00:03Mindfulness is simply paying attention
00:05to your environment, activities, and thoughts
00:08in a neutral and nonjudgmental way.
00:10So you're limiting your thoughts to your present situation.
00:13If other thoughts intrude on this process,
00:17you bring your attention back to the present.
00:19For example, if you're mowing the grass,
00:21think about the things that you see, smell, hear,
00:24and taste and feel while you're cutting the grass.
00:28Practicing mindfulness helps declutter your mind.
00:31When your mind gets cluttered, you feel stressed.
00:34And this can come in the form of feeling tense,
00:36tired, overwhelmed, irritable.
00:39Not only can this affect you negatively,
00:41but it can also affect your relationships
00:43with the people most important to you.
00:45If your mind is overloaded,
00:47you can become emotionally unavailable
00:49and not fully engaged with the people around you.
