00:00Hello there this is me Ansh Pandey and you are watching this special space on US elections only
00:06on One India English. Folks on 13th of July a major event in the US elections happened. The 45th
00:15president of the United States Donald Trump got shot at his Pennsylvania rally but he survived.
00:22But after that what right now is happening in the United States is a plunge and a massive
00:29earthquake in the politics. On both sides of the camp there is ruckus on both sides. There are
00:34questions that how it happened, who did it, who was behind it and will it create any impact on
00:40the US election result that is now just four months away. Today to talk on this we have got
00:48a very special guest with us. Viewers this person this special person has been a very close guy of
00:55the Democrats and also President Biden. Ladies and gentlemen please welcome Mr. Ajay Jain Bhattoria
01:02straight from California. Mr. Ajay welcome to the show. Thank you Ansh. Thank you for having me.
01:07Thank you. Mr. Ajay let's first discuss the events of 13th July. The whole world saw what
01:14happened that day and how Trump was shot that day and after that various questions have started to
01:22emerge on the social media from the questions regarding homeland security to the negligence
01:30in secret service. I have also seen some social media reporters and even some swing voters
01:36questioning that who is actually responsible. Sir as an American Indian what do you think about this
01:43and do you believe that is this going to hamper Biden at some sort? First of all I strongly
01:49condemn this act of political violence or violence of any kind. It is great that former President
01:56Trump is doing well. It is said beyond measure that a rally attendee was killed on that day
02:01and few others were wounded. My thoughts and prayers are with President Trump and everyone
02:05affected at the rally. I wish them a speedy recovery. President Biden immediately spoke
02:10after the event with President Trump and you know also the violence should never occur in our
02:17democracy. In US we settle our differences through ballots, through voters not through
02:25bullets. This is unusual. President Biden and you know Democrats have been strong advocates of gun
02:32control and we have been saying that the guns like AR-15 or AK-47, semi-automatic, automatic
02:40all these kind of guns are not supposed to be in public hand and they should be taken off.
02:44We've been fighting for gun control for many years. We have seen people killed in schools,
02:48colleges, you know nightclubs, malls, you know regular incidents happening. So this incident
02:56whether we don't know who was behind it, whether it was a foreign entity who wanted to
03:01create a division between Americans or whether it was a someone mentally health disturbed
03:09young 20 year old or whether it was politically motivated we don't know and we won't know this
03:15for many weeks or months till the investigation is completed. But I do see that there was a lapse
03:21on the security part of the security service or the security or the local police where I did see
03:27certain videos where people are saying there's a guy on the on the terrace and pointing to security
03:32but security never took an action. They would have immediately taken him out and all those
03:37questions remain unanswered like everyone else has in the mind. But then this was the time for
03:44unity, for you know uniting the country and healing the country and transcending beyond
03:50partisan and together championing for peace, unity and compassion. I think both the sides
03:56you know tried to cool down the atmosphere of the country through message of peace and unity
04:02which was timely thing. But also sad to say that the guy who's shot was you know later
04:13on the social media is to say that he's a registered republican using a gun which republicans
04:23yeah in the social media that's what the social media says and I cannot validate or invalidate
04:27that information. But so we used a gun which is you know promoted by republicans that people
04:33should have access to gun and did an act which is strong which is supposed to be strongly condemned
04:39but you know that's what it happened. I mean this is actually something new I didn't know about it.
04:44Sir, I had one more query about that. Sir, regarding Joe Biden actually right now he's facing not just
04:51one actually multiple challenges. If we talk about from his age factor to his sometimes slip
04:58of tongue that goes viral on social media many times. Most of the clips recently have been viral
05:05even in the NATO summit he called president Putin's Vladimir Zelensky.
05:11Yeah yes sir. So sir this is also a thing that the voters have in their mind that
05:19is Biden's age also very big concern as per you and what do you think? Can Biden and Harris
05:25in just these next four months can change the tide regarding this?
05:30See I was hearing an interesting fact that I was looking at many polls and one of the polls
05:36major poll said that after the gun control Trump only get one percent increase in vote share or
05:42maybe two percent as a sympathy vote share. I would have expected much more higher vote share
05:49increase but those polls say it is one to two percent which is nothing much. I mean still
05:53there are three months of time and we can definitely you know beat that numbers and
05:59President Biden and Vice President Harris can recover that. Having said that what I tell people
06:06is that to compare the two presidencies, compare the presidency of what President Biden has done
06:11to lower down the cost of the prescription drugs, what President Biden has done to bring the
06:16manufacturing back in US to create the highest number of jobs and lowest unemployment rate
06:21to you know to lower down the inflation and on and on to bring the semiconductor manufacturing
06:28back to US and so on and on. Now what Trump has done in his presidency, there was chaos,
06:36there was Muslim ban and there were so many more things which you know country had going through a
06:41Asian American hate crimes and so much more. We don't want that you know another four years of
06:47Trump. Trump himself said that he would be a dictator day one. These are his own words
06:56and his presidency you would use it for revenge and retribution. Trump said that he would allow
07:02to ban abortion nationwide with or without Congress. That's taking away women's right
07:09or taking away women's rights are the human right, taking over the human rights to abortion.
07:13Trump said that he would repeal Obamacare, repealing healthcare for many Americans without
07:18having a concrete plans for replacement. Trump said that he would slash social security and
07:23Medicare. He said that he will cut down or you know on FBI, the agencies of the education
07:29department or many more things. He would raise work cost for workers and he would give cut to
07:36billionaires as he did in the first term and he also said that he will abandon NATO,
07:40NATO and our allies. So and I know that will help Putin for further invasion of Ukraine or whatever
07:46and much more. So what does that mean? You know we and the next president will have chance to
07:54you know appoint two more Supreme Court judges. We have already seen you know the current
07:59conservative Supreme Court judges appointed by Trump trying to overturn Roe versus Wade or many
08:05things and if we have these two judges appointed by Trump the country can go back to losing the
08:11you know LGBTQ rights and so many much more I mean which will be a disaster. So that is why
08:17you know Democrats say that Trump is a threat to democracy. Now how else would you say if someone
08:23says I won't be a dictator day one? You have to say he's a threat to democracy and that's why
08:28it's still time for Democrats to think through and independent voters and the swing voters
08:35who will definitely end up voting for President Biden and think. Now when they compare his
08:41presidencies getting the work done he knows what is the difference between right and wrong and he
08:46has experience to get the work done. Now coming to age factor and you know what they call media
08:54missing the names or things. Media completely ignores the lies made by Trump. He on the debate
09:01stage he said more than 28 lies but media ignored it. Media ignored when he calls his wife Melani
09:10as some other names. When he forgets some other names and he uses something else. When he goes
09:15on a rant and he's doing speech to not having shower proper water in the shower. I mean he
09:22talks random things and then nobody notices and then but you know the whole media has been very
09:28tough on President Biden. If you allow me I'll tell you one personal story.
09:35I've been able to see President Biden several times. A few weeks back I was in Virginia.
09:43There was a fundraising event with President Biden, President Clinton, Secretary Clinton
09:49and First Lady. They were all on the stage and we prior to that there was an event in LA with
09:54President Obama and so my son he's 13 and we were traveling from
10:03and he was exhausted and tired. So we were standing right in front of the stage and then
10:08waiting for the President to come. So we stood there like an hour and a half and then President
10:12came there were speeches for an hour. So by the time he was so tired that he was leaning on me
10:17and he was easy to sit down but there was no place. So but we were right in front of the stage
10:23and so he was leaning I was trying to hold him and as if like he's going to fall down like a kid
10:28he was behaving but he's always a great kid I mean. So President Biden saw that after the speeches
10:34were done when he came to the rope line to meet people he came and he asked me Ajay, how's your
10:40son doing? Is he doing okay? I saw him that he's not feeling well. I said Mr. President he is tired
10:45and exhausted not feeling well but now seeing you he's happy and he hugged him he talked to
10:50him for two three minutes and gave him all the love and attention. So now tell me sitting on a stage
10:58we are like 20-25 feet away a crowd of 700 people the President notices a kid not feeling well
11:06and then comes and talks to him and asks him is in the best awareness is in the best presence of
11:12mind and is in the best kind heart and compassionate and he's caring and he cares
11:19about the people and that's why he says that he wants to finish the agenda and only he can
11:24defeat Trump right now. So I think the tweet of President Biden and Harris is the strongest
11:31ticket and Democrats are going to defeat Biden I mean going to defeat Trump and my slip of
11:38tongue Democrats are going to defeat Trump and elect President Biden and Vice President Harris
11:44and they will deliver four more years. Now we are not only electing President Biden and Vice
11:50President Harris we are you know electing a team a team which has delivered this four years we are
11:55electing Secretary Tony Blinken who was delivered on the leadership on the foreign stage we are
12:01electing United States Trade Representative Kathleen Tyne who's you know expanded US trade
12:08and globally we are electing Defense Secretary Austin who has you know carried us up through
12:14several you know foreign wars and support and keeping America safe. We are electing the people
12:21who are leading the homeless you know the Commerce Department or the Education Department or
12:28everything else. So there's a strong team which is working behind and keeping the
12:32country successful and moving forward so that's what I have to say. Well definitely
12:39as you talk about the team that it is going to get elected again. Sir but still there's one
12:45more factor that is infighting. We have seen infighting within the Republican party for the
12:51last few months when Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis and other were vying for the presidency but
12:57eventually right now the Republican National Convention is going on and most of them have
13:01now endorsed Trump. Coming to the Democrats right now there are two prominent Democrats whom I
13:08remember one is Chuck Schumer and other is Adam Schiff if I'm not wrong. Both have advised and
13:16there are reports that they are saying and pushing Biden to step down because it is hurting the
13:23Democrats. I mean that's what the reports are claiming within the CNN and other reports are
13:28also claiming these things. Sir what do you think these reports specifically are they hampering
13:35Democrats because these reports of infighting are now getting more frequent in the Democratic
13:42faction and the Democratic National Convention is still at least two three weeks away if I'm not
13:46wrong? Yeah the Democratic Convention starts from August 18th to 23rd. I'm on the rule committee and
13:54I look forward to the convention and the good thing about the Democratic party is that we are
13:59an umbrella of so many different you know diverse groups and people of different opinions and things
14:07but when it comes to the country the candidate and the president Biden the differences are
14:12appreciated and everybody has a right to voice their voice whether in support or against but at
14:17the end of the day they know that to defeat Trump everybody is united. You do hear in media the voices
14:25and things of you know they express their concerns and things but let me also tell you the voices and
14:31support. Governor Gavin Newsom from California he's strongly behind President Biden and been campaigning
14:37for him and you know he has been working very hard whether it's the governor of Michigan
14:43Gertrude Whitmer or Governor Shapiro or Governor of other states they all you know are behind
14:52President Biden. There's a huge list of members of Congress and Senate which is you know
15:00the most important thing is the voters are behind President Biden. The voters want another four years
15:06of Biden another four years of healing. President Biden when the first election saved the soul of the
15:12nation and that's restored the soul of the nation which he was successful you know cooling down the
15:18temperature uniting and you know moving forward the country and the foreign leadership and much
15:24much more. Now he we have what does President Biden want to do in first 100 days let me tell
15:31you he's going to restore the protection of Roe versus Wade as a law of the land to support
15:37you know abortion. He's going to support you know for women right women's right I mean.
15:46We are going to defend the right to vote. Many cities and many states are making it difficult
15:51to vote for people. There is a state where if you go give water to someone who's standing in long
15:57line for voting you that is a criminal act you will be punished or what kind of thing is that
16:04that if you give water to someone who's standing in the borderline that is to discourage voting.
16:08We are going to fight for Medicare and social security. We are going to make the tax code fair
16:13for we are going to raise the federal minimum wage and we're going to continue lowering the
16:17cost of prescription drinks like what President Biden has done for you know insulin at keeping
16:24it $35 and we are going to keep leading the climate change and clean energy and and getting
16:29weapons of war of our streets so that nobody can attack you know more people. So this is what
16:36President Biden plans to do and this is what the Democrats want and this is what the voters will
16:41vote for and and we are confident that President Biden will defeat Trump. They can see that
16:48in spite of all this sympathy factor he's going to be defeated.
16:52Okay surely sir which like Democrat camp is quite enthusiastic about their impending victory.
16:59Sir just two more questions. One is this one that the war in Ukraine and Israel
17:06are two prominent wars which America is not definitely fighting but the traces are clearly
17:11visible of the Biden administration also the traces and the camaraderie between Biden and
17:17Zelensky is well known but when we talk of Trump, Trump's statement on Ukraine have often
17:22drawn criticism. Sir do you believe that if Trump somehow wins the election is the foreign policy
17:28of the White House regarding these two states some sort is going to see some sort of major changes?
17:35I mean what I hear from Trump on his speeches is that he said that he's going to stop supporting
17:40Ukraine and he's going to talk to Putin and probably if you are supporting Ukraine you
17:47are encouraging Russia to take over Ukraine so that's a major shift I mean and on Israel
17:55he doesn't support the rights of the Palestine and he is going to be you know
18:03more supportive of you know Israel and IDF and at the same time President Biden has been sensitive
18:08about innocent people getting killed on both sides and he has been trying hard to bring peace in the
18:15Middle East so he's going to withdraw from the NATO and we don't know how his shift will be with
18:25China and India. So India is the strongest ally one of the strongest ally with President Biden
18:32and US and India they are one of the strongest partnership of this century that's how President
18:40Biden has defined and we saw that during the visit of Prime Minister Modi and President Biden
18:46having a good relationship and opening up working on defense and many other areas.
18:51So yeah I mean what Trump says those policies will be disastrous for the country.
19:00Okay so just one last question I know the time is running short but still I'll ask. So regarding
19:07immigrants we know Biden's policy on immigrants is quite soft and but Trump is completely on a
19:14different page his border wall is a well-known thing it has been a very condensate issue
19:20in the United States and also for the world it has been condemned by many nations but sir
19:26immigrants do you see immigrants making a major turnaround in support of Biden in the 2024
19:33elections? You know when you talk about immigration Biden Trump wanted to build
19:40a border wall he had four years and he only built like less than 50 meters I don't exactly
19:44know the numbers he didn't do it I mean he only talked about it but he never did it
19:49spread it the kids of people coming in asylum the parents and kids and many kids lost their
19:55connection with the parents the young ones and they are you know orphans of things he did all
20:00the things which would hurt the you know the people who are seeking asylum but he didn't do
20:07the you know the people who are seeking asylum he didn't do much for legal immigrants as well
20:12that helps many many hundreds and thousands of people of Asian and Indian origin so that they
20:18don't have to go back to India to do stamping they can get the stamping done here. I have like
20:24seven recommendations put to the commission to the president Biden one of the biggest is to issue
20:30employment authorization card when you file the first stage of the green card I-140 and not wait
20:36till you know 15 20 30 years to get a employment authorization card extending the grace period from
20:44people on h1b from 60 days of contamination from 60 years to 180 days doing something for
20:51removing the for kids aging out removing the wait time period from the calculation and so much more
21:00so president Biden is working on legal immigration and these things are in process
21:05that they do take time you know to change these rules and the agencies USA has time so
21:12definitely in the next term we'll see these things moving and this will benefit the immigrants and
21:16your question on whether immigrants will help Biden there are 4.4 million Indian Americans there
21:22are almost by a total of four to five percent of the Asian Americans and they are the victory of
21:27margin for President Biden in the middle ground states of Michigan, Georgia, Philadelphia,
21:31Pennsylvania and Arizona and Nevada and they are going to take Biden through the finish line they
21:38strongly support the policies of President Biden and they want President Biden to come back so
21:44yet the immigrants are strongly supporting President Biden. Well Mr. Ajay, thank you for this interview
21:52and I believe even for a precious time I mean sir it's I know the election season is going on
21:58and even you are tightly packed in your schedule but still you got the time for this interview and
22:02I am really humbled for that that you gave this time to us sir really really thank you and I hope
