00:00We go now to Venezuela, where Special Envoy Junius Zuner has the latest on the race towards
00:05the presidential election on July 28th.
00:08Hello, good morning from Caracas, Venezuela, actually from the Ministry of Defense, where
00:15we are right now, because here will be the place where the Minister of Defense, Padrino
00:21Lopez, will receive a delegation of the Carter Center, a U.S. think tank that will be one
00:29of the groups watching over the elections here in Venezuela.
00:33The Carter Center is pretty welcome here, because it has previously already validated
00:39and verified that the electoral system in Venezuela is one of the best in the world.
00:44It has expressed publicly its confidence in its functioning and truthfulness in reflecting
00:50the will of the Venezuelan people.
00:52The Minister will explain to the delegation how the republic plan works.
00:57This is the plan within which the armed forces are overseeing and managing all the security
01:05aspects related to the elections on July 28th.
01:09That means they secure the ballot boxes, they secure the voting centers, they secure the
01:15transfer of data and make sure that voters arrive safely to the election centers to cast
01:22their votes.
01:23So, all these details, which include deployment of hundreds of thousands of soldiers to election
01:29centers on that day, a regular scheme, by the way, will be explained to the representatives,
01:35to the delegation of the Carter Center that consists of eight members, headed by Jenny
01:40Lincoln, who is the principal advisor for Latin America and the Caribbean in the Carter
01:46Center.
01:47They will unite here, the Ministry will explain the details, how that republic plan works,
01:52if they have, they will have questions and exchange, and we expect them to hold a short
01:59press meeting, press conference afterwards, but details are not provided yet.
