Tracy Mattes WOA Video Diary from Mozambique

World Olympians Association Director of Global Programs, Tracy Mattes documents her visit to Mozambique, illustrating how sport and education programs can make a real difference in the fight against extreme poverty. In this moving video, her visit shows how basic education and literacy programs are the key to breaking the cycles of poverty, while showing the power of sport and Olympism in bringing people together, teaching values and creating peace and harmony. Mattes is a former American athlete and was appointed UN Special Representative in 2005. These are the first actions taken as part of a collaborative agreement between the World Olympians Association, the United Nations office on Sport for Development and Peace, the United Nations World Tourism Organization ST-EP Foundation, the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), and the OlympAfrica Foundation. Next month this same program will be implemented on OlympAfrica centers in Mali and Senegal
