01:53My fellow citizens of Edo State, I come before you today with a grateful heart and uplifted
01:59spirit as your deputy governor.
02:02For the past seven years, I must say it has not been an easy journey.
02:08We have had many struggles and unsettling events that have shook our beloved state.
02:15What you have mentioned among these was the illegal impeachment of prostitutes by the
02:19Edo State House of Assembly, which was not just an affront to my personality, but a direct
02:27assault on the democratic value we share.
02:31This move was a grave leap towards dictatorship, endangering the very foundation of our democracy.
02:39Let me reiterate that this impeachment was conceived solely because of my decision to
02:46run for the Edo State 2024 governorship election under the People's Democratic Party, PDP.
02:52An ambition which is not just my right as a free-born homeboy of Edo State, but a legitimate
03:01right afforded to all Nigerians.
03:04It is injustice that the ordinary society is centered, said Aristotle.
03:11My life's work has been dedicated to serving the people of Edo State with integrity and sincerity.
03:18I have served you for seven years tirelessly, uplifting our citizens, strengthening democratic
03:25institutions, and upholding the principle of democracy and justice.
03:32In return, I was deprived my fundamental human rights, maltreated, oppressed, and yet remained
03:40resolute, as I promised and swore to and owed to serve not just you, individual, but the
03:47people of Edo State.
03:49It is injustice which draws strength.
03:52Therefore, I wish to thank you.
03:55I thank Nigerian police and other law enforcement agencies for their constant and conscious
04:00effort to ensuring that peace is maintained in our dear state, especially at this time
04:05we are getting ready for the 2024 governorship election.
04:09Truth has always conquered lies, and the rule of law prevails over lawlessness.
04:16My confidence in our democratic values shall always stand strong.
04:24My name has been vindicated by God.
04:28I sincerely want to thank the judiciary, who have shown a consistent and upright resolve
04:35to defend our democracy.
04:37I thank the good citizens of Edo State.
04:41Indeed, all Nigerians who believe in democracy and justice have stood with us during this crisis.
04:48Tyranny and oppression has no place in our modern democracy.
04:54We must resist those who seek to undermine our freedom and trample on our rights.
05:00To all those trying to frustrate our striving democracy with illicit actions, with the aim
05:08of throwing our dear Edo State into confusion, always remember, posterity will judge you
05:17for your betrayal and blunt abuse of office.
05:21The voice of the common man remains in the hands of the judiciary, and they have once
05:28again affirmed that the judiciary remains the last hope of the common man.
05:35My appreciation also goes to the religious leaders, traditional institutions, led by
05:41our Royal Father, His Royal Majesty, Omonoba Nnedu Ukwa Kolokolo, Oba Ewa Reddy II, Ogidiga
05:49Diwubdo of Benin, Oba Atokpe Eisei.
05:55To the people of Edo State, I reaffirm my commitment to you and to the values that unite us.
06:03I am determined to continue to serve you.
06:06I will not be intimidated by those who seek to undermine our democracy.
06:11I will continue to fight for the rights and freedom of all Edoites and Nigerians at large.
06:18Together, Edo State shall rise as a beacon of hope it has always been known for.
06:24Pestilence, strength, growth, progress, and prosperity back to the grassroots.
06:32Thank you for your wavering support.
06:35God bless Edo State.
06:37God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
