00:00marking the official opening of the IJN Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Clinic.
00:06Today's grand rounds and innovation of IJN's Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Clinic,
00:11the CRRC marks a significant milestone in the Ministry's effort
00:17to optimize cardiovascular disease care in Malaysia,
00:21particularly the atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases,
00:25ASCVD, or the circulatory disorders,
00:29a leading cause of morbidity and mortality
00:33that has just been 17-18% premature death due to IHD,
00:40and in total of 30%, or more or less,
00:45if you take account of the ASCVD's premature death,
00:50both cardiovascular accidents and as well IHD,
00:54that is truly very alarming indeed.
00:58Cardiovascular diseases account for nearly 1 in 4 of all deaths in Malaysia,
01:04as I've stated, 23.3%,
01:07and have been so for many years.
01:12And one of the major risk factors of ASCVD is your bad cholesterol,
01:19the high cholesterol, despite the high intensity statin
01:23that you've been using over these years.
01:26According to the 2023 National Health and Morbidity Survey,
01:301 in 3 of Malaysian adults, 33%, have this condition,
01:36and despite treatment, the challenge has always been that
01:40this is a gap that needs to be bridged more alarmingly, worryingly.
01:471 in 2 adults in Malaysia have high cholesterol,
01:55and they don't even know it.
01:57And this is more alarming.
02:00Ladies and gentlemen, since its establishment 2 years ago,
02:03CRRC has a patient-oriented, patient-centred cardiovascular service
02:09that has treated close to 600 patients,
02:11significantly improving their quality of life and health outcomes.
02:16CRRC represents a groundbreaking and innovative public-private partnership
02:23aimed at transforming the treatment paradigms for cardiovascular disease,
02:28underscoring IJM's leadership in cardiac care and its ongoing pursuit
02:35to ensure its services reach its targeted demographic groupings.
02:43As a pioneering cardiovascular risk reduction clinic,
02:47CRRC operates as a systematic management protocol
02:52with well-defined inclusion criteria and checklists.
02:56This approach seamlessly integrates allied health professionals
03:01and clinicians for closer follow-up and monitoring,
03:05creating valuable research opportunities on CRRC outcomes.
03:11That's another spin-off of it.
03:13Additionally, it facilitates close auditing of the latest innovative
03:16but necessary therapies while addressing diabetes, hypertension and obesity
03:22as critical co-factors in comprehensive patient care.
03:26More patients can achieve their target LDL, C-goal or LDL cholesterol goals,
03:35potentially reducing the recurrence of ASCPD events and hospitalisations.
03:45It incorporates multidisciplinary care and includes patient empowerment for improved compliance.
03:51Various strategies including using the CRRC multidisciplinary clinic
03:56to optimise patients' risk.
03:58This replicable and scalable concept of public-private partnership
04:03and this is the first time I'm mentioning it as a public-private initiative as well.
04:10This IGN Grand Round aligns perfectly with our Health Ministry's
04:18National Strategic Plan for Non-Convergible Diseases for 2016 and 2025.
04:24The Ministry hopes to see more initiatives like this in the near future.
04:34Such efforts foster innovative solutions through comprehensive care models
04:39which can further improve health literacy, health outcomes and the well-being of our citizens,
04:47of our rakyat in this Madani government under the Right Honourable Al-Husayn al-Ibrahim.
04:53So that would be the way to forge through in these 3 years, 3 over years,
05:00lasting a 15 parliamentary sessions and beyond.
