00:00You talk about the endorsement and the fundraising. The nonprofit fundraising
00:05site ActBlue said last night that as of 9 p.m. nearly 50 million dollars had
00:10been raised by grassroots supporters that day. It was the largest fundraising
00:15day of the 2024 election cycle so far. Kelly, can you put into context, I mean
00:21this is an historic moment, and so some of these numbers are naturally going to
00:25sound very big, but what do you think of it all? Can you contextualize this for us?
00:29Yeah, no, and I wouldn't downplay it. I mean, I think this is real. It looks
00:34like she's on track to maybe be the highest, like, 24 hours on ActBlue in
00:39history. So not only just in this campaign as, you know, as we're not even
00:43through 24 hours, I think, at this point. So, you know, I think that is hugely
00:50notable. And what fundraising is, right, in the sense of, yes, her campaign
00:56needs the resources because we all live in a system that where money is very
01:00influential in political contests. But money is also not just for buying
01:07campaign ads and funding your campaign staff. Fundraising metrics also are
01:13indicators of support. And so especially in this 24 hours, her being able to
01:18generate not only high dollars, but also high numbers of donors. These are a lot
01:23of small donors. When you invest in a campaign financially, you are much more
01:29likely to show up on election day. Even if you gave 25 bucks, you know, that you
01:34have invested enough, you took the time, you're enthusiastic enough that you also
01:39probably will make the effort to mail in that ballot or show up on election day.
01:43You might even be more willing to volunteer in other ways on the campaign.
01:48So part of what this fundraising, I think, why it's even more important than the
01:52actual dollar amount is it's showing that that support for Kamala is not at
01:58all wavering. I think there were some certainly within the Democratic Party who
02:02felt like, oh, there's no way she wins over either the Biden stalwarts or, you
02:08know, the more progressive wing of the party. Well, she's winning over a lot of
02:12people in a short amount of time. And so I think it is a rebuttal from the
02:16campaign through those metrics, at least to start with.
