying. Right. So now
04:05it's time for moving from worry to work to win. That's what we're about to do.
