Kat met her partner Lazy when they were both 13 years old when they were childhood sweethearts. But the couple lost contact after Lazy moved away. Three years ago Lazy found Kat through her Facebook and told her that he was now in prison. Kat explained to Love Don't Judge, "I am engaged to a prisoner who is doing life plus 35 years". They rekindled their love through phone calls, letters, emails and when Kat can visit him. She shares her story on TikTok, speaking about how they make it work. However, some of the feedback has been negative. Kat has been criticised for letting Lazy become her daughter's stepfather. One commenter said, "Why are you taking that girl to a prison to see a man that's not her father...you whack!" Other ones said, "You seriously need to wake up, this guy is a loser" and, "Time to move on babes, you deserve better." In the video she confronted those who condemned her choices, "I just want to say something to the haters, at the end of the day it's not something for you to understand. I'm not promoting unhealthy relationships, I'm just promoting my relationship." Adding, "All relationships have ups and downs, all relationships are different. I'm just here to share my story." Kat also has dedicated supporters, who watch her TikTok lives every day. Her supporters commented, "You guys look so good together, can't wait for him to come home, period" and "You guys will be together forever". Haidee, Kat's mother also had reservations about the relationship, she said, "I don't like him, I don't agree with the relationship." In the episode Kat sits down with her mother to discuss why Kat feels Lazy is the man for her.

00:00I am engaged to a prisoner who is doing life plus 35 and a half years.
00:04I would choose my prison boyfriend over my mother's opinion, my friends, and my family.
00:10You seriously need to wake up, this guy's a loser.
00:13The main concern my mother has about Lazy is his tattoos and that he's in jail for murder.
00:20He had to get out.
00:22I ain't no like it, I ain't no agree.
00:24Whether she approves or not, I'm still going to be with him.
00:27I met Lazy when I was 13 years old.
00:30When we went to middle school together, we got back in touch through Facebook.
00:35He was looking for me for 11 years.
00:37I googled his case and I saw he was doing life and my heart broke.
00:42I feel like he thought we became an official couple the first day we started talking.
00:47He called me his girlfriend and I was like, you never asked me.
00:52And then he finally asked me on 3-16-21 and we've been together since.
00:57Lazy's sentence currently is life without parole plus 35 and a half years.
01:02So if he's granted an appeal, he will be able to come home in 8 months.
01:07And I'm on my TikTok, hanging out with my TikTok family.
01:10I love them.
01:11Thank you queen, I appreciate it.
01:13I love you guys so much.
01:15But I do get a lot of hate and those trolls, you guys be trolling too much.
01:21You got too much time on your hands.
01:23Talk to me nice.
01:25What's really insane is that people want to come from my motherhood, which I try not
01:31to let it affect me, but it does because I know I'm a really great mother.
01:35Lazy has become Bella's stepdad due to their bond and their relationship.
01:39And I'm really happy that they get along.
01:41That was something I was really anxious and nervous about because I've never introduced
01:45my daughter to another man, especially somebody in prison.
01:48He's always looking out for her so he doesn't miss a birthday or Christmas or anything.
01:53She knows the type of crime that he committed.
01:55I would like her to know that there are consequences to your actions.
01:59I think it's very important for her to see the reality of real life.
02:02So this is from a troll.
02:05It says, why are you taking that girl to a prison to see a man that's not her father?
02:09You whack.
02:10You seriously need to wake up.
02:11This guy's a loser who's going to hire a tattoo face hood rats.
02:15Time to move on babes.
02:16I'm sorry, but you deserve better.
02:18Well, how do you know what I deserve?
02:20You know what I'm saying?
02:21He treats me very well.
02:22I just want to say something to the haters.
02:24At the end of the day, it's not for you to understand that I'm not promoting unhealthy
02:29relationships.
02:30I feel like I'm just promoting my relationship.
02:32All relationships have up and downs.
02:34All relationships are different.
02:35I'm just here to share my story.
02:38So now we're going to go through the positive comments.
02:41You guys look so good together.
02:42Can't wait for him to come home, period.
02:44You guys will be together forever.
02:46This is good.
02:48Thank you guys for your love and support.
02:52We have a prison phone call today with Lazy, and I'm super excited.
02:57So Lazy reassures me by making me feel good, making me feel confident, calling me, sending
03:04me letters, buying me gifts, spoiling me, because he knows my love language is gifts.
03:11My love, my heart, I've loved you from the start, and it will be that way till the end.
03:17Side by side, hand in hand, you're the baddest chick in the land.
03:20So I stay in touch with Lazy by email or phone call, or if we're going through a little
03:26tussle, I'll go visit him and pop up on him if he doesn't call me for a little while.
03:31We're going to get married when he comes home.
03:33That's the plan.
03:34So hopefully we become like a Cinderella story.
03:39Hello, this is a free call from an incarcerated individual at...
03:45Did you feel guilty starting a relationship with me in prison?
03:49Did I feel guilty?
03:50No, I did not, because just because I'm in prison doesn't mean I should not continue
03:55living my life.
03:56When I finally found her on Facebook and she reached out to me, it was definitely long
04:01past due.
04:01I'm really grateful that Lazy is in Bella's life.
04:05You know, he does a really good job.
04:07I actually love being Bella's stepfather because I don't have no biological kids of my own,
04:13and I always wanted some.
04:15I love her very much.
04:16In the doubts that your mom has about our relationship and me, my complete honest answer
04:23is I really do not care what's going on, because how she feels and how she is, she has nothing
04:33to do with our relationship.
04:34I would love to have a relationship with her and speak to her, and that's cool, but I
04:38don't care if she don't.
04:39Yes, okay.
04:40And that's just keeping it all the way 100.
04:42That's keeping it real.
04:43That's keeping it all the way 100.
04:45All the way left side.
04:46Bye, love you.
04:49I love you, I'll talk to you later, okay?
04:53All right, babe, bye.
04:56My mom's coming over today and she does not approve, and I'm really nervous.
05:02My family reacted very badly.
05:05My mother is not happy with it.
05:08I found out after she talking to him about six months when he was in jail already.
05:14I don't know exactly.
05:15Like I say, I never talking to her too much about lazy.
05:19And it really breaks my heart that I can't speak to her and I can't go to her about my
05:23relationship.
05:24I feel like she should give him an opportunity.
05:27I'm not a child, I'm an adult, and I deserve happiness like everybody else.
05:32I not say he's bad person, but he coming from prison.
05:35He had to show us he changing everything and he want to be good man for my granddaughter
05:43and for my daughter.
05:44Because the first signing, he had to get out.
05:47I think the main concern my mother has about lazy is his tattoos and that he's in jail
05:53for murder.
05:55It's going to be real difficult when she comes here and we're going to have a conversation.
05:58I hope she doesn't leave.
06:00I think she's probably going to just walk out.
06:03I just hope one day she'll approve of my relationship because whether she approves
06:07or not, I'm still going to be with him.
06:10Hi, mommy.
06:11Hi, my daughter.
06:12Hi.
06:13How are you?
06:14Good.
06:16I not like it.
06:17I not agree.
06:18So it's not really bothering me too much.
06:21It's not exactly what I wanted for people like that close to you and close to my granddaughter.
06:27Sorry, I know why you feel bad.
06:29You don't have to be sorry, mommy.
06:30It's okay.
06:31I understand where you're coming from.
06:33What do you not like about him?
06:34Well, it's because he's in prison.
06:36Okay.
06:36I not like it.
06:38When you in prison, because you do something wrong.
06:40I don't know why, but it's something wrong that you did because you know you not be there.
06:44So what kind of relationship would you want to see me in?
06:47With person, normal people.
06:49For me, normal is people who work, have a job, and take care of you, pay your bills.
06:55What kind of relationship you have with the people in prison?
06:58Talking by phone all the time.
07:00That's not really, for me, relationship.
07:04But you're a grown woman.
07:06I know you're going to do what you have to do the best for your daughter.
07:09He's my best friend, and I trust him.
07:11And he's really good with Balon.
07:13If I felt a little bit that something was off, I would leave it right away.
07:18I don't care in prison or outside of prison.
07:20So I feel like maybe when he gets out, you give him a chance.
07:24I can meet her and say, I not promise anything.
07:27I know.
07:27I'm sorry.
07:28I not promise anything.
07:30But you grown woman, if you happy, I'm happy too.
07:33Because my daughter, if anything happen to you, happen to me.
07:37Half the way when he out.
07:39Yeah.
07:39OK.
07:41We can meet.
07:44I love you.
07:46What I have to say for the people who judge us is I really don't care at all.
07:49It ain't got nothing to do with me over here.
07:51Lazy impacted my life for the better.
07:54He showed me and taught me what unconditional love is.
07:57And he's shaped me into a better woman.
