00:00I actually have the underwear version of this, so this is incredible to have at the top as well.
00:04Perfect, right?
00:09His meeting was highly anticipated by the fans, so how was to make it happen?
00:14Did Deadpool manage to soften Wolverine's heart?
00:19That's a great question, Amanda. I love your outfit, by the way.
00:22Thank you.
00:23We had to make it happen.
00:24Exactly, I know.
00:25I love you both.
00:27I engineered the entire movie to this outfit, so, you know, no pressure.
00:32Yeah, I guess at the end of the day, what the hell was the question, Hugh?
00:37Did you soften my heart?
00:38Oh, right. No, he has no heart.
00:40It was very small and dried up, like a raisin.
00:43Just a little tiny, more like a, I think it was a little bigger, like a date.
00:47Licked it.
00:48I think the ultimate thing for us was that it's been seven years since Logan, six years since the last Deadpool movie.
00:54It's just like, you can't do a movie like this without a reason, you know?
00:58So when we found the reason and how to do that, it was a no-brainer.
01:02And then we just all just jumped, held hands and jumped off the cliff together and had literally the best time of our lives.
01:08How do you feel having the responsibility of being the only Marvel movie in 2024?
01:13What was the biggest challenge of bringing Deadpool into Disney?
01:17Because apparently nothing was left out.
01:19What's left out? They were very, very encouraging.
01:23They knew that Deadpool has to be audacious.
01:27And so they didn't place limits on the tone.
01:30I had no idea it would be the only Marvel movie for a whole year.
01:33And I just don't think about the pressure.
01:35I think about the opportunity.
01:37And I think audiences are hungry for something surprising.
01:41And I think this movie is definitely surprising.
01:44Hugh, I saw that you trained hard for your comeback.
01:47But I really would like to know, how was to use the classic yellow outfit for the first time?
01:52How was to see it?
01:53It was one of Ryan's first ideas.
01:55When I said, I really want to do it, he goes, we've got to do the yellow and blue.
01:58And I was like, okay.
01:59I said, we can try.
02:00I mean, we've talked about it in the past.
02:02And it was just, everyone was like, it's not going to work.
02:04But I never actually put it on.
02:06And the moment I put it on, I was like, we walked on set.
02:10He was in his Deadpool suit.
02:11I was in mine.
02:12And you could hear a pin drop.
02:14It was just a hush.
02:16And it just felt right.
02:18I can't even imagine that.
02:19It was so crazy.
02:20I've done this for 25 years.
02:21Now I can't even imagine ever not wearing it, playing the character.
02:25I can imagine.
02:26It's perfect.
02:27For me as well.
02:28So, I'm a little slow.
02:29Thank you.
02:30Thank God for Ryan.
02:31I know.
02:32And I'm sorry to everybody.
02:33But anyway.
02:34It was one of the greatest moments of the filming process.
02:36Because when we walked out together, I sort of forget about that iconography and how that plays.
02:42And this crew.
02:43I mean, it's London, Pinewood.
02:45They've done a thousand movies.
02:46They've seen it.
02:47They're fourth generation crew members.
02:48And a hush came over.
02:50And it was the best filming moment we had.
02:53Because you just heard this sort of, oh my God, moment in this giant soundstage.
02:58And it was just, I felt like, oh, we did something pretty smart here.
03:01This is cool.
03:02Yellow is my favorite color.
03:04So, I'm really happy.
03:05It is the color of fear.
03:07Moving on.
03:08And what about Hugh Jackman's 17-minute voice memo that you sent?
03:13Did you block him after this?
03:15No, she's not.
03:16Oh.
03:17I love him too much.
03:18But what did he say that helped you with this movie?
03:20Well, first, he talked a lot.
03:22A lot.
03:23And then more.
03:24We had sent him the script.
03:25And he was trying to express his reaction.
03:28And around minute 11, he finally got to the crux of it.
03:33Which is, why this slogan?
03:36What is singular about this slogan in this story?
03:41And Ryan and I were together listening to it.
03:44We had connected our phone to the Bluetooth.
03:46And we realized, you know what?
03:48That's a really critical question that we didn't ask sufficiently.
03:53And so, we rewrote the whole script to really be specific and unique in this slogan's story.
04:00And why this slogan needs this quest with Deadpool to find redemption.
04:05You play Professor X's sister.
04:08And by any chance, were you inspired by Patrick Stewart or James McAvoy's versions?
04:13What inspired you?
04:15I don't know if I was inspired by their performances.
04:18Not because they're not inspiring.
04:20Just because we sort of ran through different references.
04:23But I did.
04:24I went back and watched their performances.
04:26Because I was so interested to see how they portray characters of such where their power is so internal.
04:32Where it's in their mind, it's to do with telepathic power.
04:35And how that's portrayed.
04:36Because it can feel so inward, not outward.
04:39And yeah, I think they do it in such an extraordinary way.
04:42So yeah, it was so helpful.
04:44At the beginning, I very much had to set that term villain aside.
04:47And sort of figure out how I was going to empathize with this character.
04:49And really get to know her.
04:51Sort of what motivates her.
04:52And why she ends up doing what she's doing.
04:54Then we were just discussing that we sort of ended up finding her along the way.
04:59Deadpool is a very funny character without showing his face.
05:02How is it for you to make comedy without showing your face?
05:05Great question Amanda.
05:07It's brilliant. It's genius.
05:08Let me answer a little bit.
05:10Because it's sort of, he's described before as like clown work.
05:13But it is like Buster Keaton.
05:15It's like Charlie Chaplin.
05:16The specificity, the ability to communicate with a mask.
05:20The brilliance of his movement, hand gestures.
05:23How disciplined he is.
05:25It's incredible to watch.
05:28It's very hard to convey facial expressions and micro facial expressions.
05:34It's voice work.
05:35So it's a little trick where you push through the mask.
05:38And it is quite specific.
05:40But I've never felt freer than when I play this character under that mask.
05:45Do you do a dance class with this?
05:48No, but this man speaks dance.
05:51In fact, dance is his love language.
05:54Yes, he is a skin-covered dance machine.
05:58Disney brought him back.
05:59They're gonna make him do this till he's 90.
06:01There was a lot of rumors about Taylor Swift being the cast.
06:04And I really would like to know who would she play if she wasn't in the cast.
06:09Like in your dream.
06:10It's a good question.
06:11I think, and you know this too.
06:12But Taylor is like one of the funniest people.
06:16I mean, you would never...
06:18I mean, you see parts of that certainly in her work and her life.
06:21But like one of the funniest people.
06:23I think she'd be Deadpool.
06:25Oh, really?
06:26Yeah.
06:27It's true.
06:28She did audition for Wolverine when I wasn't sure.
06:30Came very close.
06:31Yeah, she got a third round.
06:33I mean, I've been there.
06:34And she was also way too expensive.
06:38I saw that your favorite music of her is Betty, right?
06:42Yeah, of course.
06:43I mean, it's hard to pick favorites.
06:45What is Deadpool's favorite music of Taylor?
06:47Oh my God.
06:48I think it's Shake It Off because haters gonna hate.
06:51I feel like Deadpool is very sentimental.
06:53I feel like it's gonna be love story or something.
06:55Oh, it's true.
06:56Yeah, something old school.
07:02Now I have a gift for you.
07:04We love gifts.
07:05Because you are best friends forever.
07:07So I have a t-shirt with iconic moments from your friendship here.
07:11This one is for you, Ryan.
07:13And this one is for you with the moments.
07:17So you can use it like...
07:19He is your best friend now.
07:21Oh my God.
07:24I love this.
07:25I love this too.
07:26I'm gonna wear this to bed.
07:27Well, I actually have the underwear version of this.
07:30So this is incredible to have the top as well.
07:33Perfect, right?
07:34I want on a paparazzi stroll later.
07:37Wearing both of these.
07:38I'm gonna make money into a pillowcase.
07:39Thank you.
07:40Look at that.
07:41Just hold it all night.
07:42Thank you so much, Amanda.
