00:00During the season, it's a lot, you getting hit, hit, hit.
00:05So it's better to rehab your body before your next game.
00:08You're really not trying to lift heavy weights and stuff
00:10because you can probably pull something.
00:11But that's why the off season is so important.
00:13Cry hard, shine hard, you know, whatever.
00:16You're here with Lamar Jackson,
00:18QB of the Baltimore Ravens,
00:19and I'm going to show you guys how I work out.

00:35I started working out probably 2005,
00:37and it was with my mother.
00:39And there wasn't no gym, like it was backyard,
00:42running, running up hills, going to the beach, working out.
00:45So I've been started.
00:46Favorite exercise?
00:48I try to make all of them my favorite, to be honest.
00:50For me, everything is important.
00:51Trying to eat properly, you know, proper nutrition.
00:53I'm a picky eater, so it depends on how I'm feeling.
00:56And what I need, I hit up my nutritionist,
00:59you know, from the Ravens.
01:00Like, man, I need this right here so I can slim down,
01:02or I need this to gain weight, stuff like that.
01:05At the same time, I'm running, lifting, the regular stuff.
01:10Countless part of the season, we'll say,
01:12it's not really off-season anymore
01:13because you strictly football only.
01:15So, obviously wake up at 6 a.m.,
01:17got to be to work on time.
01:18You know, meetings probably at 7.15 or something, 7.30.
01:22Meetings, meetings, meetings.
01:23Man, working out, we hit the gym and go to working out.
01:27As the season going, you're not really working out as hard
01:30as much as, you know, usually doing off-season,
01:32pre-season, stuff like that,
01:33because you're getting hit every Sunday, Thursday.
01:35High impact game,
01:36so you're really not working those muscles anymore.
01:39But off-season, it's all go.
01:41You're trying to get your body back in shape,
01:42or, you know, just trying to stay in shape,
01:44if anything like that.
01:45Now I want to take you guys on a workout circuit
01:47that I do when I'm on the go.
01:49So, the first thing I will hit is resistance band curls.
01:52When I'm on the go,
01:53I don't have to necessarily go downstairs to a gym.
01:57When I'm at a hotel, when I'm vacationing,
01:59I don't have to go out and, you know,
02:01see people in the weight room if everything is took away.
02:04I can just be in my room and work out for 45 minutes,
02:07an hour, however long, to get my body in shape.
02:10I like to do this exercise because it helps with my forearms,
02:13and I need my forearms to throw the ball.
02:15Tight spirals through the wind,
02:17So, next movement is the dumbbell incline press.
02:20So, I like to do this workout
02:22because it helps pumping out my chest, you know,
02:24even though QB is not the ones that always have the chest,
02:28but it helps us stay in shape as well.
02:31Mondays, I'm probably trying to recover.
02:34Depending on the type of hits I took that game,
02:36or if my body feel, you know, weird a little,
02:40I might take a break.
02:41I'm going to take a break,
02:42and then I'm going to get back in shape.
02:45You know, weird a little, I might get a little maintenance,
02:48but other than that, I'll probably chill on Mondays.
02:51Tuesdays, back to recovering, you know,
02:52go see the trainers, rehab, full body maintenance,
02:55you know, just whatever's bothering me,
02:56or if nothing's bothering me,
02:57just trying to keep my body intact.
02:59Just, you know, get a massage, stuff like that.
03:01You know, just hit the steam room,
03:02hit the ice tub, you know, cold baths and stuff like that.
03:05Pretty much do that throughout the whole week,
03:07up until Sunday or whenever we play.
03:10The next movement is the renegade pushups.
03:13I like to do with the dumbbells.
03:16Everyone know pushups is the most common workout that we do,
03:19but adding a dumbbell with the pushups causes extra burn.
03:23That's why I rather use this.
03:26So I probably do three sets of eight to 12
03:31when I'm doing these pushups because of the extra weight.
03:35Eventually, the hits you take in the league,
03:37it's going to take a toll on your body.
03:38I got to stay in shape.
03:38I got to bulk up, got to stay fast.
03:41You know, I got to be able to move
03:42because there's defensive linemen in the league
03:43that's, you know, coming to try to take my head off
03:46and leave, you know?
03:46So I got to be intact for that,
03:48keep my speed right, agility, stuff like that,
03:50and be able to take hits, you know,
03:52be able to brace for hits.
03:53So that's when the heavy lifting come into play.
03:57You know, just to keep my stomach core right,
03:59I like to do Russian twists with the dumbbell as well.
04:03As for the Russian twist with the dumbbell, you know,
04:06we do those three sets of probably 30 seconds,
04:09depending on what our coach is saying
04:10or depending on what they want me to do.
04:12It helps with your core, the torque on the ball,
04:15you know, the power of velocity.
04:17It helps in that way for us, QBs.
04:20Team do, like, send us workouts like for the off season,
04:22but you might be working out on your own
04:24and doing something else different from the team,
04:26but it's on you.
04:27I do work out by myself,
04:28but I prefer with a trainer or teammates or something.
04:30Sometimes I know if I'm working
04:32and I feel like I overworked myself,
04:34I might cut the time.
04:36As for my next exercise, it's going to be an ab rollout,
04:39you know, just to work my core, obviously,
04:41stability, agility, and balance.
04:47Every day I wake up just knowing
04:49I want to accomplish something with life,
04:51you know, just trying to live out my purpose,
04:53you know, just having God wake me up
04:55and I know it's something he woke me up for,
04:58you know, just knowing that's on my mind
05:00and just knowing that's everyday life for me
05:02and knowing I want to win championships.
05:05So I'm motivated each and every day.
05:07So that was my personal workout at home.
05:10I want you guys to go grab it,
05:13do whatever you got to do,
05:14get in tune with it, love it.
