00:00So this facility is virtually finished. It's a 44-bed facility.
00:05The young people that come in here will be on a pathway to turn their lives around,
00:09to improve their lives, to get an education, to get training,
00:13and not to find themselves coming back to this facility.
00:18Our government is very much focused on turning around the lives of young people.
00:23The young people who find themselves in a youth detention facility, that's the end of the line.
00:28We have that interim step with the residential youth justice facilities
00:31that we've been delivering across the Northern Territory,
00:34four residential youth justice facilities, but this is the detention facility.
00:39This replaces Don Dale.
00:42When this facility is opened, I don't want to hear the name Don Dale again in the Northern Territory.
00:48This is about replacing what we've seen in the past,
00:52all of the bad stories, all the negative stories that are linked to that previous facility.
00:59This is about turning the corner for youth in the Northern Territory that have done the wrong thing.
