00:00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most bingeable anime
00:00:18of all time.
00:00:24Number 100, Shangri-La Frontier
00:00:26Whether you're looking for a quick laugh, a cool fight scene, or another fully realized
00:00:31fantasy world, you can't go wrong with Shangri-La.
00:00:38The story is pretty simple.
00:00:40Gai buys a game, Gai plays the game, Gai meets a cast of quirky characters, and sets off
00:00:46to fight big boss monsters.
00:00:48But soon enough, those familiar trappings become Shangri-La Frontier's claim to fame.
00:01:00The clever comedy and refreshingly low-stakes plotlines make for remarkably easy viewing,
00:01:06especially over a long weekend.
00:01:08Before you know it, you'll have marathoned through the whole thing, and be left craving
00:01:13Number 99, Buddy Daddies
00:01:26This spy comedy has two assassins, one little girl, and a boatload of reasons to keep watching.
00:01:36Most of them involve the aforementioned assassins and their adopted daughter.
00:01:41As you can imagine, pulling off any kind of undercover operation becomes a lot harder
00:01:45when you're also on babysitting duty.
00:01:48Not that anyone's complaining, Miri will steal your heart from the very first scene.
00:01:57By prioritising comedy and heart over raw thrills, Buddy Daddies delivers a uniquely
00:02:03satisfying 12-episode arc.
00:02:06Oh yeah, it's only a dozen episodes, the perfect length to finish in a few sittings.
00:02:11Or one, we don't judge.
00:02:18Number 98, Fooly Cooly
00:02:20Clocking in at just a mere six half-hour instalments, there's simply no excuse to avoid Fooly
00:02:26Cooly.
00:02:27It's the kind of propulsive, meticulously paced series that's basically asking to
00:02:32become your next night's inn.
00:02:43To say nothing of its quality, the punk-inspired coming-of-age tale has more heart than it
00:02:48knows what to do with, and that's earned it an unshakable legacy amongst fans.
00:03:00Believe us when we say, the issue won't be finishing Fooly Cooly, it'll be trying
00:03:04to make its half-a-dozen episodes last.
00:03:07A quick word of advice though, stay away from those sequels, alright?
00:03:17Number 97, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
00:03:21On the outside, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya looks like an average high school drama.
00:03:26However, it comes with a few notable caveats.
00:03:34For one, Haruhi's friends include time travellers, espers and aliens.
00:03:39Secondly, they were all sent to watch Haruhi, who is unaware she's actually… well, let's
00:03:45not spoil it.
00:03:46If you think that's wild, it only gets weirder from there.
00:03:55The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya totally commits to its bonkers world-building with
00:04:00a never-ending cycle of genres.
00:04:02It's sci-fi, it's comedy, it's action, it's drama.
00:04:06Honestly, it's probably faster to say what Haruhi doesn't cover.
00:04:10You really should just see it for yourself.
00:04:17Number 96, The Saga of Tanya the Evil
00:04:20This saga is one to look out for.
00:04:23After dying in modern-day Japan, the lead is reincarnated in a magic-enhanced World
00:04:28War I.
00:04:29But, this second chance comes with an ultimatum from the so-called God.
00:04:38Tanya will continue to reincarnate as long as she passes to natural causes.
00:04:43Otherwise, it's down below for her soul.
00:04:46It's a surprisingly thoughtful spin on the Isekai formula that raises a lot of questions
00:04:52about faith, mortality, and the pursuit of one's happiness above others.
00:05:06Plus, it's got enough epic battles to keep action junkies hooked for days.
00:05:15No matter if she's good or bad, Tanya's story sure is entertaining.
00:05:26Number 95, Saint Seiya
00:05:28It doesn't get more classic than gods and monsters duking it out.
00:05:38Even if you've never heard of Saint Seiya, its influence on anime is hard to ignore.
00:05:43You've got flashy tournament arcs, you've got an intuitive power system based on Greek
00:05:48mythology, and, of course, you've got a metric ton of differently colored transformations.
00:05:54Saint Seiya is the epitome of a great action shounen, and its legacy proves as much.
00:06:08Over the years, it's gotten spinoffs, games, movies, and more merchandise than any one
00:06:13person could reasonably collect.
00:06:15That's all to say Saint Seiya can keep you enthralled for a very long time.
00:06:27Number 94, Gate
00:06:29All's fair in love, war, and anime.
00:06:32Funnily enough, Gate is all three.
00:06:35When a mysterious portal to a fantasy world opens up in Japan, Itami goes through to scout
00:06:41the enemy.
00:06:50What he finds, though, is a medieval land of elves and nobility that want peace, too.
00:06:56Well, mostly.
00:06:57Things get messy fast when bombs drop and guerrilla warfare breaks out, leaving Itami
00:07:03in the middle to try and find common ground.
00:07:12The focus on peace and politics helps ground Gate through its many larger-than-life fight
00:07:17scenes.
00:07:18Combine that with tight pacing, and you don't need to choose between character and action.
00:07:24Gate has both.
00:07:33Number 93, Kakegurui
00:07:36At this private academy, math, science, and history take a back seat to the most important
00:07:42lesson of all, gambling.
00:07:51The first and most important rule is never bet against the house, especially when it's
00:07:56named Kakegurui.
00:07:58The high-stakes schoolyard games turn every flip of a card or roll of a dice into a nail-biting
00:08:04thrill ride.
00:08:06Luckily for transfer student Yumeko Jabami, that's exactly the kind of thing she thrives
00:08:12on.
00:08:17Her adrenaline cravings keep the show fun, fast-paced, and tense as hell, particularly
00:08:22since any bad gamble could lose her everything.
00:08:26If you want our advice, when in doubt, go all in on Kakegurui.
00:08:39Number 92, Deadman Wonderland
00:08:42There's nothing wondrous about this theme park.
00:08:45Doubling as a prison, it puts Japan's most wanted through games of life or death for
00:08:51others' enjoyment.
00:08:52Though, to be fair, it does make quite the program.
00:09:02As sick and twisted as it is, there's something riveting about seeing the teenaged Gunter
00:09:08outsmart each and every challenge thrown his way.
00:09:11It doesn't come without a few casualties, though.
00:09:21All we'll say is that Deadman Wonderland is not a show for those who get queasy around
00:09:26blood.
00:09:27But if you can stomach its gruesome trials, Gunter's literal life sentence is a show
00:09:33to look out for.
00:09:41Number 91, Summertime Rendering
00:09:51Following two years away, Shinpei returns to his hometown to attend his sister's funeral.
00:09:57But when he sees strange marks on her throat, he begins to suspect her death may not be
00:10:02as innocent as it seems.
00:10:13He sets off to uncover the mystery, and then suddenly wakes up before the funeral all over
00:10:18again.
00:10:19The time-looping mystery is just asking for things to get convoluted.
00:10:24But somehow, Summertime Rendering pulls off every jaw-dropping reveal with tact and finesse.
00:10:33Occasionally, even a few tears do.
00:10:38It may not be the mystery you think, but Summertime Rendering is still a case well worth pursuing.
00:10:49Number 90, Danganronpa The Animation
00:10:57At the behest of an anthropomorphic bear with questionable origins, 16 teenagers are trapped
00:11:03in a high school with only one way out – kill a classmate and escape prosecution.
00:11:09It sounds gruesome, but that's Danganronpa for you.
00:11:12It's full of murder, mayhem, and a whole lot of finger-pointing.
00:11:20The rising body count and ensuing investigation keeps the story going along at a rapid pace,
00:11:26all the way to its bloody conclusion.
00:11:28The mortality rate at this school isn't very high, but everything else gets an A+.
00:11:45Number 89, World Trigger
00:11:50What is action, aliens, adventure, and more?
00:11:54The answer is World Trigger, a show that belongs on your watchlist ASAP.
00:11:59It starts out simple enough, with a young alien boy named Yuma trying to blend into
00:12:04normal human society.
00:12:06But a few years of intergalactic invasions have soured public opinion on his kind, leaving
00:12:11Yuma with more than warfare to worry about.
00:12:18That's the heart of World Trigger, but the action is what really put it on the map.
00:12:25The inclusion of alien technology turns every fight into an explosive smackdown for the
00:12:30ages.
00:12:31World Trigger is the kind of show that's so addictive, it makes a hundred episodes
00:12:35feel like ten.
00:12:40Number 88, Food Wars – Shokugeki no Soma
00:12:44The instructions here are pretty simple.
00:12:46Add a dash of fan service, a sprinkle of humor, and a heaping portion of delicious-looking
00:12:52anime food, and you have an irresistible recipe on your hands.
00:12:58There's really no way to properly sum up how scrumptious Food Wars is on a regular
00:13:06basis.
00:13:07It's part battle anime, part loving parody, and part cooking show all wrapped into one.
00:13:13What's not to like?
00:13:18You'll come for the tournament arcs and stay for the delectable dishes.
00:13:22At least as long as your growling stomach can take it.
00:13:25Trust us, you never want to watch Food Wars when you're hungry.
00:13:31Number 87, Free!
00:13:34Come on in, the water's just right for you to catch up on free.
00:13:38It's the spitting example of a good sports anime, complete with intricate strategies
00:13:43and gorgeous animation.
00:13:45There's a lot of eye candy too, if that's your kind of thing.
00:13:57But despite the backstrokes and bulging muscles, everything is second to the characters and
00:14:02their interpersonal dynamics.
00:14:11At a certain point, you won't care whether the Iwatobi swim team wins, you'll only
00:14:15care if Haruka, Makoto, Rei, Rin and Nagisa do.
00:14:20So if you haven't started Free yet, the only question is, what are you waiting for?
00:14:31Number 86, Tomodachi Game.
00:14:34Friendship, blood debts, inventive fights for survival.
00:14:38This anime has it all, and it isn't shy about it either.
00:14:47As you can probably guess from its name, Tomodachi Game thrives on its ability to take average
00:14:52schoolyard activities and put a bloody new twist on them, usually with fatal results.
00:14:58Each one is more vicious, cruel and clever than the last.
00:15:10But that's also why Tomodachi Game is hard to look away from.
00:15:14Whether it's the red-stained contests, the exhilarating riddles or sheer morbid curiosity,
00:15:20Tomodachi Game will keep you holding your breath until the credits roll on the last
00:15:25episode.
00:15:31Number 85, The Apothecary Diaries.
00:15:35This one is a sight to behold, somewhat literally.
00:15:38The Apothecary Diaries characterises its world with gorgeous music, stunning artwork and
00:15:44impeccable attention to detail.
00:15:46Best of all, it extends the same nuances to its main character, Mao Mao.
00:15:57She's witty, resourceful and abrasive in all the right ways.
00:16:01Watching her navigate her new life in a palace is interesting enough on its own, but the
00:16:06story really kicks into gear when she catches the eye of the mysterious Junshi.
00:16:18While The Apothecary Diaries is certainly an acquired taste, Mao Mao ensures this medicine
00:16:24goes down easy.
00:16:30Number 84, Sengoku Bazura.
00:16:33It's no surprise that an anime based on a legendary hack-and-slash gaming franchise
00:16:38has a lot of, well, hacking and slashing.
00:16:47Chronicling two hot-headed warriors as they try to reclaim Japan from a tyrant, Sengoku
00:16:53Bazura stays as refreshingly simple as it can.
00:16:57In fact, it doesn't even try to reinvent the wheel.
00:17:02Instead, it doubles down on exactly what you want from an action anime.
00:17:10White-knuckled brawls, flaming rivalries and some insanely cool finishing blows.
00:17:15You know you're in for a good time when the final episode ends and you're still
00:17:19left wanting more.
00:17:29Number 83, Record of Ragnarok.
00:17:32This might be the only anime in all of history where you get to see Jack the Ripper face
00:17:37off against Hercules.
00:17:38Yes, that Hercules.
00:17:43For context, Record of Ragnarok follows a tournament between gods and mortals to decide
00:17:54the fate of humanity, but really, the story is just an excuse to see a bunch of historical
00:17:59figures duke it out with some notable deities.
00:18:09The fights are grand and usually don't fit in a single episode, making Record of
00:18:14Ragnarok feel tailor-made for binging.
00:18:17As if to prove it, Netflix drops episodes in bulk too.
00:18:21Clearly, there's only one way to watch Record of Ragnarok.
00:18:29Number 82, Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch from Mercury.
00:18:33If you're looking for an anime guaranteed to entertain, it's hard to resist Gundam
00:18:37doing what Gundam does best.
00:18:40That's not to say The Witch from Mercury played it safe though.
00:18:50On the contrary, it was the first mainline series in seven years, the first to feature
00:18:55a female protagonist, and the first to include undeniably LGBTQ plus themes too.
00:19:07The risks paid off with a captivating narrative about political corruption and personal values.
00:19:13And of course, it wouldn't be Gundam without the classic mecha carnage that no other franchise
00:19:18does better.
00:19:19Suletta's story won't be forgotten anytime soon, that's for sure.
00:19:30Number 81, Akiba Made War After starting a new job, 17-year-old Nagomi
00:19:36soon finds herself embroiled in the cutthroat underground world of maid cafes.
00:19:42Yeah, crazy doesn't even begin to cover it.
00:19:49Steadfastly going against all preconceived notions, Akiba Made War takes inspiration
00:19:55from all kinds of categories.
00:19:57Sometimes it's a ditzy slice of life, sometimes it's a splatterfest action film, and sometimes
00:20:04there's a panda, because why not?
00:20:10Akiba Made War prides itself on being over the top, and if you accept the lunacy, you'll
00:20:15be treated to an anime like none other.
00:20:18Believe us, once you see a maid dive into a shootout, you can never go back.
00:20:30Number 80, Beyblade Franchise Is it too soon to call this a classic?
00:20:35We'll do it anyway.
00:20:41Beyblade is a classic.
00:20:43Instead of settling in as a glorified toy commercial, the original Beyblade anime let
00:20:48it rip with some captivating story arcs and surprisingly dark character moments.
00:20:53Additionally, the constant updates to the Beyblade toyline kept things fresh across
00:20:59several seasons and storylines.
00:21:07By now, there's an arc for just about anything you could ever want out of Beyblade.
00:21:12The franchise has been spinning for over 20 years now, and with how fast it's going,
00:21:17it's never too late to catch up.
00:21:32Number 79, Classroom of the Elite At this prestigious academy, grades decide
00:21:38just about everything, including your status in life, and also how much your classmates
00:21:44are going to be plotting your downfall.
00:21:46To put it lightly, Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing School is a war zone.
00:21:54Arguments are frequent, malicious, and in Ayano Kouji's case, downright cathartic.
00:22:00Beyond that, the high school setting lets Classroom of the Elite indulge in some soapy
00:22:05hijinks without losing sight of its tense central narrative.
00:22:14While the machinations and double-crosses can get a bit messy, that's precisely why
00:22:18Classroom of the Elite is built for bulk viewing.
00:22:22A school term will never go by so fast.
00:22:30Number 78, One Piece A thousand episodes and counting may not
00:22:35seem like the easiest binge in the sea, but once you set sail with Luffy and the Straw
00:22:40Hats, you won't be able to stop.
00:22:55Full of memorable characters, iconic fight scenes, and top-tier world-building, each
00:23:00individual arc of One Piece is like a feature-length movie.
00:23:04Dropping in the middle isn't just a disservice, it's pretty much impossible.
00:23:15To sweeten the deal, One Piece is the rare show without any noticeable dips in quality.
00:23:20If anything, it only gets better.
00:23:22As long as you take it one arc at a time, this thousand-episode voyage will go by in
00:23:28the blink of an eye.
00:23:35Number 77, Dragon Quest – The Adventure of Dai
00:23:38If you're in the mood for a cosy adventure anime, it doesn't get any better than this.
00:23:43All it takes is one look at the gorgeously animated fight scenes to realise that Dragon
00:23:48Quest – The Adventure of Dai is the real deal.
00:23:56Paired with an admirably straightforward tale about good versus evil, the show manages to
00:24:01feel both nostalgic and modern at the same time.
00:24:05Although that shouldn't be too surprising, considering it's based on a beloved manga
00:24:09of the 80s.
00:24:17Despite being painfully overlooked during its initial run, people are going to be telling
00:24:22legends about Dai and his Dragon Quest for years to come.
00:24:26Both in-universe and out.
00:24:38Number 76, Hellsing Ultimate
00:24:41Did someone call for hyper-violent gun-slinging vampires?
00:24:45Good, because one way or another, Alucard's gonna show up.
00:24:56As the Hellsing organisation's ace in the hole, the former Count now spends his time
00:25:01blasting away everything else that goes bump in the night.
00:25:05While the violence is certainly crowd-pleasing at times, there are elements here that are
00:25:09as dark as you can get.
00:25:25Between Ceres' tormented history, the gruesome demise of numerous innocents, as well as the
00:25:31abundance of Nazi vampires, there's no stone this anime won't touch in order to
00:25:36turn up the fear factor.
00:25:45Ever since a middle school student passed away, her class has been subjected to some
00:25:50rather peculiar incidents, even gaining a reputation for being cursed.
00:25:54Naturally, new transfer student Koichi transfers into said class, finding himself drawn to
00:26:01the enigmatic, eye-patch-wearing Mei Misaki.
00:26:11And then, the killing starts.
00:26:13Another's death scenes are so graphic and abundant, that it could be dismissed as nothing
00:26:18more than a gore-fest.
00:26:19But, that's not completely fair.
00:26:22Its core mystery is sturdy enough that it will keep you roped in.
00:26:26All the while, it conjures up more and more creative ways to have these unlucky souls
00:26:31meet an early grave.
00:26:34Don't forget your umbrella.
00:26:41If you haven't already, you should absolutely go out of your way to watch this beautiful
00:26:54adaptation of one of Urasawa's best works.
00:27:04As a gritty reimagining of Astro Boy, the series focuses on various murders involving
00:27:10both humans and robots.
00:27:16The anime isn't only a wicked smart and engaging thriller, but also raises questions
00:27:22in regards to what qualifies as a life and how it coincides and contrasts with the law
00:27:27of robotics.
00:27:29You cannot go wrong with Tezuka and Urasawa, especially with a story this good and animated
00:27:36this well.
00:27:39For 17 years, Takaoka's uncle was in a coma, or so Takaoka thought.
00:27:51In reality, his uncle spent all that time developing powers in a magical world, and
00:27:56now he's finally back.
00:27:58And yes, he brought his magic with him.
00:28:08There's just something inherently comical about the super-powered uncle having to fumble
00:28:12through modern life, especially considering he left most of his manners in the other realm.
00:28:18Uncle From Another World doesn't rest on its laurels, though.
00:28:21Do you want a quirky fantasy adventure, maybe some uproarious family hijinks, or how about
00:28:27a simple, reliable laugh?
00:28:29Regardless of what you're looking for, Uncle From Another World has it all.
00:28:40What's the best way to survive a zombie apocalypse?
00:28:54Laugh your way through, of course.
00:28:56After Akira becomes bored at the mundanity of office life, he takes the rising of the
00:29:01dead as a chance to truly live.
00:29:04Using his trusty bucket list as a guide, Akira sets off through the zombified Japan to fulfill
00:29:10each and every one of his dreams.
00:29:13Even the superficial ones, like owning a flat-screen TV.
00:29:27Zone 100's fresh spin on the genre is smart, captivating, and always a good time.
00:29:33Who knows, you may even learn a thing or two about friendship along the way.
00:29:45Taking the student-tutor gig to the next level, Futaro's crusade to earn a bit of cash for
00:29:50his struggling family leads him into the unexpected position of serving as a mentor figure to
00:29:56the Nakano siblings, five gorgeous sisters who couldn't be more different.
00:30:10Only united in their abysmal academic abilities, and their growing affection for Futaro's
00:30:15personalised teaching methods.
00:30:22The fact that one of them is teased to be his future bride just adds to the shipping
00:30:26war potential.
00:30:27Pick a sister, and set sail.
00:30:38Who would have guessed that cosplay would serve as the catalyst for one of the most
00:30:42engrossing romances to ever come out of anime?
00:30:48That's not hyperbole.
00:30:52Seeing the sweet yet painfully shy Gojo grow closer to the ultra-nerdy yet popular Marin
00:30:57gives us hope for humanity.
00:31:05The way in which they tackle each costume creation, every photoshoot, not to mention
00:31:10their unavoidable romantic and sensual chemistry that only seems to spike with each episode.
00:31:16We can't get enough of it.
00:31:17And from how things went down in season one, they can't get enough of each other either.
00:31:29Spoiler alert, the protagonist dies in the first episode.
00:31:34Yusuke Urameshi is a high school tough guy killed in a car accident.
00:31:44But death isn't the end for Yusuke.
00:31:47Since he's revived as a spirit detective and charged with looking into supernatural
00:31:52incidents in the human world and afterlife.
00:31:55While that may sound like a mystery series on paper, in practice Yu Yu Hakusho is more
00:32:00of an action series.
00:32:10Yusuke and his allies are pitted against various powerful foes, both in pitched battles and
00:32:15high stakes tournaments.
00:32:17A forerunner of many modern shonen series, this is one of the gold standards of classic
00:32:23action anime and it still holds up brilliantly today.
00:32:37A treasure hunt for the lost gold of an ancient tribal people might sound like a spirited
00:32:42adventure and it is.
00:32:44Just as long as you account for the map being tattooed on the bodies of several convicted
00:32:49killers.
00:32:50The wilderness filled with giant animals and every corner hiding a new psycho eager to
00:32:55get down and bloody.
00:33:06Thankfully the one leading the charge is none other than Sugimoto, a former soldier whose
00:33:11desperation to snatch the gold for a just cause pushes him further and further into
00:33:16danger, willing to break anyone in his way.
00:33:25Yep, it's that kind of treasure hunt.
00:33:41There are popular manhwa and then there's solo levelling, arguably one of the most decorated
00:33:46and beloved power fantasies out there.
00:33:49Many were in doubt that the adaptation could be pulled off unless it was being done by
00:33:53the top echelons of the anime industry.
00:33:56Mercifully, what A-1 Pictures managed to pull off was just about as close to a perfect representation
00:34:02of the source material as we're ever likely to get.
00:34:16Going from the weakest hunter of all, to an absolute unit able to ascend to greater levels
00:34:22of strength with every victory, Juno's gradual rise to become the most powerful entity in
00:34:28existence already had us locked in and salivating for more.
00:34:33If they do justice to the following arc, the anime community might explode.
00:34:53High school, limbo, aspirations, regrets, weapons, young love, one wouldn't expect
00:34:59all these would go together, but in the hands of Angel Beats, it became one of those series
00:35:04that was able to balance seemingly everything.
00:35:07It made us laugh, it made us weep, it offered that comfy slice of life goodness so many
00:35:12fans crave, even the occasional bit of bullet hell.
00:35:16The result was, for many, a viewing experience that left us emotionally drained, destroyed,
00:35:23and yet all too happy for the experience.
00:35:26Oh god, here comes the waterworks again.
00:35:39This anime already has fans raving and ravenous.
00:35:47While a party of adventurers exploring a magical dungeon isn't the most original setup, Dungeon
00:35:52Meshi has a delicious twist on an old classic.
00:35:56When this group's healer is eaten by a dragon, they set out to save her and overcome their
00:36:01lack of supplies by eating the various monsters they encounter along the way.
00:36:16The mixture of genres including fantasy adventure, cooking, and comedy may seem as strange as
00:36:22the creatures the heroes prepare along their journey, but the results of this melting pot
00:36:28are positively scrumptious.
00:36:41As far as high-fantasy shounen shows go, Black Clover is far from being a black sheep.
00:36:53Master is a young man born without magic in a world where everyone can use it.
00:36:58However, thanks to an anti-magic grimoire that he acquires, his dreams of becoming the
00:37:03Wizard King may just come true.
00:37:19After joining the Black Bulls, a guild full of other misfits, Asta's adventurers see
00:37:25he and his fellow mages combat villainous forces that threaten their kingdom and the
00:37:30world.
00:37:31Black Clover has a strong central narrative as well as a sprawling and entertaining supporting
00:37:37cast.
00:37:38The fight scenes are pretty epic too.
00:37:40While its story isn't fully animated, give us a sequel, we're still lucky to have gotten
00:37:45this incredible series.
00:38:06Another case of don't judge a book by its cover, Ranking of Kings has a delightful storybook
00:38:12animation style, but it'll wring your heart out.
00:38:15This series follows Bougie, a young deaf and mute prince who suddenly inherits his
00:38:20father's kingdom.
00:38:22His frail body and difficulty communicating leads to a succession crisis, and Bougie must
00:38:28bring peace to a kingdom that has difficulty believing in him.
00:38:45Ranking of Kings has an emotional, well-told story, with characters whose motivations are
00:38:51all fleshed out in detail.
00:38:53Additionally, the colourful animation is silky smooth and translates to some incredibly rendered
00:38:59fight scenes.
00:39:00If you're not cheering for Bougie every step of the way, check your pulse because you may
00:39:04not have a heart.
00:39:22The original grimdark fantasy anime, Berserk follows the story of Guts, a lone swordsman
00:39:28in a world that makes ours look like Candyland.
00:39:31The anime covers his time as part of a mercenary band, and their triumphs and many tragedies.
00:39:38The music is fantastic, the action is stellar, and the animation holds up beautifully.
00:39:52While it barely scratches the surface of its source material, Berserk still encapsulates
00:39:59the heartbreak and gritty persistence at its heart.
00:40:03Trust us, if there's ever an adaptation of the full manga, living up to this one is
00:40:08going to be a tall order.
00:40:10But if it does, we could easily see it topping our list.
00:40:32After the heroes defeat the Demon King, then what?
00:40:35Elven mage Freiren outlives her old companions.
00:40:50After making new friends and beginning a new journey, Freiren looks back on her fleeting
00:40:55time with her old friends, while learning to appreciate the present.
00:41:00A beautiful and unique take on a fantasy adventure, Freiren tackles universal subject
00:41:06matter like regret, life and death.
00:41:09But it isn't all drama and melancholy, as the series also features plenty of comedy
00:41:14and a surprising amount of action.
00:41:16Much like the titular character, Freiren may have you re-examining your own life and learning
00:41:21to appreciate what you have while it lasts.
00:41:43Like all the great sports anime before it, Blue Lock tears up the tiff by making you
00:41:48care about the people kicking the ball more than whether they can score or not.
00:41:53But that character-focused storytelling might have a few too many flashbacks for some people's
00:41:58tastes.
00:41:59However, those spotlight moments are a lot less jarring when you aren't waiting week
00:42:03to week for the match to continue.
00:42:12If you sprint through Blue Lock in a few sittings, the character backstories feel like worthwhile
00:42:18addendums instead of pace-killing detours.
00:42:20Although, it really shouldn't come as a shock that a show about soccer incentivises
00:42:26going fast.
00:42:44When you power through a show en masse, it's a lot easier to see the subtle changes in
00:42:49its formula.
00:42:50Bastard starts out as a shamelessly suggestive fantasy series, and by the end, it's... well,
00:42:57it's still that.
00:42:58But as it goes on, the episodic elements fade away in favour of a genuinely awesome war
00:43:04against demon gods.
00:43:12Trust us, it's worth the investment.
00:43:14In fact, Bastard was literally designed that way.
00:43:18Distributed by Netflix, the adaptation dropped in chunks of over ten episodes apiece.
00:43:23Clearly, they knew exactly the type of show they had on their hands.
00:43:28In for a penny, in for a pound, right?
00:43:42Number 58, Initial D series
00:43:52In the shady world of underground street racing, putting the pedal to the metal is part of
00:43:57the job.
00:43:58Sometimes, though, Initial D takes its time.
00:44:00Certain races and tournaments stretch across multiple episodes, and given how entertaining
00:44:06they are, that's a good thing.
00:44:08But fair warning, it also makes the series an absolutely addictive watch.
00:44:17Since most episodes are just one leg of a much longer track, it's practically criminal
00:44:22to hit the brakes.
00:44:23No, Initial D is much better when you ride along with its high-speed races until the
00:44:29very end.
00:44:30Plus, with how many seasons, movies, and specials there are, Initial D can keep you enthralled
00:44:36for a long, long time.
00:44:51If you can't judge a book by its cover, you can't judge an anime by its first episode
00:44:55either.
00:44:56Or really, its first season.
00:44:59Look, when you have over 100 episodes under your belt, you're bound to have a few lumps
00:45:03of coal every now and then.
00:45:06Unfortunately, most of Kingdoms come early on, primarily because of its wonky animation.
00:45:14But take our word for it, the show gets much better.
00:45:17The sooner you race through its shaky start, the sooner you get to experience one of the
00:45:22coolest historical anime out there.
00:45:25With the power of binging, it won't even take that long.
00:45:39It's brawn versus bewitching in this genre mashup, and no matter which comes out on top,
00:45:44the audience wins.
00:45:51The gist of it is that Mash is a beefed-out mortal who snuck his way into a wizarding
00:45:57academy.
00:45:58But to everyone's surprise, he gets by just fine using his physique alone.
00:46:02Mash's tendency to punch through every situation will never stop being funny, especially since
00:46:08he usually doles out the pain with the same deadpan expression.
00:46:18And fair warning, once you start the show, you won't be able to stop.
00:46:23One joke turns into one episode turns into one more until, before you know it, you've
00:46:28lapped your way through the whole season.
00:46:42To set this one up, there's time travel, gang wars, and a whole lot of characters with
00:46:46a whole lot of conflicting motives.
00:46:49It gets complicated fast.
00:46:53But that's also why Tokyo Revengers makes for such a great binge watch.
00:46:58The intricate narrative and deep character arcs feel like they were written to be enjoyed
00:47:02in bulk.
00:47:13Not only is it easier to keep track of, but you also won't have to worry about those
00:47:17pesky things called cliffhangers.
00:47:20And boy, does Tokyo Revengers love cliffhangers.
00:47:23At this point, blazing through full seasons at a time might be the best way to watch Tokyo
00:47:28Revengers at all.
00:47:40Number 54, Chainsaw Man.
00:47:43Denji's a humble guy.
00:47:45Even after the chainsaw devil gives him a second life, he still just wants to get in
00:47:49a girl's pants.
00:47:51It sounds juvenile, but keep in mind, he has to look at Makima every day.
00:48:05Chainsaw Man also has racy humour, lovable characters, and some jaw-dropping devil slaying.
00:48:11Usually, the ultra-violent, stain-your-screen-red variety.
00:48:15But, like the lewd jokes, that's part of its charm.
00:48:32With just 12 blood-soaked episodes under its belt, Chainsaw Man is dangerously easy
00:48:38to saw through.
00:48:39A word of advice though, try and cherish it.
00:48:42Because once you're done, you'll be stuck waiting for the next season like the rest
00:48:46of us.
00:48:54Number 53, Bleach – Thousand Year Blood War.
00:48:58Released in nearly a decade off the air, Ichigo is back, and better than ever.
00:49:11Thanks to the series' extended hiatus, Thousand Year Blood War has the benefit of adapting
00:49:16a finished story.
00:49:17That means, for the very first time, Bleach is all killer, no filler.
00:49:22Each and every single episode is tightly scripted, action-packed, and most importantly, leaves
00:49:27you wanting more.
00:49:29Combine that with noticeably higher production values, and it really feels like the series
00:49:34has hit its stride again.
00:49:47If you haven't caught up with Bleach, now's the time to do it.
00:49:51Considering how addictive Thousand Year Blood War is, that shouldn't take you very long
00:49:55anyway.
00:50:04Number 52, Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
00:50:07Netflix had the right idea when they dropped this show all at once.
00:50:11Edgerunners just wasn't made for weekly viewing.
00:50:20While it's technically broken up into ten episodes, the fade to black feels more like
00:50:25a built-in potty break than anything else.
00:50:28In reality, Cyberpunk Edgerunners is an epic five-hour movie masquerading as a TV series.
00:50:35The way the story continuously builds upon itself practically forces you to watch the
00:50:39next, and the next, and the next.
00:50:48Whether you've played the game, never touched it, or haven't even heard of Cyberpunk, Edgerunners
00:50:54is sure to take your heart.
00:50:56And odds are, it won't give it back until the final episode is done.
00:51:06Number 51, Oshinoko.
00:51:08Watching one episode of Oshinoko is basically the same thing as watching the whole season.
00:51:14Let's just say that, within its first 20 minutes, the show is all but guaranteed to
00:51:19leave you a human puddle who can't put the remote down.
00:51:28The story exposes the hardships of the entertainment industry through the eyes of grief-stricken
00:51:33twins, Ruby and Aqua.
00:51:35But rather than indulging in hammy plot points, Oshinoko gives its characters their due time
00:51:41in the spotlight, both literally and figuratively.
00:51:50The emotional stakes become so high that, eventually, you don't just want to find out
00:51:55what happens anymore, you want to find out what happens to Ruby and Aqua specifically.
00:52:05Number 50, Rocker, Braves of the Six Flowers.
00:52:09A group of mismatched warriors coming together to stop a great evil is nothing new, especially
00:52:14in the world of animated high fantasy.
00:52:23How does Adelette and the gang succeed in subverting the genre?
00:52:26By making the whole thing a whodunit.
00:52:29On the eve of their fated clash with the demon god, the gathered heroes are shocked to discover
00:52:35that there are seven in total, meaning one is an imposter sent to destroy them from within.
00:52:45With suspicion falling on Adelette, it's up to him, and by extension, us, to narrow
00:52:50down the list of suspects.
00:52:52With a mystery as engrossing as this, saving the world can wait.
00:53:05Number 49, Hajime no Ippo.
00:53:09As always, room for a sports anime, and few are as enthralling as Ippo's journey to
00:53:13discover what it means to be truly strong.
00:53:23After discovering a raw talent for boxing, Ippo finds himself on the path of a true fighter,
00:53:28slowly shaping his body into a powerhouse that can take an unbelievable amount of punishment
00:53:34before returning it back with twice the force.
00:53:39With the series' attention to detail and obvious adoration for the sport, even boxing
00:53:47naysayers can get wholly invested in the preparation and subsequent bouts, which, by
00:53:53the way, are off the charts.
00:54:01Number 48, Gundam Build Fighters.
00:54:04So you've heard about this Gundam franchise, you want to dive in, but you have no idea
00:54:09where to start, and for some reason, you're just not feeling the universal sentry.
00:54:22You want something self-contained, perhaps a little less on the doom, gloom, and philosophy
00:54:27exploring war and its casualties.
00:54:30Then we humbly refer you right over to your nearest Gunpla match.
00:54:43Set in a world where players can virtually create and pilot their own mobile suits in
00:54:47a series of competitive games, Build Fighters captures that light-hearted, yet exhilarating
00:54:53sweet spot that you can't help but fall in love with, especially as Sei and Reiji head
00:54:58towards the finals.
00:55:08Number 47, Kenichi, The Mightiest Disciple.
00:55:12Bullied for most of his young life, Kenichi was about as pitiable as it gets, at least
00:55:17until he found himself encountering the beautiful and skilled martial arts apprentice, Miu.
00:55:29From that point on, fueled by his newfound affection for his crush and enthusiasm for
00:55:34martial arts, our boy dedicates himself to mastering the various styles of the Ryozan
00:55:40a heaping helping of grand shounen fights and slapstick along the way.
00:55:51If you're in the mood for training arcs, montages, and all things martial arts, as
00:55:56well as witnessing a lovable protagonist go from victim to giving hands like a boss, you
00:56:02can do a lot worse than checking out Kenichi.
00:56:09Number 46, Dororo, Demon Samurai and one tragic soul wandering the land in search of his stolen
00:56:17body, while also slicing apart anyone who gets in his way with his sword arms.
00:56:29After surviving a ritual wherein his own father sold his body to the minions of hell
00:56:34in exchange for dominion and prosperity, Hyakkimaru sets out to hunt down each of the monsters
00:56:40hiding across the kingdom, reclaiming what was stolen from him piece by piece.
00:56:55With the titular Dororo acting as his guide and companion, this is one to watch if you're
00:57:00in the mood for savage sword skirmishes and watching plenty of men and beasts getting
00:57:06decapitated along the way.
00:57:18This one is hard to explain to people without them thinking you're on drugs.
00:57:22We'll give it a go, though.
00:57:23The series follows Kaiman, a man with a lizard head and amnesia to boot, who searches for
00:57:29the sorcerer who transformed him into his current state.
00:57:33Oh yeah, and he's also got another head living inside the back of his throat.
00:57:42Dorohedoro features a unique dystopian fantasy world with rough but detailed animation and
00:57:49surprisingly endearing characters.
00:57:54With only a single season and some OVAs so far, Dorohedoro is a quick and strange watch.
00:58:07There's certainly nothing else like it.
00:58:09Number 44, Batuuum You might think you're hot shit when you're
00:58:14blowing up fools online, but just how far will that gamer know-how take you when you're
00:58:19forced to play it in real life, deaths included?
00:58:33After awakening on a tropical island filled with players, psychos, and other fearful participants
00:58:39forced to partake in a real-life version of a highly violent video game, Ryota has no
00:58:44choice but to get good at running for his life and tossing grenades in order to stay
00:58:50alive.
00:58:57Throw in a believable romance, plenty of explosions, and this battle royale is a fine reminder that
00:59:03keyboard warriors are in name only.
00:59:17Number 43, Madoka Magica Take a collection of charming young girls,
00:59:22throw in a dabble of magic and a cute mascot, mix together with the Urobucha's borderline
00:59:28sadistic storytelling sensibilities, and what do you get?
00:59:32A series that changed the magical girl genre forever.
00:59:43With its series of sinister twists juxtaposed by incredible action sequences, this beautiful-looking
00:59:50spiral into depression is well worth investing your time into.
01:00:00Watching innocents be shattered by the cruelties of real-world consequences has never been
01:00:04so entertaining.
01:00:19Number 42, Dragon Ball Super Hungry for more DB goodness, but you're
01:00:24a little tired of watching Z?
01:00:26Well, for the five of you that haven't watched this awesome sequel series, no, not GT, then
01:00:32now's the time to knuckle down and nosedive into the multiverse madness that is Super.
01:00:43It's got everything you love from the original, including one hell of a tournament arc, Goku
01:00:48surpassing his limits and attaining a form even greater than anyone can believe, and
01:00:53of course, Vegeta being Vegeta.
01:01:00Honestly, the tournament of power alone is worth the price of admission.
01:01:15Number 41, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Franchise
01:01:31We'd be remiss to not mention the now-legendary series that has come to define a whole generation
01:01:47of anime lovers.
01:01:48For those that haven't caught JoJo fever yet, you owe it to yourself to catch up on
01:01:53the generational battles of the Joestar lineage.
01:02:05From Jonathan's introductory clash with future vampire nemesis, Dio, all the way to
01:02:11gangstar God Giorno and prisoner waifu, Jolene, we guarantee you a transformative experience,
01:02:18one that will undoubtedly submerge you in the never-ending phenomenon that is a JoJo
01:02:23reference.
01:02:25Number 40, Drifters At first glance, a Japanese warrior being
01:02:40teleported to a war-torn fantasy world doesn't sound all that groundbreaking, but rest assured
01:02:46this realm is still well worth the vacation.
01:02:55Despite a familiar set-up, the show quickly substitutes genre convention for a tightly
01:03:00written narrative full of rousing action, light humour and flashy animation.
01:03:05The brisk pace ensures things never get dull, and it's a struggle just to take a breath
01:03:10in between the climactic set pieces.
01:03:13Plus, it doubles as a lesson on Japanese culture since the titular cast of Defenders are reimagined
01:03:19interpretations of actual historical figures.
01:03:23It's a bloody delight, but it's also made by the mad lad responsible for hellsing, so
01:03:28what do you expect?
01:03:30Number 39, My Hero Academia Midoriya may be normal compared to our world,
01:03:36but his lack of a super-powered ability makes him an anomaly in his.
01:03:40However, quirk or not, he is determined to become a hero, and thankfully, he's got
01:03:45some mighty mentors to help him along the way.
01:03:56The show's blend of breathtaking fight scenes and heart-warming school-life hijinks prove
01:04:01to be a downright super combination.
01:04:08Better yet, all that's on top of standout production values and an expansive cast of
01:04:13lovable characters.
01:04:15The bombastic action is as hype as it comes, whilst doubling down on its loving homage
01:04:20to all things superhero.
01:04:30Number 38, The Case Study of Vanitas In 19th century Paris, a young man with a
01:04:37magical grimoire tracks down vampires, but not to kill them.
01:04:42Instead, Vanitas and his sidekick Noi use the mystical book to cure bloodsuckers of
01:04:47their carnivorous urges.
01:04:50Despite the trimmings of horror, it sidesteps a self-serious tone with plenty of knowing
01:04:55humour and sensual interactions.
01:05:07Along the way, there's swoon-worthy romances, breezy action sequences, and even a good old-fashioned
01:05:13conspiracy thrown in just for good measure.
01:05:34After launching off the ramp during the crowded 2021 anime season, this light-hearted series
01:05:40landed with an impressive flip trick.
01:05:42It explored the dangerous and often comical world of underground skateboarding without
01:05:47losing sight of its well-defined central themes.
01:05:50To help balance out its dramatic duels, the show rolled on with a surprising attention
01:05:55to character development.
01:06:01From climactic showdowns, to eye-popping skate tricks, to Reiki and Lunga's adorable relationship,
01:06:07there was always a good reason to pick up the board again after the credits rolled.
01:06:17That time I got reincarnated as a slime.
01:06:20Yeah, the title here is kind of a sales pitch too.
01:06:32While it doesn't stray too far away from the isekai path, it still, somehow, morphed
01:06:37itself into something special.
01:06:39Rimuru successfully swallowed up both food and fan expectations with their lovable attitude.
01:06:45Fulfilling the promise of its name, the show's focus on Rimuru's charming quirks lends the
01:06:50series a much-needed emotional centre.
01:06:53Their jovial curiosity is then juxtaposed with some intense moments where they totally
01:06:59throw down the gauntlet, or in some cases, the Megiddo.
01:07:03It's a well-executed fantasy with enough added earnestness to make you wish you'd
01:07:07reincarnate into a slime too.
01:07:14Who wouldn't want to run a nation full of monsters?
01:07:21While it takes place in a dystopian future ravaged by rust, this battle anime completely
01:07:26shakes the stuff off its seemingly familiar troves.
01:07:29In an attempt to save the world, Bisco and his comrade Milo traverse the desert with
01:07:35only a bow and arrow.
01:07:43They accept these projectiles spontaneously grow mushrooms upon impact, and might be the
01:07:48key to curing the worldwide plague.
01:07:50Yeah, it's admittedly a strange foundation, but the dubious world-building soon becomes
01:07:56its strongest attribute.
01:07:57The post-apocalyptic visuals and non-sentient threat give the show a distinctive narrative
01:08:02identity within its world-trodden framework.
01:08:11After some jaw-dropping late-game twists, the only complaint we have is that it went
01:08:16by way too fast.
01:08:21After assembling the clues, it would appear the real culprit of this show's success
01:08:25was its characters all along.
01:08:28Just not the one you'd expect.
01:08:32It's no mystery why there's an anime based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic stories,
01:08:39but focusing on villain William Moriarty would have left even Sherlock scratching his head.
01:08:44However, by flipping the crime scene, the engaging mind games broach new perspectives
01:08:49on justice and classism.
01:08:52As it draws you deeper into its clever mysteries, the show pulls its own sleight of hand by
01:08:57turning into a complex character study.
01:08:59One could say its surge in popularity was elementary.
01:09:20In principle, CG animation can be a tough sell, especially when the show's main cast
01:09:25is fluffy instead of flesh.
01:09:27But if given the chance, this series will take you by stampede.
01:09:31Its innovative 3D visuals often surpass its 2D counterparts, with beautiful mosaics that
01:09:37push the limits of what anime can look like.
01:09:39There's plenty of meat to chew on these bones too, from Legoshi's animalistic impulses
01:09:45to the brewing conflict between carnivores and herbivores.
01:09:56It's all seasoned to perfection with just enough political commentary to resonate far
01:10:00beyond its bestial implications.
01:10:03With all that, it's no wonder why this stands at the top of the anime food chain.
01:10:11This ember burned its mark on fans through hot storylines and even hotter action sequences.
01:10:17As everyone knows, the best way to douse human combustion is to fight fire with fire.
01:10:23Or at least that's what Shinran and his team of pyrokinetics think.
01:10:32It seems to be working out to the tune of an ambitious on-screen adaptation featuring
01:10:37some of the most stunning animation a weekly series has ever seen.
01:10:41Complemented by standout sound design, it's hard not to be awed by how much impact each
01:10:47and every blow has.
01:10:49If you're in the mood for something flashy, nothing burns brighter than these flames.
01:11:05Chaotic, unrealistic, and a bit excessive, but damn, this show is a great time.
01:11:15Even Rock agrees, and he was just a lowly salaryman.
01:11:21After being presumed dead, the former office worker decides to join this modern-day pirate
01:11:26crew as their professional coordinator.
01:11:29From there, it's gang wars, gunfights, and the best kind of criminal antics across a
01:11:35seedy underbelly of a setting.
01:11:37It's cool, it's quick, and best of all, it's easy viewing without ever becoming mindless.
01:11:43That might have something to do with Revy always stealing the show.
01:11:55At this super-powered high school, math, science, and murder are all part of the curriculum.
01:12:00Given the potential threat of a bunch of super-teens taking over the world, the government decides
01:12:06to send in a specialist, the so-called talentless Nana.
01:12:10She may be powerless, but she is oh-so-efficient at permanently expelling her classmates.
01:12:20While everyone else thinks they're in the middle of a mystery, the real tension comes
01:12:24from whether Nana can complete her mission before her extracurricular activities are
01:12:29exposed.
01:12:30It turns the boilerplate concept into a literal game of Among Us, with a never-ending spree
01:12:35of close calls.
01:12:45Alongside contracts, business transactions in this revisionist Japan are done in the
01:12:50arena.
01:12:51When the prestigious Kengan Annihilation Tournament rolls around, Tokita Oma's knack for busting
01:12:57heads earns him a spot on his sponsor's behalf.
01:13:10What follows is a near-exhausting stretch of epic fights full of stellar choreography,
01:13:15awesome techniques, and fist-bumping clashes of strength.
01:13:19Even more, the standout 3D animation elevates the already-hype martial arts flurries with
01:13:25fluid movements and dynamic camera angles.
01:13:34Since the story basically chronicles one long tournament arc, the twenty-something episodes
01:13:39fly by faster than one of Oma's punches.
01:13:46Much like Simon and Kamina, this show just doesn't deserve to be underground.
01:13:55After the two lads stumble upon an ancient mech, they take their rightful concerns about
01:13:59humanity's fate to the war-torn surface world.
01:14:03The sibling-like dynamic between Simon and Kamina grounds the show through some outstanding
01:14:08action sequences that are the epitome of the word epic.
01:14:12There's also a mecha-sized mystery afoot in the galaxy, but it's used as a framing
01:14:17device to tell a genuinely inspiring story about brotherhood and self-empowerment.
01:14:23What makes this show truly great is that it's about lovable characters who happen to pilot
01:14:27giant robots.
01:14:28Or the other way around.
01:14:38The historical backdrop of this dramatized retelling isn't just for effect.
01:14:43Instead, it fearlessly sails the choppy waters of what it really means to be a Viking.
01:14:49Even if parts aren't entirely accurate, the result is undeniably impactful.
01:14:59The Shakespearean plotting and intricate themes effortlessly coalesce into a story that, at
01:15:04its core, is a simple coming-of-age tale.
01:15:08Albeit one caked in blood, vengeance and animosity.
01:15:11However, the boosts of violence are earned through its commitment to deep characters
01:15:16and a fact-based setting.
01:15:18It's a cruel tale about the loss of innocence, but the unflinching realities make it a shipwreck
01:15:24you can't take your eyes off.
01:15:26Plus, Ash Lad might just be the greatest written character in anime, period.
01:15:42And Sushi's adventures with the Armed Detective Agency will leave you barking for more after
01:15:47just one viewing.
01:15:58To support its fleshed-out cast and unique premise, the series consistently trades out
01:16:02turns and styles to keep each episode fresh.
01:16:06It's a horror film one moment, a comedy the next, and then a cold case after that.
01:16:11Its experimental style means the episodic cases never grow stale, and instead allow
01:16:16a thorough examination of vastly different sides of the cast.
01:16:20And we aren't just talking about the Were-Tiger transformations.
01:16:28While you can never be totally sure what you're going to get from it, this supernatural procedural
01:16:32is still well worth adopting.
01:16:44Turns out murder is indeed like potato chips, you just can't stop at one.
01:16:49From the inaugural scribble in the Death Note, there's no looking away from this addictively
01:16:53entertaining thrill ride.
01:16:55The captivating back-and-forth between the wannabe omnipotent Light and the prodigal
01:17:00Detective L is less a game of cat-and-mouse than it is a war of two damaged geniuses.
01:17:12Instead of empty action sequences, Death Notes abets expectations at every page through
01:17:17riveting rounds of mental chess that produce some genuinely heart-stopping plot twists.
01:17:27Adolescence is tough enough even without getting stranded across the cosmos.
01:17:41Luckily, these kids are resourceful enough to set a course back.
01:17:45But managing resources, making supply runs on hostile planets, and keeping hormones in
01:17:50check is a tough job for nine teenagers.
01:17:54While their slowly formed camaraderie is worth the price of admission alone, it's the ambitious
01:17:58mystery at its heart that really sends the show into the stratosphere of greatness.
01:18:04Unfortunately, that's really all that can be said without rocketing into an asteroid
01:18:08field of spoilers.
01:18:10Let's take our word for it that this seemingly straightforward road trip shot for the stars
01:18:15in more ways than one.
01:18:28After nearly 30 years on the air, you'd think these legendary mechs would cast a shadow
01:18:32so big no one could even step out of it.
01:18:35And yet somehow, the 00 series proved its Gundams weren't running on fumes just yet.
01:18:47The thematically rich story has a propulsive sense of narrative momentum that practically
01:18:52yanks its viewers along with it.
01:18:54But this is Gundam, and naturally it features some classic mecha carnage.
01:19:08Plus the advent of modern technology helped it deliver some of the most thrilling action
01:19:13the series has ever seen.
01:19:16With shiny production values and plenty of fuel left in the tank, 00 didn't just reach
01:19:21Gundam's high bar.
01:19:23It may well have surpassed it.
01:19:28If you're looking for more of a long-term relationship, it's hard to go wrong with
01:19:32a show that's been shattering ribs and expectations for over 20 years.
01:19:49Across three series and a hundred episodes, Bucky's proven his worth in the delightfully
01:19:55lethal game of No Rules hand-to-hand combat.
01:19:58The iconic action sequences haven't let up yet, and each new iteration of the show
01:20:03continues to build upon the surprisingly deep ongoing storyline.
01:20:08Bucky just keeps getting stronger, and there's no sign of him stepping out of the ring any
01:20:12time soon.
01:20:24Armed with the power to force obedience upon anyone, Lelouch V Britannia wages a strategic
01:20:29struggle against his corrupt royal lineage.
01:20:39But what happens on the battlefield isn't nearly as engaging as the ideological decisions
01:20:43that war demands.
01:20:45This show routinely reminds the audience that while Lelouch is the main character, he's
01:20:50no hero.
01:20:51Instead, his single-minded determination leads to some downright maddening cliffhangers guaranteed
01:21:04to leave you hitting play next.
01:21:06If you start this show, you might as well grab a snack and get comfortable too, since
01:21:11your eyes will be glued to the screen as if Kios itself commanded it.
01:21:18Channeling the madness of Danganronpa with the trappings of a Tarantino flick, Akudama
01:21:23Drive is the best kind of crazy.
01:21:33Revolving around highly-skilled criminals, all of whom find themselves roped into taking
01:21:37on a dangerous job in exchange for some serious money, as well as their own lives, naturally
01:21:51everything goes wrong, with betrayal, death, and wacky sci-fi twists spilling in every
01:21:56step of the way.
01:21:57Even if you regard it as style over substance, there's a lot of fun to be had here with
01:22:01Swindler and the gang.
01:22:19Its popularity by this point is only matched by how bingeable it is.
01:22:34Following the slaughter of his family and his sister's conversion to demon, Tanjiro
01:22:39joins the Demon Slayer Corps in the hope of seeking a cure.
01:22:43The breathtaking art style and epic scale of its battles have cemented it as a modern
01:22:48great, with its shonen storytelling allowing anybody to easily spiral down the rabbit hole.
01:23:00Between its arcs and record-breaking movie, it's clear Demon Slayer Fever is going to
01:23:05be sticking around for the long haul.
01:23:17Falling into a mid-life crisis, Moriko decides to quit her successful job and throw all her
01:23:33time into an MMORPG.
01:23:35She soon meets another player and begins to grow attached, not realising she may know
01:23:39them in real life.
01:23:46Heartwarming and adorable in every capacity, MMO Junkie tells a very relatable story about
01:23:52pursuing your passion, even against societal pressure, and the good and bad that come with
01:23:57it, and how anybody can find a little love along the way.
01:24:12Exquisitely written doesn't even come close.
01:24:24Part mystery-thriller, part meditation on Japanese culture as a whole, the series focuses
01:24:29on a middle-aged cab driver who gets tangled up in the aftermath of a murder, with many
01:24:34of the key players just happening to end up in the backseat of his cab.
01:24:41Oh yeah, and he's also a walrus.
01:24:48The anthropomorphic edge might get some getting used to, but the snappiness and wit of its
01:24:52dialogue will have you entrenched before you know it.
01:25:08If binging the show is a sin, we don't want to be right.
01:25:20After Princess Elizabeth's kingdom is taken over, she seeks out the might of the Seven
01:25:24Deadly Sins, legendary warriors who were once framed, to help her take back her homeland
01:25:30from the traitorous Holy Knights.
01:25:32Not shying away from its sillier elements, there's plenty of fun to be had here, between
01:25:37the sins' individual quirks, personal journeys, and some great magical fights.
01:25:42Plus, you gotta watch it for Escanor alone.
01:25:56If you need a place to start your descent into the Fateverse, we'd recommend this as
01:26:00a jumping-off point.
01:26:08It tells the tale of the Fourth Holy Grail War, a tournament where aspiring mages summon
01:26:13historical warriors to compete in a series of death matches to have their wish granted.
01:26:28The word convoluted might get thrown around a fair bit regarding this prequel, but the
01:26:32exceptional animation, wide variety of mythical and ancient characters, and use of magic still
01:26:38paint it as one of the must-watch fantasies.
01:26:58Quirky, crazy, and outright hilarious, Psyche-K's day-to-day antics are a trainwreck that we
01:27:06can't stop watching.
01:27:18Blessed with psychic powers that he deems a curse, Psyche struggles to lead a normal
01:27:23life but repeatedly runs into problems, mostly due to the rest of the normal yet equally
01:27:29outrageous cast.
01:27:39The fourth-wall breaking, fast pace of the jokes, and Psyche's very own deadpan style
01:27:44of narration ensures that you'll be laughing your antennae off before long.
01:27:51Insanity, tears, chaos, mesh it all together and you've got the crown jewel in the Netflix
01:28:01anime catalogue.
01:28:06When demons start to spill out into human society, former wimp Akira unwittingly fuses
01:28:12with one, and in doing so attempts to save those he loves while struggling with his own
01:28:17dark desires.
01:28:23The animation feels like something close to a psychedelic trip, with its vibrant colours,
01:28:28bizarre scenery, and crazy runs – none of which takes away from just how heart-wrenching
01:28:33and despair-inducing this series can be at the best of times.
01:28:37And you'll still be happy for the ride.
01:28:44One Punch Man, a premise so simple it's almost beautiful.
01:28:48Deconstructing and taking jabs at the superhero trope, the story follows the exploits of the
01:28:53titular One Punch Man, Saitama, a man so strong that everything he punches is wiped out in
01:28:59only one hit.
01:29:16And that's basically it.
01:29:18Despite being surrounded by all kinds of S-tier heroes, villains, and everything in between,
01:29:23nothing comes close to the strength of Saitama's fists.
01:29:34This not only makes for incredible action, but some stellar comedy – one that will
01:29:38have you drawn in all the way to that out-of-this-world final boss fight.
01:29:4611.
01:29:51Kuroko's Basketball
01:29:52Trading in vicious battles for hype basketball matches, this is the sports anime that even
01:29:58the casuals will adore.
01:30:13Eager to help his new team become the best in the country, basketball prodigy Kuroko
01:30:17lends his skill to Seiren, whilst competing against his former teammates for the championship.
01:30:31While not afraid to dip into some anime logic from time to time, for the most part this
01:30:35is a riveting example of how sports, character growth, and anime are a match made in heaven.
01:30:4610.
01:30:51Kill la Kill
01:30:52As erotic as it is action-packed, Kill la Kill is quintessential studio trigger, firing
01:30:57on all cylinders with their outlandish sense of humor and ridiculously awesome fights.
01:31:13Following the tale of Ryoko and her quest to find vengeance for her father, Kill la
01:31:17Kill has sentient costumes, fan service, slice of life, and so, so much more.
01:31:30Managing to toe the line between some serious topics and a light-hearted presentation, the
01:31:35series is compelling no matter which aspect of its crazy spectrum it's tackling.
01:31:39This is the anime that gave us Satsuki.
01:31:41It deserves your allegiance.
01:31:549.
01:31:57Erased
01:31:58Time travel and murder mysteries are apparently made for each other, especially when they're
01:32:02layered together this magnificently.
01:32:18After being inexplicably transported back in time to when he was an elementary schooler,
01:32:23Satoru tasks himself with preventing the kidnapping and killings of his classmates, as well as
01:32:29uncovering the madman behind it.
01:32:42Unwavering in its exploration of both human failings and human compassion, Erased will
01:32:47thrill you from the beginning to end.
01:32:50Fair warning, have someone close by to hug.
01:32:53This shit gets way too real, way too quickly.
01:33:028.
01:33:06Mashoku Tensei – Jobless Reincarnation
01:33:09The isekai that started it all, and one in dire need of your attention.
01:33:29Starting off life as a depressed, wasteful layabout, Rudeus is given a literal second
01:33:34chance at life in a world where magic and monsters are commonplace.
01:33:39While the fantastical elements of the series are enjoyable on every level, its true heart
01:33:43lies in Rudeus' redemption, and how he slowly learns to become a better person whilst accepting
01:33:48his flaws.
01:34:02How something can be so heartwarming, savage, sleazy, and eloquent at the same time is beyond
01:34:07us.
01:34:08I'm sure the lads accomplished it all the same.
01:34:197.
01:34:26Jujutsu Kaisen
01:34:27Swiftly establishing itself as this generation's must-watch shounen, this series takes all
01:34:32the tropes you love, adds on an extra layer of darkness, and comes out swinging.
01:34:50After being bonded to a demonic entity, hard-headed yet lovable Itadori becomes a jujutsu sorcerer,
01:34:56with the intention of wiping out curses and ensuring the beast inside him remains sealed.
01:35:10What would be narrative pitfalls for lesser series excels here, from its magic system,
01:35:15its resonant OP character, and its own particular brand of tragedy.
01:35:19Watch this space, because this is gonna get even better.
01:35:276.
01:35:34Made in Abyss
01:35:35A work of art that loves nothing more than to strangle your soul, Made in Abyss is as
01:35:39bingeable as it is sadistic in the way in which it presents a captivating story with
01:35:44wholly innocent characters.
01:35:47Who were forced to contend with both monsters and men of the worst kind.
01:36:02Alongside her cyborg companion, optimistic cave dweller Riko chooses to dive to the bottom
01:36:08of a chasm known as the Abyss in search of her missing mother, in a journey that not
01:36:13only contains wondrous sights, but sinister forces all too happy to unmake them.
01:36:30Beautiful and blisteringly painful to watch at all times, it's a trek that demands your
01:36:35attention even if you want to turn away.
01:36:465.
01:36:48Higurashi When They Cry Franchise
01:36:50A horror show masquerading as a slice of life, when a new student arrives to a new town with
01:36:55the hope of enjoying a new life, he soon finds out that there's something wicked afoot.
01:37:00A curse that loves nothing more than to loop time, just so it can present new opportunities
01:37:05for the cast to lose their minds and try to rip each other apart.
01:37:12Yep, it's one of those anime.
01:37:20Hardcore yet engrossing, it takes a while to get to the long sought good ending, but
01:37:25seeing so many versions of the same characters trying to fight their way out of the worst
01:37:28kind of situations is still entertaining nonetheless.
01:37:334.
01:37:35Kaiji Shows based on death games are all the rage
01:37:38these days, with this being yet another classic example of why getting into debt is a terrifying
01:37:44thing.
01:37:56Desperate to overcome his financial hellhole, eternal loser Kaiji finds himself drawn into
01:38:01various games of life and death, all for the chance to earn that much needed green.
01:38:11He may be an idiot, but Kaiji's quick-wittedness, in the heat of the moment, always makes for
01:38:16a riveting watch, especially with all the craziness tossed his way.
01:38:283.
01:38:32Hunter Hunter Dreaming of finding his absentee father, Gon
01:38:35makes the fateful decision to become a hunter, and in doing so would helm what many would
01:38:40consider to be the best shounen experience to date.
01:38:56The ingredients are all here.
01:38:58A fantastic tournament arc, foes with staggering complexities, fight scenes that put its contemporaries
01:39:04to shame, and an endearing cast constantly challenged by the world around them, it just
01:39:09keeps going.
01:39:17The ride to reach the end is so good that it won't even matter that a continuation
01:39:21seems increasingly unlikely.
01:39:292.
01:39:36Attack on Titan Giant monsters, giant walls, and one angry
01:39:40youngster vowing to tear it all down.
01:39:50One of the century's most explosive and enthralling anime experiences, Eren Yeager
01:39:55and the Survey Corps' mission to wipe out the Titans might sound like standard fare,
01:40:00but the series has quickly proven itself to be a master at subversive narratives and phenomenal
01:40:05world building.
01:40:17There's never been a better time to dive in and see just what the hell everyone is
01:40:20talking about.
01:40:21You know, if you're one of the two anime fans out there that hasn't taken the plunge

01:40:51Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
01:40:53The second iteration of the Elrics and their journey to find the Philosopher's Stone
01:40:57is generally agreed to be one of the greatest anime ever created, and it also proudly wears
01:41:03the crown of being the most binge-worthy, even with such a meaty episode count.
01:41:16Committing a terrible mistake whilst trying to bring back their deceased mother through
01:41:20the power of alchemy, Edward and Alphonse's journey to reclaim what they've lost is
01:41:24staggering in scope and effortless in execution.
01:41:36Brotherhood is no slouch when it comes to its brawls, but it shines brighter than most
01:41:41when it comes to the introspection of its leads.
01:41:43No matter how you look at it, it's the best anime has to offer.
