00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the upcoming anime films
00:10we're most excited for, while we all wait to see what Miyazaki comes up with next.
00:22Number 10.
00:23The Rose of Asai
00:24There's never been a better time to start reading up on the French Revolution.
00:29To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the manga, The Rose of Asai is coming back on
00:34the largest screen possible.
00:39It's well overdue.
00:40Ever since the original run ended all the way back in 1980, the influential drama hasn't
00:46been given the treatment it oh-so-desperately deserves.
00:50Thankfully, Studio MAPPA, known for other behemoth-sized hits like Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack
00:56on Titan, and Chainsaw Man, will be rectifying that in 2025.
01:02With that kind of resume, this fresh adaptation of The Rose of Asai is sure to please newcomers
01:08and longtime fans alike.
01:17Number 9.
01:18The Eminence in Shadow – Lost Echoes
01:22After falling into a fantasy realm, the newly-minted Syd Kageno made himself the very center of
01:28the pop culture conversation, both in his world and ours.
01:40Now that he's flexed his stuff on the TV screen, he's setting his sights on the next
01:45big hurdle – the multiplex.
01:53We wouldn't be too worried, though.
01:55The Eminence in Shadow is building off two fantastic seasons of action, intrigue, and
02:00atomic displays of strength.
02:02There's no reason to believe Syd's theatrical expedition will be any different.
02:07And if he's in another realm, wherever Syd goes, people are bound to follow.
02:17Number 8.
02:18Futo P.I. – Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull
02:32A Kamen Rider anime film sells itself, especially when it's coming from an already-established
02:37show.
02:38Futo P.I. is a superhero anime based on the manga of the same name, itself a continuation
02:45of the live-action Kamen Rider W series.
02:48My personal favorite.
02:50That may sound like a complicated barrier of entry, but don't worry.
02:54Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull is billed as a flashback story, chronicling the last case
02:59of Detective Sokichi, meaning it's uniquely positioned to appeal to all audiences.
03:09And really, who's gonna pass up seeing some animated Kamen Rider action on the big screen?
03:19Number 7.
03:20The Irregular at Magic High School – Yotsuba Succession Arc
03:24There's nothing irregular about it – this show is worth the hype.
03:29And what better way to reward that behavior than with a field trip to movie theatres?
03:34The film is set to pick up right where the third season left off, with a power vacuum
03:39at the head of the Yotsuba clan, and everyone vying for control.
03:51In case there was any doubt, this is not something you can skip – not that anyone's planning
03:56to anyway.
04:03Catching up with Miyuki and Tatsuya is worth the price of admission alone.
04:07You better buy your tickets now, before it's too late.
04:14Number 6.
04:15Overlord – The Sacred Kingdom
04:17Just when you thought Ainzal Gown couldn't get any cooler, he brings his armies to an
04:22even bigger screen.
04:24And with a canon story arc to boot.
04:27Since it's four seasons deep, you'd think a necessary plotline might be an issue.
04:32But then again, if you aren't already caught up, what have you been doing?
04:37Overlord has been the peak of violent fantasy wish fulfilment for years now.
04:45These days, the only thing better than watching Ainzal Gown conquer his enemies, is seeing
04:51him do it on a massive movie screen.
04:54Luckily, Holy Kingdom promises to do just that… and then some.
05:03Number 5.
05:04Haikyuu!
05:05Final – Part 2
05:06Karasuno's story is on set point, and to add to the pressure, they're on the biggest
05:11stage yet.
05:12No, we don't just mean the nationals.
05:15To give the series the send-off it deserves, Haikyuu! is bringing the drama-filled conclusion
05:20to theatres across two feature-length films.
05:26The first of them, 2024's The Dumpster Battle, ended up scoring a service ace at the box
05:32office, nabbing several yearly records in the process.
05:36So while there's no official word on the timetable for the final instalment, we'd
05:42Hinata, Kageyama, and the others, sooner rather than later.
05:51Number 4.
05:52My Hero Academia – You're Next
05:55You'd think after three films, and over a hundred episodes of the anime, a series
06:00would begin to run out of ideas.
06:02Not My Hero Academia, though.
06:05For Deku and friends' fourth trip to the movies, they're bringing out their most
06:09ambitious pitch yet.
06:11Evil all might.
06:12Sorry, we mean, Dark Might.
06:15Yeah, it's a bit wacky.
06:19But that's part of the charm.
06:21My Hero Academia has earned the benefit of the doubt anyways.
06:26The series' films have always delivered the hype action and moving emotional beats
06:31befitting a big screen.
06:33Assuming You're Next maintains that level of quality, My Hero films will be batting
06:384 for 4.
06:45Number 3.
06:46Madoka Magica – While Porgus Night Rising
06:54Good things come to Madoka fans who wait.
06:57Over ten years after the franchise's last theatrical endeavor, it's returning for
07:01more bombastic magical goodness.
07:04Witty title aside, this film sells itself on its brand alone.
07:11Fans have been starved for so long, it could be two hours of Madoka staring at a wall,
07:16and it would still sell out theatres.
07:19The fact that Rising is actually a direct sequel to 2013's Rebellion brings the excitement
07:25to a whole new level.
07:26There's no way of knowing exactly where this movie will take Madoka and the others,
07:31but rest assured, there's going to be a lot of people watching.
07:40Number 2.
07:41Chainsaw Man – The Movie – Reise Arc
07:44The must-see show of 2022 just became the must-see movie-going experience.
07:50Like all great industry shakers before it, Chainsaw Man was so successful as a weekly
07:56anime, it's taking its next storyline all the way to the big screen.
08:09This is no mere side-adventure, though.
08:11As its name implies, it will tell the highly-anticipated Reise Arc, which introduces the fan-favourite
08:18character with all the bloodshed, hormones and zaniness Chainsaw Man does best.
08:24If we had to guess, it'll look much better in a movie theatre.
08:28Now, can we please get a release date already?
08:50Number 1.
08:51Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Trilogy
08:55Muzan's made his move, the Slayer core is trapped in his domain, and Demon Slayer's
09:01about to do what Demon Slayer does best – completely dominate.
09:09Taking full advantage of the series' ridiculous popularity, the climactic final battle is
09:15being turned into not just one, not just two, but three full movies.
09:28There's no word for how high expectations are.
09:31Last time Demon Slayer quested two theatres, it delivered the highest-grossing Japanese
09:36movie of all time, period.
09:39If the Infinity Castle Trilogy can match even half of Muken Train's absurd success – and
09:45let's be real, how could it not?
09:47Then we're in for an unprecedented time at the multiplex.
