00:00Mr. Impossible.
00:07By Roger Hargreaves.
00:09Mr. Impossible could do the most amazing things.
00:13For instance, Mr. Impossible could jump over a house.
00:18You try it.
00:19It's impossible.
00:21And Mr. Impossible could make himself invisible.
00:25All he had to do was stand there and think about becoming invisible and he became invisible.
00:31You try it.
00:33It's impossible.
00:35And Mr. Impossible could fly.
00:38All he had to do was stand there and flap his arms about, and off he flew.
00:43You try it.
00:45It's impossible.
00:47And Mr. Impossible lived in an impossible looking house.
00:51Have you ever seen a house in such an impossible place?
00:55Of course not.
00:57One day Mr. Impossible was out walking in the woods when he met a boy called William.
01:03William was on his way to school.
01:06Hello said Mr. Impossible.
01:09Hello replied William.
01:11Im William.
01:13Im Impossible said Mr. Impossible.
01:16Really, said William.
01:19He smiled Mr. Impossible.
01:22Can you do impossible things, asked William.
01:26Haven't come across anything I couldn't do replied Mr. Impossible modestly.
01:31William thought.
01:33Can you climb up that tree, he asked pointing to the biggest in the wood.
01:38I can do better than that replied Mr. Impossible.
01:42I can walk up that tree.
01:44And he did.
01:46William thought again.
01:49Can you stand on one hand, he asked.
01:53I can do better than that replied Mr. Impossible.
01:57I can stand on no hands.
01:59And he did.
02:01That's impossible cried William.
02:04True replied Mr. Impossible.
02:07Then William remembered that he was on his way to school.
02:11Why don't you come with me, he asked.
02:14But I've never been to a school before Mr. Impossible said.
02:19Then it's time you did replied William.
02:22Come on.
02:24William and Mr. Impossible sat at the back of William's classroom with all the other
02:29children.
02:30The teacher came in, but didn't notice that there was somebody extra in his class that
02:35morning.
02:37Good morning children he said.
02:40I have a very difficult sum for you to do today.
02:44It will take you most of the morning to work out the answer.
02:48And he wrote the sum on the blackboard.
02:51It really was the most difficult sum William had ever seen in his whole life.
02:56Full of multiplications and divisions and additions and other things William didn't
03:01enjoy.
03:02The teacher was right.
03:05It would indeed take most of the morning to work out the answer.
03:09If not most of the afternoon as well.
03:12Mr. Impossible whispered in William's ear.
03:16William put up his hand.
03:18Yes William said the teacher.
03:21Is there something about the sum you don't understand?
03:25Please sir said William.
03:27Is the answer 23.
03:30The teacher was very absolutely totally completely amazed.
03:34How did you work out the sum so quickly he gasped.
03:39It's impossible.
03:41Nothing is impossible said Mr. Impossible from the back of the class and stood up.
03:46Well I never did exclaimed the teacher.
03:50After that Mr. Impossible spent all day at the school.
03:54He showed the teacher how he could read a book upside down.
03:58That's impossible said the children who were watching.
04:03Absolutely replied Mr. Impossible.
04:06Then William asked Mr. Impossible if he would like to play in the school football match.
04:11Oh yes please replied Mr. Impossible.
04:15I've never played football before.
04:18And do you know what he did?
04:21He kicked the football so high into the air that when it came down it had snow on it.
04:26What an impossible thing to do.
04:29Then it was time to go home.
04:32Mr. Impossible said goodbye to all the people at the school and then said goodbye to William.
04:38Goodbye Mr. Impossible said William.
04:42Goodbye William said Mr. Impossible and just disappeared.
04:47William rubbed his eyes and went home.
04:50William's mother and father were waiting for him.
04:53Hello William they said.
04:56Did you have a good day at school?
04:59Yes replied William.
05:01And I met somebody who can do anything in the world.
05:05Really William they both laughed.
05:08You're impossible.
05:10William smiled and went inside.
05:13And, a hundred miles away, a small figure was listening to what William's mother and
05:18father were saying.
05:20And he grinned an impossible grin, and then he went to sleep.
05:25Standing on his head.
05:27And we all know that's
05:29impossible.
05:31The end.
