00:33a synthetic strain of cannabis concealed in incense candles, game parks, dry hibiscus leaves
00:37and ladies' native wales through the Motala Mohanan International Airport, MMIA, and some
00:41courier farms in Lagos have been thwarted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement
00:45Agency, NDLEA, following the seizure of the illicit shipments and arrests of suspects linked
00:49to them. A businessman, Abduwaham Owolebi Alebioshi was on Thursday, the 18th of July 2024,
00:54arrested at his Horizon Court, Leki, Lagos residents after a consignment of 40 parcels
00:59of loud-weighing 20.30kg hidden in parts of chessboards, scrambles, checkers, and poker
01:04sets brought in from Canada on a British Airways flight was intercepted at the SAHCO import shed
01:09of the Lagos airport during a joint examination of the cargo with men of Customs Service.
01:13A search of his home also led to the recovery of more exhibits including some drug paraphernalia,
01:18such as weighing scale and cannabis potency test kit, while four vaping machines were
01:22recovered from his business premises on Admiralty Way, Leki. A Meccano black truck with registration
01:27number FST657HP was also recovered from his house. In the same van, NDLEA operatives at the NACO
01:34export shed of the MMIA on Friday, the 19th of July intercepted two jumbo bags going to Pakistan.
01:39The bags contained dried hibiscus leaves, dried bitter leaves and other food items,
01:44which were used to conceal four parcels of cocaine and 14 parcels of loud, both weighing 1.360kg.
01:50Further investigations led to the arrest of a businesswoman.
01:53SA Queen Ogechinko claimed she was sending the illicit consignment to Pakistan on the
01:56instruction of her brother, SA Inambi promised best in the South Asia country.
02:01Also at the Lagos airport, NDLEA operatives attached to Terminal 2,
02:05departure gate of the MMIA, on Thursday, the 18th of July intercepted a male Vietnamese passenger,
02:10Orobi Adobe Amen, travelling with a bag containing some female native dresses.
02:14The suspect was going to Dubai via Accra, Ghana on an Air Peace airline flight and
02:18a connecting flight to Dubai, UAE on Emirates Airline.
02:22A thorough search of the bag revealed 8 parcels of loud weighing 2.10kg were
02:26concealed in the ladies' native wares. The suspect claimed he was giving the
02:29consignment for a fee of 600,000 Liras on successful delivery in Dubai.
02:33Not less than 4.5kg of the same substance concealed inside the door panels and boot
02:38of an imported Toyota RAV4 vehicle was on Sunday, the 14th of July recovered from a
02:42container marked MSDU-5656394 from Canada during a 100% search of the container at
02:47Tincan Port in Lagos. Two suspects, Dada Kone and Alaba Oladunsi have been arrested
02:52in connection with the seashore. Meanwhile, a 48-year-old one-legged man,
02:56Amadu Gaba was arrested by NDLEA operatives in his house at Yaori Town,
03:01Kempi State with 6 bags of cannabis weighing 67kg on Tuesday, the 16th of July.
03:06In Amuja, two suspects, 60-year-old Ademola Elisa Kim and 34-year-old Nuhu Friday Adamu
03:11were arrested by NDLEA operatives on Monday, the 15th of July with 30.0kg of the same
03:16psychoactive substance along Kuala Lumpur-Gulada-Abuja Expressway on their way from Lagos to
03:20Nasarawa State. Elisa Kim claimed he procured the consignment from Ghana via Lagos with
03:25Kefi, Nasarawa State as his final destination, where they were to supply illegal miners
03:29operating in the area. At least, 305 blocks of cannabis weighing 152.5kg were recovered
03:36from a suspect, Sel Buka, 39, who was arrested at Gedan in Yome State on Sunday, the 14th of
03:41July while taking the illicit consignment to Dikwa in Niger Republic. While a suspect,
03:46Ahamregal Chaibeze, 43, was nabbed on Thursday, the 18th of July with 60kg of same substance
03:52along Oweri-Onicha Expressway, Imo State, Adamu Abdullahi, 24, was arrested with 40.500kg on
03:59way the 17th of July along Obajanakaba Expressway, Kugi State. The consignment was recovered from
04:04him in a commercial bus coming from Lagos on Rutkalu. In Klatu State, a raid on the storehouse
04:09of a notorious drug dealer, Choche Gyan aka Pararam, who is currently at large at Rukuba
04:14Road, just led to the recovery of 34 bags of cannabis weighing 312kg while his manager,
04:20Kelvin Onutalu, 43, was arrested. Two suspects, Ifame Johnson, 27, and Adeleke Musselini,
04:2754, were on Friday, the 19th of July arrested with different strands of cannabis Satiba
04:32weighing 30.4kg during a raid in Ushubu, Oshun State. In Jigawa State, the trial of Tuko Yahaya,
04:3955, Idris Haruna, 28, and Tanimu Umar, 29, were nabbed with 90 blocks of cannabis weighing 116.8kg
04:48at Ronin Junction, Kazare local government area, on Friday, the 19th of July while on their way
04:52to supply the illicit drugs to their customers in Kazare, Yankoshi and Katsina State. Similarly,
04:57the duo of Ibrahim Abdulkadir, 29, and Suleman Mohamed, 22, were arrested with 336 bottles
05:04of codeine syrup at Amigu, Kaduna, while Awalu Hashimu, 35, was nabbed with 45kg of cannabis
05:10along Zaria Kano Highway. Acting on credible intelligence, a team of NDLEA operatives backed
05:16by soldiers raided a mechanic workshop opposite Benin Garage, Akure, on those days where they
05:20recovered a white Toyota Hilux van with registration number EE328EKY loaded with
05:25652 parcels of cannabis weighing 685kg. In Nasara State, 38kg of the same psychoactive
05:32substance and a locally made AK-47 rifle were recovered from the home of a suspect,
05:36Christopher Omugadu, 32, in Akwandan during a raid on Sunday, the 14th of July. With the same vigor,
05:42commands and formations of the agency across the country continued their war against drug abuse,
05:47wider sensitization activities to schools, worship centers, workplaces and communities
05:52in the past week. These include WADA Enlightenment Lecture for Students and Teachers of Federal
05:57Science and Technical College, Dei, Katsina State, Community High School, Senior Oode,
06:03Ogun State, Oban Secondary School, Agu, Enugu State and Gorete Secondary Commercial School,
06:08Ikot-Epene, Akwa Iwong State, among others. While commanding the officers and men of MMIA,
06:14Tinkan, Kemi, Nasarawa, Ondo, Kaduna, Jigawa, Oshun, Yobe, Platu, Kogi, Iwong and FCT commands
06:22of the agency for the arrests and seizures, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA,
06:28Brigadier General Mohamed Boubamawa, retired, noted that their operational successes and those
06:32of their compatriots across the country are well appreciated. He urged them not to rest on their
06:37oars but continue to intensify ongoing drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts.
