00:00I'm gonna be talking about each storyline of Sonic Rivals in chronological order.
00:05Which means one storyline right after another past every level.
00:09At the start of the game, Sonic confronts Eggman, who says that he's captured Amy and Tails inside cards somehow.
00:17Knuckles complains that he came all the way to the island looking for the Master Emerald and couldn't find it.
00:23I like that the game acknowledged that he's the guardian of it, because it hadn't happened in quite a while.
00:30In games without him guarding or looking for the Emerald, he gets exaggerated to the point of seeming out of character.
00:36Because the writer takes his rare personality traits and makes him always like that, so I have him make an impression as a contrast to Sonic.
00:44Why did Knuckles decide to look for the Master Emerald on this island?
00:49You'd think he'd be chasing down Eggman or Rouge, not winding around aimlessly going,
00:54Hey, there's an island here. Maybe it's here.
00:57Knuckles comments that the island feels familiar as foreshadowing before noticing Eggman.
01:03Eggman explains that he used a magical camera to turn the Master Emerald into a card.
01:08Yeah, yeah, he says it's futuristic technology. It's still magical.
01:12So it's too bad it's not explained that he used a witch to do it.
01:17And Wendy Witchcard is a thing, so it could have made sense.
01:22I assume he's gonna turn it back to its original form to use it later, because otherwise that would be a pointless waste of time.
01:29Oh, what's that? He never uses the Master Emerald in this game at all and never says he has plans to?
01:35There's really no reason to delay it?
01:38Well, whatever then.
01:39I always liked this idea because at least it was something new to the series, so it's still creative.
01:45But everyone thinks it's lame.
01:48Eggman says that if either Sonic or Knuckles want the cards, they'll have to catch him first.
01:54Because he's crazy and spiteful enough that he wants to have the ultimate card collection.
01:59Well, it sounds silly, but it is in character for someone like Eggman who always has his head in the clouds.
02:05This would be in character for Boom Eggman to want to do.
02:08No hard feelings? Yeah, right.
02:11If Knuckles didn't have a hard feelings against Sonic, he wouldn't be so desperate to compete with him in the first place.
02:17I don't really blame him for that anymore, because Sonic is a jerk sometimes.
02:21Seriously, it's looking like he can't handle going without competing with or trying to beat up Sonic for too long.
02:27So it's a good thing he stopped doing that eventually.
02:30Why can't he just ask?
02:33Well, at least it makes sense for Knuckles and Sonic to be competing with each other for the sake of it.
02:37They're friendly rivals, after all.
02:40Sonic says that the winner of the race takes all.
02:43But he wouldn't actually take Knuckles' Master Emerald.
02:47Because Knuckles would never stop bothering him about it.
02:50Even though Eggman would never suspect that he had it.
02:53So why is he saying that?
02:56I guess he's just saying that to tease him.
02:58And thinks Knuckles knows he's just teasing him.
03:02So Eggman contacts Shadow with a communicator of some sort and says that he needs his help because someone's after him.
03:08Doesn't bother to explain it because it's all so confusing.
03:12And it's a lazy way for the plot to stall revealing the truth.
03:16And tells him to help him.
03:18How does he not realize that if he doesn't explain himself, he's even less likely to help him?
03:25I guess he asks for Shadow's help because Shadow's more morally neutral.
03:29But that's not how being neutral works.
03:32Even neutral people wouldn't help a villain with literally no prospect of a reward for it.
03:38And with everything to lose because people would hate Shadow if he found out he helped Eggman.
03:44I get Shadow wanting to help people.
03:47But not Eggman.
03:49He has literally no reason to help him.
03:52It's just making him insultingly idealistic as an exaggeration of his interpretation of Maria's wish.
04:00When it's pretty obvious that if Maria knew Eggman, she wouldn't want him to help him.
04:05Maybe he thinks he's gullible because of the events in Shadow the Hedgehog.
04:10Eggman tells Shadow to follow the signal and find him.
04:14It could make sense that Shadow's doing what Eggman wants out of curiosity.
04:19Why does the story think that he works for Eggman?
04:22Shadow sees a Silver Hedgehog who is chasing after Eggman.
04:27Shadow confronts Silver and angrily asks him what he wants with Eggman.
04:31Why does he just assume that he's looking for Eggman to beat him up?
04:34Or at least try to arrest him?
04:36Because that's what anybody else would look for Eggman for.
04:40Somehow, instead of explaining himself, Silver immediately gets confrontational and shouts at him.
04:46In the Sonic Rivals game, Silver is an absolute jerk for no particular reason.
04:51You'd think Silver would know about Shadow because Shadow's immortal.
04:57I suppose in a bad future, the knowledge of Shadow would have been lost.
05:03Also, Shadow might have been killed by that point.
05:06Maybe it would make sense if Silver explained that the reason he's scared of Shadow is because he's red and black.
05:11Which are stereotypical evil colors, and I know he's not familiar with media.
05:17But I feel like it's instinctive for people to think of black and red as intimidating colors.
05:22So he could have just assumed that he dyed his hair that way to scare people.
05:27Or at least be rebellious, which could also be intimidating.
05:30Shadow says he won't let Silver harm the doctor.
05:34Showing empathy for the evil mad scientist for some bizarre reason.
05:39It really should have been explained that he's a shadow android in this game.
05:43Silver asks a question.
05:45His picture doesn't look confrontational at all.
05:48It looks like he just casually walked up to him and somehow expected him to answer his friendly question.
05:55It makes him a bit endearing because he's so naive.
05:59But how can he be that naive when he's from a bad future?
06:03With a dark cavern in the background, Shadow asks Eggman if Silver is the one he warned him about in his transmission.
06:10Eggman, who is standing in front of Shadow and Silver, says he doesn't know what he's talking about.
06:16Meanwhile, Sonic and Knuckles confront Eggman in a different time in a different part of the cave.
06:21And Eggman says he'll let them pick a car of their choosing if they win a fight with him.
06:26Why would he hold up his end of the bargain?
06:28I guess they only trust him to out of desperation.
06:31Eggman leaves after Sonic beats him, apparently without letting him get any of the cards.
06:37And then Silver shows up.
06:39Why is he being so confrontational here?
06:42I guess his future doesn't have any records of Sonic because he was destroyed by a monster.
06:47And he just got here, so of course he doesn't know about the hero of the world.
06:52Really, Silver? I can't tell you why?
06:56So what if Silver's on a secret mission?
06:59Why does it have to be a secret anyways?
07:02It would make sense if the real reason for him not telling him why is that he thinks he won't believe him.
07:08But then he should have just said that.
07:11Shouldn't he know that Sonic would become suspicious of him and antagonize him if he doesn't tell him anything?
07:17Because that's just gonna make him think
07:19he wants to work for Eggman.
07:21Why can't he tell him why? Why does he need to get to Eggman before him?
07:25Why can't they just team up?
07:27I like Sonic saying that he likes challenges.
07:31So he decides to race him there because Silver didn't explain himself.
07:35You'd expect Sonic to be completely guaranteed to get there first.
07:38But when you think about it, with Silver's telekinesis, why wouldn't he be able to go at the speed of sound?
07:44Why wouldn't he be able to push himself through the air as fast as sound?
07:49I assume he can't, but it wouldn't be surprising if he could because it's supposed to be magic.
07:54Silver has a homing attack in this game.
07:56So it could make sense that he's as fast as Sonic.
08:00Meanwhile, Rouge calls up Shadow saying that she's found out something interesting about Eggman.
08:05But insists on not telling him until later for some reason and tells Shadow to keep chasing him for now.
08:11Knuckles shows up, Shadow insults him for letting Eggman get away, and the two of them decide to race each other to get to him.
08:19So the story moves on to Coliseum Highway.
08:22That's a pretty weird name for a highway come to think about it.
08:25Silver tells Sonic to move aside because he already told him he wanted to talk to Eggman first.
08:31And then when Sonic says he's annoying him,
08:34he tells him to prepare himself instead of immediately saying to Eggman what he wanted to say.
08:39Why does he have to be right in Eggman's face?
08:42This plot is dumb.
08:44Meanwhile, Shadow catches up with Eggman at a different time from the other storylines and asks him what he's hiding,
08:50with Knuckles telling him to mind his own business.
08:53Why are you standing up for Eggman?
08:55They're all supposed to be on the same side. Why aren't they on the same side?
09:00If all these heroes were sprayed with magic powder
09:03that caused them to forget that they're all on the same side and be more competitive with each other,
09:09then the plot wouldn't be bad.
09:11I mean, it would be pretty overpowered, so it could have been explained that there's barely any powder left.
09:17Rouge contacts Shadow and tries to tell him what she learned about Eggman, only to be interrupted.
09:23I've always hated when this happens in a story.
09:26All it does is make me really frustrated with the character for not immediately coming out and saying what he needed to say
09:32bluntly and quickly instead of wasting time saying,
09:35You'll never guess what I found out!
09:37I sure hope the film doesn't cut me off while I waste time talking about something other than what I called you for.
09:42I know she couldn't have known that her call would be interrupted,
09:46but it just feels like a cheap way to make the reveal take longer to reach.
09:50For all she knows, Shadow could be interrupted.
09:53Because he put himself in danger.
09:55Each character at this point in the storyline gets warped by a flash of light.
10:02So Shadow makes it clear that he wants to catch up with Eggman.
10:06Why were they warped to the specific locations they were?
10:10This is like Sonic Mania.
10:12And Sonic, in his typical friendly competitor way, challenges them to a race. Well, at least this is in character for him.
10:20At least he's just having fun instead of being needlessly and inexplicably confrontational just to create conflict.
10:26Because either way they would have gone on a run.
10:29Meanwhile,
10:31Knuckles confronts Eggman, who says he'll give him a card as promised, only for a flash of light to happen, and then Silver shows up.
10:38Silver asks Knuckles politely if he saw Eggman carrying something strange.
10:43Let me guess, Knuckles won't answer from being arbitrarily confrontational, right? Oh, actually he does.
10:49Then he asks him who he is.
10:51So he's not necessarily a jerk to him just because he doesn't know who he is.
10:56It's not like he was completely rude to everybody he talked to in SA1 in the Hobworlds.
11:03When Knuckles shows that he doesn't know how Eggman got a hold of it,
11:07when it should be an easy assumption that he invented it,
11:11Silver naturally gets annoyed with him and leaves.
11:14Although still unlike him to talk like this, and Knuckles angrily decides to chase after him.
11:19While I can understand it being in a bad mood because he came back in time specifically to save his future,
11:25he wasn't like this in 06, which also had a bad future.
11:29I think I figured it out.
11:31His parents were jerks. This version of Silver had awful parents.
11:36And 06 Silver didn't, so he's a bit happier.
11:40They could have explained that because Cream has a parent.
11:44Knuckles asks Eggman how he made the Master Emerald disappear, and Eggman reveals that he actually is on Angel Island.
11:51Hence the name Sky Park.
11:53So are the other levels also in Angel Island?
11:57Why would there be a highway on Angel Island?
11:59It would make sense if Coliseum Highway was in the future, because Knuckles is long gone,
12:04so he can't object to a highway being built on his island.
12:07It obviously didn't leave any descendants behind.
12:11Although to be fair, how could one person stop a highway from being built?
12:16If Knuckles tried to kill somebody for making a highway on his island,
12:20he'd just become a wanted man, and Sonic would lecture him for trying to beat someone up.
12:26Eggman decides to send Metal Sonic to race against Knuckles.
12:29Wait, why doesn't he just send Metal Sonic to kill Knuckles?
12:33I guess he doesn't have any faith in him.
12:36So we're expected to believe that Knuckles can beat Metal Sonic in a race, when Knuckles is canonically not as fast as Sonic.
12:44Plus, Metal Sonic can fly.
12:46Why doesn't he fly over the whole level?
12:48Why would it be programmed or be ordered by Eggman on screen to let Knuckles win, which is the only reason he would win?
12:56Now I have to assume it makes sense because in terms of the actual story,
13:00Knuckles uses digging powers and punching through wall powers to cheat to win the race, while Metal Sonic
13:09didn't have the ability to fly because it was a punishment for his betrayal of Sonic Heroes.
13:15Meanwhile, Shadow confronts Eggman, asking if he knows where Rouge is.
13:21Eggman reveals that he turned Rouge into a card.
13:24So he's perfectly fine with having an overpowered easy victory against Rouge.
13:30And then sends Metal Sonic to race Shadow.
13:33So I guess the only reason he doesn't
13:35do this to all of his enemies in their sleep is that he doesn't know where they live.
13:40Or he thinks even that's too easy.
13:42He'd rather go out of his way to confront them with the machine
13:46after they've left their homes.
13:48Silver confronts Eggman.
13:50I guess he doesn't know that Eggman's an inventor, because otherwise he shouldn't be asking him how he got that technology.
13:57And Eggman sends Metal Sonic to race him.
14:00Proving that he has to be faster than Metal Sonic with his psychokinesis alone.
14:05Because logically, Metal Sonic would fly out for the whole level.
14:09Even if he was deprived of his flight by Eggman wanting to punish him for Sonic Heroes,
14:14he would still go through the level faster than him because he's as fast as Sonic.
14:19So it has to be that in the context of the story,
14:22Silver used psychokinesis to go through the ground and effortlessly get through the entire level.
14:29While Metal Sonic still had to do platforming and go around stuff. So of course he was slower.
14:34Why would Eggman send him to race him instead of sending him to try to kill him?
14:40I guess he doesn't want to kill Silver because he'd rather find a way to enslave him and take advantage of his psychokinesis.
14:46Or keep him alive long enough that he would make the technology to copy his abilities.
14:53Silver talks confidently.
14:55Although logically, he is right that he doesn't stand a chance against him because he has psychokinesis.
15:01Wait, why doesn't he just psychokinesis Metal Sonic to instantly tear him apart?
15:06I guess by the time he thought to try to do that, Metal Sonic already left him in the dust.
15:10And he has to be up close enough to something to telekinesis it.
15:14And Sonic also has to race Metal Sonic.
15:17Why is he racing him instead of fighting him?
15:20Why wasn't he told to fight him?
15:22I guess he had no faith in him to win because he lost every time he fought with him.
15:27Maybe he wants the heroes to stay alive so that he can say that he turned them into cards.
15:32It has to be that the card thing has a charge up.
15:35So he can't just turn them into cards as soon as they go up to him.
15:39Because it's out of battery. He has to charge it.
15:42So, Shadow says to himself in front of Knuckles that he needs to find the doctor.
15:47And then Knuckles has the bright idea to ask if he found Eggman.
15:50Were he not paying attention to anything that he said?
15:53Granted, maybe he was too far away to hear him.
15:56But it could have easily not had him talk out loud in the first place.
16:00Which he wouldn't do.
16:02Shadow taunts Knuckles for being clueless and having Eggman get away from him.
16:07It's not very character for him to taunt Knuckles.
16:11Silver mentions that he's looking for Eggman Nega.
16:14Who would never let the camera he's using out of his sight.
16:17There's no logical reason that he would have taken this long to say this.
16:23It's like the writer didn't have faith in the story to keep being interesting
16:26past the point where he said this.
16:29Because there's no reason to wait this long to reveal this.
16:32Unless you think the plot needs to have a plot twist like this.
16:36That only happens this far into the story.
16:39Sonic doesn't react to it because he just showed up
16:42before hearing what Silver had to say.
16:44So we don't get to find out if Rush already happened or not.
16:48It would have been nice to see Sonic's confused reaction
16:50to hearing that Eggman Nega was both from the future and from Blaze's dimension.
16:54Considering that the Rivals games are made by Backbone Entertainment
16:57while the Rush games are made by GIMPS,
16:59it does make sense that they give the character a different backstory from each other.
17:02Because they were probably just given the character design and told to go wild.
17:05I like to think that both are canon.
17:07Blaze's dimension is 200 years in the future compared to Sonic's.
17:11So he's both from a future and from the soul dimension at the same time.
17:15But this really shouldn't be left up to interpretation.
17:18One thing that confuses me though,
17:20is why is Eggman Nega pretending to be Eggman in front of Sonic and his allies in this game?
17:25When Sonic rushed, he said,
17:28you taught me by not using my full title,
17:31and reveals himself immediately.
17:33Meanwhile, Shadow confronts Eggman to find out what he's hiding,
17:37and Eggman Nega decides to tell him right away that he's got Eggman trapped in a card.
17:41Maybe he thought it'd be too risky to tell Sonic about it
17:43because Sonic is the famous hero of the world who defeated Eggman numerous times
17:47while Shadow only just became a hero and joined GUN.
17:51I'm assuming that's why he can keep in contact with Rouge
17:53through communicator transmissions like in 06.
17:56Because we never see the Sonic characters having cell phones for some reason.
18:00And this isn't the comics.
18:02So, I don't think they have personal risk communicators.
18:06Knuckles shows up,
18:07and Eggman explains that in the future,
18:09Angel Island gets renamed into Aang's Island.
18:13Why did Eggman Nega take so long to tell Shadow who he is if he's fine with telling him that?
18:18It's never really confirmed if Aang's Island is in Blaze's dimension,
18:22or actually in the future,
18:23and Eggman Nega just invented a time machine like Eggman did
18:26to retrieve Metal Sonic from Little Planet,
18:29and then force these guys into his trap.
18:33Shadow finds Silver and asks him why he's chasing after the Doctor.
18:37So now Silver recognizes him from his history books?
18:41And his dialogue to Shadow sucks.
18:44Just tell him what's going on already.
18:47Oh good, he actually tells him now.
18:49What does he mean, there's a chance?
18:51Why would he say there's a chance?
18:54Why didn't he tell Shadow that already?
18:56And then, Silver acts out a character once again by yelling at him
19:00and trying to attack him.
19:02Meanwhile, Knuckles complains that he got away instead of sticking around,
19:06and says that if there's one thing he's good at, it's running,
19:09only to wonder how he's in the future.
19:12Sonic's known for running, not Eggman.
19:15The one thing he's good at is inventing things, not just running.
19:19Knuckles complains that it doesn't make any sense.
19:22What he should be saying is it doesn't make any sense
19:24because why can't he just send his robots after him in the present?
19:29Sending them to the future would make sense
19:31if it was so that he could take advantage of his own army,
19:34because he's Eggman Nega.
19:36But then why is he still impersonating Eggman?
19:38He doesn't have to anymore because it's the future.
19:42So I guess he's literally just doing it so that he can feel smug
19:44about the fact that he thinks he's Eggman when he's not.
19:48And then we see Eggman yelling at Sonic,
19:50showing that Sonic ran ahead to him and got Tails' card back.
19:54If he just threw the card into the ocean,
19:57he should have just hid it in some underground bunker that belongs to him
20:02that he doesn't know where it is,
20:03and then he'd never be able to get her back.
20:06But it is in character for him to brag to his enemies.
20:10I assume he took a picture of the card to turn it back into Tails.
20:13Why would there be an antidote anyways?
20:16I guess it's for his robots to use it in case he's turned into a card.
20:20He should have just locked the feature out to everything but him
20:25so only he could be returned to normal.
20:27I guess he was so arrogant that he thought he wouldn't have to.
20:30I mean, he isn't used to dealing with the heroes.
20:33Sonic might have jumped up to the Eggmobile and stole the camera and card out of his hands,
20:38or homing attack the Eggmobile to shake it and make him drop them,
20:41which either way would have been cool to see!
20:44And then the heroes move on to Death Yard, which must have been named by Eggman.
20:49After Act 1 of the level is over, every character has to race Metal Sonic.
20:54I guess Sonic doesn't really mean it when he calls him lame,
20:57because you'd think he'd consider him to be a worthy opponent,
21:00considering how hard he was to take down in games like Sonic Heroes and Sonic the Fighters.
21:06Wait, what?
21:07Sonic never actually fought Metal Sonic in this game, so why did he have to be rebuilt?
21:12Maybe he wasn't using the real Metal Sonic in the first place.
21:16It just bothers me that he says the previous Metal Sonic
21:19when he wasn't destroyed at the end of Sonic Heroes,
21:22even though that would make a lot more sense than what IDW went with.
21:26But this is implying that the Metal Sonic after Sonic Rivals is not the same one from Sonic Heroes.
21:34Why would Eggman Nega lie to him that it's the previous Metal Sonic?
21:39I guess he's only speaking in a certain sense,
21:42and the current Metal Sonic still has the data of the previous Metal Sonic,
21:46and it's the same person either way, it's just that he changed bodies.
21:51When did Metal Sonic get destroyed?
21:53I can easily assume that he smashed into a wall after the race,
21:58but that should have been explained.
22:00Since the Master Emerald is a unique object that exists across the space-time continuum,
22:05when the future Emerald was turned into a card,
22:07its existence in all the time frames vanished as well.
22:10That's a pretty cool concept, but it makes it incredibly vulnerable though.
22:15Why was the Master Emerald ever around?
22:18Because it was always destined to be turned into a card by Eggman Nega.
22:22I think it's a stable time loop.
22:24I'm pretty sure that nothing outside of the games acknowledges this.
22:29And that makes sense, because what are the chances that only one future villain
22:34is destined to do something to the Master Emerald?
22:37Why is Knuckles surprised by this?
22:39He's the guardian of the Master Emerald.
22:42This kind of knowledge should have been in an Echidna scroll,
22:45or on a rune in Angel Island.
22:47I guess the knowledge was lost over time.
22:50I'm guessing Eggman Nega discovered that about the Emerald by accident
22:53when he took a picture of it in the future.
22:55Otherwise, it'd be pretty villainous of him to know more about the Master Emerald than Knuckles does.
23:01Silver confronts him on being Eggman Nega, and he finally admits to it.
23:05And that's when his picture changes to that of Eggman Nega.
23:08So now we have to assume that he used technology like nanobots,
23:12or his clothes are just that technological, that he changed the way he looked.
23:18He could be a robot.
23:20Roborobotnik changed the way he looked in a matter of seconds.
23:24And Shadow has to deal with Metal Sonic as well,
23:26after Eggman Nega reveals himself to him as well.
23:29And there's multiple ways to end up with kids.
23:32Not just he managed to get a girlfriend.
23:35They could have just explained that he made a kid of his with technology,
23:38and he just got the DNA from some random woman without her permission.
23:42Silver insists that he'll bring Eggman Nega back to where he came from.
23:46So why doesn't he just telekinetically float him over to it?
23:51I guess he would run out of energy and all that time.
23:53Also, I guess Eggman Nega is far enough away from him every time he talks to him
23:58that it's impossible for him to use telekinesis against him.
24:02For all we know, he's amplifying his voice with the Eggmobile.
24:06But that wouldn't stop Silver from just flying over to him.
24:09I guess I have to assume that he knows he'd run out of energy if he flew up for too long.
24:14And he knows that about Silver.
24:16Eggman Nega gets so frustrated that he decides to turn the entire planet into a card.
24:21It sounds really silly and laughable.
24:23And if you heard it out of context, you'd assume someone made it up as a joke.
24:28It's taken completely seriously in this game despite how ridiculous it is.
24:32Although to be fair, if someone capable of turning the planet into a card
24:35threatens to do it in front of you in real life,
24:37you'd be freaking out and taking it seriously too.
24:40It's also a great way to remind you of how insane and evil Eggman Nega is compared to Eggman.
24:46You just made me very, very angry.
24:48It's such a hammy, ridiculous line.
24:51I like it in an ironic sense.
24:54But it's not really natural to have characters announce how they feel.
24:59It's the kind of line you'd expect from a parody character.
25:03How would Eggman Nega not know that if he turns the entire planet into a card,
25:07he would kill himself?
25:09I guess he does know that and doesn't care.
25:11It'd make more sense if he explained that he could just warp back to the present day
25:16from something that he has with him at all times.
25:19So the story continues to meteor base.
25:22Eggman Nega tries to escape in a rocket with a giant version of the card camera.
25:27All while pretending to be Eggman.
25:28He tells Sonic that he's already gathered enough energy to take a picture of the entire planet.
25:33And he has to put Amy's card through the energy transfer device to do it.
25:37It sure is convenient that he managed to find Amy.
25:40Tails and Rouge I could understand because it could have been after him.
25:45But why Amy?
25:47He wouldn't know where she lived.
25:48I guess he just conveniently stumbled into her in the park.
25:52Sonic says he totally forgot about Amy.
25:55What a dick.
25:56It could be funny if you're in the right mood though.
25:58So Amy gets rescued and she's dizzy and doesn't know what's going on.
26:02How inconvenient that it causes you to be dizzy for no reason.
26:06When it's by definition having you go back to the way you were before and you weren't dizzy before.
26:12Sonic points out that Eggman had other cards with him when he ran away.
26:15And he runs away to come after him.
26:17That's an anticlimactic ending.
26:20Knuckles gets his Master Emerald back.
26:23It's pretty confusing that Silver says my future and as well.
26:28This one line implies that Eggman Nega and Sonic are not from the same world as Silver.
26:35Which makes sense because if he's from another dimension,
26:38then of course he's going to be completely different from 06 Silver.
26:43Eggman Nega is turned into a card himself somehow.
26:46And Silver decides to return every card back to normal.
26:50Including Eggman's because Silver is naive like that.
26:53What an idiot.
26:55I guess it makes sense because he doesn't know Eggman's evil.
26:59Because otherwise, why doesn't he just return him to normal in a police station
27:03and then handcuff them when he's dizzy?
27:06Eggman Nega explains to Shadow before the previous boss why he wants to destroy the world.
27:11Explaining that he wants to alter his own family history
27:13and have it so that the world recognizes his genius by erasing Eggman's life and failures.
27:19How is destroying the world going to alter the family history?
27:23Never mind the fact that Eggman's already had a bunch of failures in the world
27:26and got an infamous reputation.
27:28Never mind the fact that if he really is descended from Eggman,
27:31then making it so that Eggman could never have a descendant
27:34would result in Eggman Nega never even existing in the first place.
27:38Of course, Eggman Nega is insane, so naturally he doesn't see logic.
27:42So this is the part where it being a twist that he's Eggman Nega instead of Eggman
27:47is actually taken advantage of because Eggman wouldn't turn the world into a card.
27:51But it could just as easily be rewritten that Eggman was hit with an insane rain.
27:57Besides, the fact that someone wants to turn the planet into a card
27:59doesn't even have to be written at all.
28:02It doesn't even matter because it's not going to actually happen
28:05and then the heroes have to go back in time.
28:07That would have been more interesting.
28:09It's just Eggman Nega to make it a more threatening ending.
28:13But Eggman's someone who split the planet in half.
28:16I think he would merely threaten to turn the world into a card,
28:19but not actually mean it.
28:20In a ploy to get world domination.
28:23So it's not really the plot twisting.
28:26And for all we know, Eggman Nega doesn't mean it either.
28:29Wait, first he said Amy's card and then he says Rouge's card?
28:34I guess he can do it with any card.
28:37So he's specifying which card he's using to taunt the person who cares about the card.
28:42Not because it matters which card he uses.
28:45That's confusing.
28:46Did he try the same plan four times in a row and got stopped four times in a row?
28:51It is like him to be stubborn.
28:53I can understand that Amy and Rouge have magical powers of their own
28:56that could give their cards power for a rocket.
28:59But not as much power as the Master Emerald.
29:02I guess he didn't need as much power as the Master Emerald.
29:05So using the Master Emerald card was just overkill.
29:09I say Amy has magical powers because not only is she fast in Sonic Heroes,
29:13but she's also got a tornado hammer move.
29:17After Shadow beats the previous boss fight, he rescues Rouge.
29:21The endings are all the more underwhelming from the way the cutscenes are presented.
29:25This plot sucks.
29:27It's a dumb story because of arbitrary reasons for conflict.
29:30And Silver's character being mangled into a bully with no social skills.
29:35It's also a pretty bland story.
29:38The card camera is the only thing new.
29:41That's silly even for a Sonic game.
29:43I like the reveal that it's really Angel Island from the future.
29:47But nothing was actually done with it.
