Why Nobody Can Climb This Mysterious Mountain in Tibet

Mount Kailash remains one of the greatest climbing mysteries, with all attempts by experienced mountaineers ending in failure. The mountain's ever-changing position disorients climbers, and mysterious blockages often appear on the paths. According to Tibetan folklore, an 11th-century Buddhist monk named Milarepa is the only person to have ever reached the summit. After his successful climb, Milarepa warned others not to attempt the ascent. Since then, no one else has been able to conquer Mount Kailash. Credit:

00:00There's one beautiful mountain in the southern part of Tibet called Kailash.
00:04Its height is about 22,000 feet.
00:07This is not so high and much less than Mount Everest.
00:10But unlike Everest, almost no one has ever climbed Kailash for one unusual reason.
00:16In 1926, one famous British climber decided to get to the mountain's top and studied
00:21it for a long time.
00:24The Mountaineering Association informed him that the mountain was completely inaccessible.
00:28Despite this, he continued trying.
00:31While exploring its northern part, it started snowing at that moment.
00:35It was impossible to work in such conditions, so he gave up this idea and left.
00:41The next attempt to climb to the top of Kailash was made by another climber, Colonel Wilson.
00:47Together with his companion, they figured out the most suitable passage to the top.
00:51They were confident they would achieve their goal, but the harsh winter ruined their plan.
00:56The colonel wanted to come back again, but he never did.
01:00Another person who wanted to climb to the top was an Australian writer and climber.
01:05He explored the territory of the Tibetan mountains and saw Kailash.
01:09At that moment, he thought he would easily reach the peak.
01:12He met one local lama and asked him if it was possible to climb Kailash.
01:17Lama replied that only an innocent person free from any sin can get there.
01:22This person didn't even need to climb the icy walls, as he would be able to fly up there
01:26like a bird.
01:28The writer didn't really understand what the lama meant, but for some reason, abandoned
01:32his idea.
01:34Then in the 80s, the Mountaineering Association again considered the issue of Mount Kailash.
01:39They decided to allow conquering the peak to Reinhold Messner, an Italian researcher
01:43who was one of the first to make a solo ascent of Everest.
01:48When he heard the offer to climb Kailash, he refused to conduct an expedition.
01:52He said,
01:53If we conquer this mountain, then we conquer something in people's souls.
01:58The climber knew that this mountain was a sacred place for local Tibetans.
02:02Pilgrims from all over the world came to its foot.
02:05Reinhold Messner knew this and didn't want to do something that could offend other people.
02:10No one is allowed to climb to the top of this mountain, but you can go to its foot to feel
02:14the energy and enjoy the beautiful view.
02:17Put a photo of the rainbow mountains and a canvas with a painted landscape next.
02:22It will be difficult to distinguish the drawing from reality.
02:25These mountains look like paintings.
02:28This is a real art of nature.
02:30Rainbow mountains, located in one of the geological parks of China, shimmer with almost all the
02:35colors of the rainbow.
02:37The rocks seem to be covered with glass and reflect sunlight.
02:41This place got these colors thanks to the sandstone and minerals.
02:44These substances have been pressed for 25 million years and have made rainbow mountains
02:49one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
02:52We are in the Philippines.
02:54There are more than a thousand unusual hills spread over a vast area.
02:58No, this is not a photo of chocolates.
03:00This is chocolate hills.
03:02They're small.
03:03The height of the largest reaches about 400 feet.
03:06You can quickly climb to the top in a few minutes.
03:09The peculiarity of these hills is that hundreds of thousands of people daily sprinkle these
03:14peaks with millions of tons of chocolate chips.
03:17And then, when it melts, the incredible smell of cocoa spreads throughout the territory.
03:22Ok, just kidding.
03:23Of course it's not chocolate chips.
03:26Every hill is covered with green grass.
03:28During the dry season, it dries out and gets a chocolate brown hue.
03:32This landscape is just a great photo for a package of sweets.
03:35Perhaps some company has already printed it on its box.
03:39Imagine a small mountain, about 33 feet high and 330 feet wide.
03:43It's not even a mountain, but a small hill.
03:46Nothing grows on it, no grass, no trees, just dark sand.
03:51But the peculiarity of this mountain is that it can move.
03:54Every year it passes a distance of about 66 feet.
03:58Look at it, remember its position and come back in 12 months.
04:03It will change the location, but also change its shape.
04:07Moving mountain is located in the savanna of Tanzania.
04:11This massive dune has been moving in different directions for 3 million years.
04:16In fact, it doesn't consist of sand, but of magnetized volcanic ash.
04:21Once upon a time, a volcano erupted here.
04:24The settled ash formed these hills.
04:26If you take a handful of this ash and throw it into the air, it will be attracted to the
04:30total mass of the dune.
04:32A strong wind makes them move, but magnetic forces keep the sand together.
04:38One day, the mountain split into two parts and went in different directions.
04:43One of the most mysterious and strange mountains is located in North Carolina.
04:48This is Mount Brown.
04:49Externally, you won't find anything special in it, but try to take a tent and spend a
04:53couple nights there.
04:55Perhaps you will remember these nights for the rest of your life.
04:58People have often seen mysterious lights flying around this mountain.
05:02These strange fireballs fly high speeds over the top and disappear into the evening sky.
05:08Sometimes they disappear, appear, and disappear again.
05:12At first, people thought this was the result of ignited evaporating nitrogen, but this
05:16theory was refuted.
05:18Then, someone said that the balls were the light from the locomotive's headlights.
05:22But after the railway was flooded and the train stopped working, people continued to
05:26see the lights.
05:28There were reports of white, yellow, orange, and blue lights.
05:32Many are sure that they are optical illusions.
05:35One physics professor decided to check the validity of this version.
05:39He spent several years in this region, next to the mountain.
05:42Almost every day he filmed the rock, and one day he managed to catch these strange objects.
05:49In July 2016, he recorded Brown Mountain with two cameras from different angles, and both
05:55filmed a flying fireball.
05:57If it were an optical illusion or glare on lenses, then one of the cameras wouldn't have
06:01captured this phenomenon.
06:03This proves that the balls are real, but their nature is still unknown.
06:09One of the men claimed he had touched the flying ball when it was flying on the highway.
06:13The man said he felt an electric current.
06:15Now this place attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world.
06:20Fans of strange and unexplained phenomena like to come here.
06:25This mountain looks pretty scary and lifeless.
06:27It's located on a small volcanic island in the Tasman Sea, Australia.
06:32The island is called Ball's Pyramid.
06:35The sharp mountain range on this land has a triangular shape and a height of 1,800 feet.
06:41This is almost twice the size of the Eiffel Tower.
06:44It seems like some evil mad scientist or vampire lives on the top.
06:49Being on the island and climbing the cliff is dangerous because of the slippery, rocky
06:53surface.
06:55Sailors discovered this place in 1788.
06:58They thought the island was uninhabited and didn't want to explore it.
07:01Then, after more than 200 years, people still wanted to explore it.
07:07This place was considered lifeless for a long time, but scientists found unusual inhabitants
07:12there in 2001.
07:14They were climbing the mountain and found a strange bush at the height of about 100 feet.
07:20Something was stirring inside it.
07:23Scientists pushed aside the branches and saw a colony of big insects, land lobsters or
07:28walking sausages.
07:30These little guys are from the family of stick insects.
07:33They do look like sausages.
07:35Each of them is about 6 inches and has 6 tenacious paws and has a solid brown shell.
07:42On that day, scientists saw 27 insects.
07:45The most exciting thing is that people believed land lobsters were extinct at the beginning
07:50of the 20th century.
07:52How did they end up on this mountain?
07:55And how did they manage to survive in this remote, lifeless place?
07:59No one knows!
