00:00Welcome to Abercrombie Garden Centre's Mediterranean Garden, created by my good friend Charlie.
00:06This is going to be something amazing in a couple of years' time, even though it looks absolutely fantastic right now.
00:12Planted a few vines this side. What varieties are those, Charlie?
00:16Well, these are Negrano. These are from Sicily.
00:19So they're ideally situated in this greenhouse because it's nice and warm, same temperature.
00:23It does get a bit hot in here.
00:25It is, yeah. It's getting hot now, yeah.
00:27For some people who remember the day, these are Lambrusco, and these are from Tuscany.
00:32And again, they need a hot environment here.
00:35And plus Sangiovese and Syrah over here.
00:40And we've got a Grenache outside.
00:42But these are all designed for inside here.
00:44Otherwise, if we used British vines in here, they'd be too hot to be in here.
00:50But we have got cold climate vines, which Gavin has recently put in.
00:54So the idea, what me and Charlie envisaged going forward, was to see these vines grow up above us.
01:01We've got the framework of the Greenhouse, and we're going to fly wires across.
01:06We're going to have branches growing everywhere.
01:08It's going to be grapes everywhere, that's the goal, and then hopefully get some wine.
01:11Yeah, well, it might be fruit juice, it might be vinegar this year.
01:14But next year, these will be grown as in a real trellising,
01:18you know, with the Abergavenny and the Asconican, more and more important to vines and winemaking.
01:24So next year, they'll be this big, but many, many more of them.
01:28We've got a little press ready.
01:30Obviously, we've got wine barrels on call.
01:32Yeah, we can get those, that's no problem.
01:34Yeah, and what we also have here is designs.
01:38So you can see, I can mix the gravels.
01:40Very, very easy to make a Mediterranean garden.
01:43Those Indian summers in UK more popular.
01:45We can have a nice coffee in the morning.
01:47But mine are grapes.
01:48Look at your olive trees.
01:50Oranges and citruses.
01:52Yeah, it's great.
01:53Aloe vera, perfect for sunburn.
01:55I'm sure it's going to happen this year.
01:57I'm sure it's going to happen.
01:58It feels like it's happening today, actually.
01:59Yeah.
02:00It's all changed today.
02:01Yeah, it has changed.
02:02And this was completely created by Charlie.
02:04So you can see, everything you see here is from the garden set in one way or another.
02:08Most of this was broken bags of gravel, not being used for anything.
02:11I mean, look what he's created.
02:13And hopefully, this will grow.
02:14And I can't wait to show you all, guys, in the next couple of years,
02:16what's actually going to be achieved in this greenhouse.
02:18Yeah.
02:19So come on up here.
02:20And it's just for ideas.
02:21You can sit on our bench here and just have a look.
02:24Take a photograph of the corner, a sunny spot in your garden.
02:26And all the advice is up here, especially through Gavin's knowledge.
02:31Thank you.
