One in three travellers have no idea how to pack a suitcase efficiently

One in three travellers admit they have no idea how to pack a suitcase efficiently.

A poll of 2,000 people found 26 per cent have resorted to sitting on their suitcase to close it and 11 per cent have faced baggage weight penalties.

More than half (56 per cent) have suffered a packing disaster as a result, such as broken zips (21 per cent) and toiletries leaking (20 per cent).

Another packing frustration is crumpled clothes, with 64 per cent willing to do anything to avoid clothes getting creased whilst travelling.

And 76 per cent would ‘love it’ if they could unpack a suitcase and find nothing inside needed ironing.

In response to these findings, Lenor Crease Releaser, which commissioned the survey, has worked with former A Place in the Sun presenter and expert packer, Danni Menzies to share her top tips for savvy packing.

00:00What I love about travelling for pleasure is that feeling of just being able to switch off.
00:07Sometimes packing for a trip can be way more stressful than the actual journey itself.
00:12Have I got the right things? Are my clothes going to be creased? Trust me, I know all about it.
00:16So that's why I've teamed up with Lenore Crease Releaser to give you some of my top travel tips.
00:22When I'm going away, I like to create a capsule wardrobe so that I've got items that I can mix
00:26and match and also items that can be worn more than once so that my clothes are working for me.
00:33Also, don't overpack because do you know what? There's always time for shopping.
00:38Packing tricks. So when I'm packing, I always like to start from the outside of my suitcase
00:42and work my way in. I'll put the heaviest items by the wheels. I'll also like to put all my
00:47toiletries into sealable bags and I always like to put my knickers and socks into my shoes.
00:53And jewellery, hats, scarves, accessories into my little handbags. You've just arrived at the wedding
01:00venue in the south of France. Your flight was delayed and you have 30 minutes to get ready
01:05and get to that wedding. You open your suitcase and your dress is creased. I know it sounds pretty
01:11stressful, doesn't it? Well, not if you've got my secret weapon, Lenore Crease Releaser. It's as easy
01:17as spritz, pull, smooth and watch the creases disappear. Packing efficiently. I like to use
01:23packing cubes or vacuum-packed bags work too to maximise space in your suitcase. I also like to
01:29decant toiletries or just pick up some minis at the airport. Hand luggage. I think it's a great
01:34idea to wear your heaviest items, whether that's shoes or clothes. Just means you've got that bit
01:39more space in your suitcase. I'd always say as well, prepare for the worst. Now I'm talking from
01:46experience here, so definitely have the essentials in your carry-on tote. A change of clothes, a
01:52toothbrush, some pants, just in case there's nothing worse than arriving on holiday and your suitcase not showing up.
