00:00Steve, before I let you go, we are now sitting in day two of the RNC. Former
00:06President Donald Trump is expected to speak on Thursday. He told a reporter he
00:10ripped up his speech that was largely critical of Joe Biden. He's going to be
00:17speaking on a message more of unity. What are you looking for between now and
00:21the end of the RNC? I think what we saw last night was a positive outlook from
00:28all parts of the nation. And on Thursday night, I think the tone is probably going
00:34to matter more than the words themselves. And what the unity shouldn't mean, we
00:39don't have debate. But what people want is a substantive, vigorous debate about
00:44the direction of this country on a whole slew of issues, from national security to
00:49the economy, regulation, and the things that concern people. What direction are
00:54we going to take? Character of the American nation. That's what they want to
00:58have a substantive discussion of. And so they want it done in a civil tone. And so
01:04if Trump can lead the way on that, then the Democrats saying, oh, this is a, you
01:08know, an end of democracy. We've got Hitler coming in and all that kind of
01:11stuff. They're not going to be able to play the scare card. They're gonna have
01:15to respond with substance. And what's amazing, and I'll sound partisan, but so
01:20what, in terms of things like the electronic vehicle, EVs, that getting
01:28rid of the internal combustion engine has never been debated in the public
01:32square. It's been done by diktat, by regulatory decree. And if so, if you're
01:39going to make a fundamental change in transportation like that, that should be
01:45done with the consent, with the knowledge and consent of the governed.
01:50And that's what the Democrats have skirted, trying to do things through
01:54regulations in the old days, through court decisions, instead of appealing to
01:59the governed. And so I think that's going to put them in an awkward position,
02:06especially now that the Republicans have, I think, effectively taken the abortion
02:11issue off the table by not putting it in the platform. Even J. D. Vance is very
02:16pro life, said as an interim, you accept 15 weeks. You've got to bring people
02:22along. When people over, you can't do it by diktat. And so I think the
02:26Democrats are gonna go for substance. I think a lot of the substance people
02:30gonna say that's not the direction we want to go.
