Prime Day Puts Amazon Warehouse Employees at Greater Risk as Workers Under Pressure to Meet Demanding Quotas

  • last month
A Senate report found that Amazon warehouse workers are more than twice as likely to get injured during Prime Day events compared to industry averages. Amazon warehouses are under more pressure and dangerous for employees during Prime Day and the holiday season as workers have to work faster for longer hours under pressure to meet quotas. One worker reported that their facility did not install a safety feature on a conveyor belt that automatically stops when jammed to save time, putting workers at risk of injuries from falling packages. Amazon disputes the report and says it has improved its recordable incident rate and significant injury rate since 2019.
