00:13Amanah Communications Director Khaled Samad admitted that it has been difficult to dispel

00:17such views in rural areas, compared with urban areas.

00:23He gave the example of his former Malay majority parliamentary seat of Shah Alam, which he

00:28held on an Amanah ticket from 2008 until his party colleague Azli Yusuf replaced him

00:34in the 15th general election.

00:37Khaled said it was also a challenge to compete with the influence of UMNO and PASS, which

00:42have been around for longer and established branches nationwide.

00:46However, he said Amanah has been diligently going to the ground, including in opposition-held

00:52areas to explain itself and to counter accusations against it.

00:58Khaled was responding to political analyst Zairini Azmi of University Science Malaysia,

01:04who said Amanah had failed to play a more proactive role at the Sungai Bakarpa election,

01:09which saw Pakatan Harapan lose.
