00:00We have a special guest joining us in studio.
00:04It's Hulk Hogan.
00:05I did not see this coming.
00:06No?
00:07Brother, I didn't see it coming either.
00:08When I landed at Detroit Airport, brother, I thought I was going against Andre the Giant
00:14or, ooh, yeah, the Macho Man or Rowdy Roddy Piper, but I'm here to sell beer, guys.
00:19That's awesome.
00:20I don't have to work.
00:22The real American beer that you have introduced and will be all around Detroit today.
00:26We'll get to where you'll be coming up in a minute.
00:28Cool, cool.
00:30You started reminiscing immediately.
00:31Oh, yeah.
00:32I mean, because I'm a huge professional wrestling fan, and the first time I watched wrestling
00:35was at my grandfather's knee in rural Wisconsin watching the old AWA stuff with Vern Gagne.
00:41Oh, boy.
00:42That's where Hulkamania started.
00:44I know.
00:45Believe me.
00:46I know.
00:47I mean, I'm not a historian, but I'd like to think I kind of am.
00:49I know all this stuff about wrestling, and the first time I ever saw the matches was
00:53live, was at Cobo to see you and Dr. D. David Schultz, but obviously there's a lot of history
00:58here, man, and coming back to Detroit, how often do you get to Detroit?
01:01Because this is one of the hotbeds of professional wrestling.
01:04Well, over the 40 years of my career, we came here all the time to wrestle, from Joe Louis,
01:09Cobo, Richfield Coliseum.
01:10Oh, I'm not Richfield.
01:11I mean, Silverdome.
01:12You get the buildings mixed up here, but yeah, I was in and out of here all the time.
01:18Then a buddy of mine, Tony Carlini, did all the prototypes for Iacocca, so I was bouncing
01:23in and out doing car stuff with him, so I spent a lot of time here in Detroit.
01:27What's your favorite car, out of curiosity?
01:28Well, I'm a Mopar guy, bro.
01:29Okay.
01:30So right now, I mean, I have all the old stuff.
01:31I got a couple of 69 Roadrunners, a couple of 71 Kudos, but I got the new stuff, too.
01:37I got all the Hellcats, all the Red Eyes, but the two cars I just bought, the Demon
01:42170s, those 1,025-horsepower Demons, those things are crazy, but yeah, it's all Mopar
01:49and no car for me.
01:50I mean, you're driving those things, you only drive them on a track somewhere, or is this
01:54a-
01:55No, brother, I don't tear my stuff up.
01:56No, I don't.
01:57I really don't do that.
01:58I just like fast cars and like to have the gas pedal there if you need it, but nothing
02:02crazy, man.
02:03You know, nothing crazy.
02:04I take care of my stuff.
02:05Do you miss the ring?
02:06Yes.
02:07It kills me not to be able to go out there, because every night, I start jonesing about
02:117, 38 o'clock, you know?
02:13I start getting this turbulence, you know?
02:16And it's kind of weird, because it's like the ultimate workout.
02:18You get to go out there and wear yourself out completely.
02:21You sweat yourself to death from head to toe, and you know, it's more or less the physicality
02:28and being around all the guys and having that part of my life.
02:32I do miss the crowds and the people, because the energy was nuts, but I miss it a lot.
02:36What's your best memory of Detroit?
02:37Best memory?
02:38Well, of course, bro, it had to be WrestleMania III, you know, Pontiac Silverdome.
02:44I mean, the Cobo Arena in Joe Louis, I've got some crazy memories there.
02:48I had some wars in those buildings, but you know, I've got to go back to, you know, WrestleMania
02:53III.
02:54That's the one.
02:55Did you ever wrestle the original Sheik?
02:57No.
02:58Not the one from Detroit.
02:59No.
03:00Because that guy was the most terrifying wrestler I ever saw in my life.
03:05Even to this day, the original Sheik, who's a legend in Detroit, was like the ultimate
03:10heel of professional wrestling.
03:13Who was the ultimate heel that you wrestled?
03:15Well, you said his name earlier.
03:18The ultimate heel actually was Dr. D. David Schultz during the day.
03:21I mean, he's the one that slapped John Stossel.
03:24He's the one that was just like, you know, way over the top.
03:28He would not even let his guard down.
03:30If he said professional wrestling was fake or you put on a good show, he would go bonkers
03:36on you.
03:37He was real stiff.
03:38Is there ever a wrestler that you're like, I don't understand why this guy isn't making
03:42it?
03:43I mean, he's got the moves and he's just not getting the notoriety.
03:46Well, you know, a lot of guys don't figure it out.
03:49A lot of guys, you know, are in the business 20, 30, 40 years like me and they make a living
03:54and they pride themselves on being a main event guy or a semi-main event guy or a mid-card
03:59guy.
04:00But there's an art form to this, you know, and a lot of people don't have the it factor.
04:04Like the it factor like The Rock had or like Stone Cold Steve Austin had or like Andre
04:08the Giant had.
04:10And you know, once you got to figure the business out, there's a lot more to it than just wrestling
04:13in the ring.
04:14You know, so you have to be a pretty good businessman, you know, to do the merchandise
04:18and all the ancillary stuff and basically protect your character and be innovative enough
04:23to change your character and make transitions and stay healthy.
04:28A lot of guys don't know how to stay healthy out there because you do get hurt really bad
04:32out there.
04:33I've had 27 surgeries and actually 30, over 30 surgeries in the last 12 years.
04:39Just in the last 12 years since you've...
04:41Yeah, my body shut down on me.
04:42I've had 10 back surgeries, both hips, both knees done, two shoulders, abs, orbital socket
04:48fixed several times from getting kicked in the face.
04:51Nobody gave me the memo that stuff is fake.
04:53Well, you broke your leg when you first started and the Briscoes took you out of construction.
04:57I didn't break my leg, they did.
04:58They broke your leg.
04:59The very first day they broke my leg, you know, just because they wanted to run me off.
05:04I was playing at a rock and roll band.
05:06I had real long blonde hair and went down there and thought I could be a wrestler and
05:09they broke my leg and said, don't ever come back again.
05:12And yet you came back.
05:13Yes, sir.
05:14Well, the Real American Beer, what are people getting when they sample the Real American
05:18Beer?
05:19They're getting the beer that America's been waiting for.
05:22Brother, we worked really hard to get this right simply because, you know, we really
05:27believe that this is going to be America's new beer.
05:30From the response we're getting, we knew we had something good.
05:34We had no idea it was going to be this big, this fast.
05:37So we're a little bit overwhelmed at response.
05:40But I think people are getting a beer that they're going to continue drinking for generations.
05:43I think this is going to be a generational transition that people are going to move away
05:47from a lot of the Anheuser-Busch products, the Coor products, the Pass Blue Ribbon, and
05:51get on Team Hogan.
05:52And I think once they taste the beer, they're going to realize that we're for real.
05:55Well, you're moving around Metro Detroit today.
05:57I'm going to run down your schedule here.
05:58I dare you.
05:59American Party Store in Troy at 2.30, Beverage Warehouse in Beverly Hills at 4, O'Toole's
06:05in Royal Oak at 7.30, and the Old Shillelagh in Detroit at 8.45.
06:08I know all four of those places.
06:09You're going to be very busy.
06:10And there's no time to eat or go to the bathroom.
06:13Great.
06:14Thanks, Chad.
06:15Appreciate it, brother.
06:16Thanks for stopping by.
06:17Enjoy your stop in Detroit.
06:18You guys are awesome, man.
06:19Thank you.
06:20There he is.
06:21Thanks, Hulk.
06:22Wow.
06:23Hulk Hogan Institute.
06:24That's Hulk Hogan.
06:25I know.
06:26That just happened.
06:27I know.
06:28This doesn't feel real.
06:30I love that.
06:3124-ounce Python.
06:3224-ounce Pythons.
06:33Chad, did you hear that?
06:3424-ounce Pythons.
06:35I'm an idea guy.
06:36Yeah, you are.
06:37I'm an idea guy.
06:38Wow, that's strong.
06:39Actually, I do have Andre the Giant's license, too.
06:41Oh, yeah?
06:42Yeah.
06:43I was the only wrestler that he kind of liked.
06:44And I went to his daughter and said, I'd love to sell some of Andre's stuff.
06:47She goes, well, you were the only wrestler that my dad ever talked about and liked.
06:51So we're actually talking about doing 40-ounce real American slams, you know, 40-ounce beers.
06:56Oh, yeah.
06:57So all that stuff is in the works.
07:00Best of luck.
07:01Thanks for stopping by.
07:02Thanks, guys.
07:03Thanks, Hulk.
07:04Thank you, brothers.
07:05Hulk Hogan joining us in studio.
07:06Thanks, guys.
07:07Unexpected and certainly all around Detroit, you are thrilled.
07:12What's today, Wednesday?
07:13Gator is absolutely thrilled.
07:18You know, we had an inkling like an hour ago, somebody said something.
07:22Yeah.
07:23Like, hey, rumor has it that he might.
07:24I'm like, what?
07:25What?
07:26Hulk Hogan.
07:27Interesting.
07:28All right.
07:30You know what this is?
07:31This is like if suddenly you look at the inverse of this.
07:35What would be the inverse of this where I would ask all the questions and you would just
07:39kind of say.
07:40If Tom Brady's behind me.
07:41It would be Tom Brady.
07:42100% if it were Tom Brady.
07:43Or Jack Campbell.
