00:00And when you stop and think about these kinds of things, you have to wonder, if you're even slightly curious, what's behind all this?
00:11And is this something of recent origin? And the answer is, no, it's not of recent origin.
00:19There have been people who have wanted to fundamentally change our nation since the very beginning.
00:26You know, I think back to our founders, who were amazing individuals. They were incredibly smart.
00:35We have a lot of people today who are trying to denigrate them, saying some of them were slave owners and therefore they were horrible people.
00:44You know, slavery was terrible, don't get me wrong. It was a horrible institution. But are we unique in having slavery?
00:54No. There is no society in history that hasn't had to deal with slavery.
01:00What is unique about us is that we had so many people who were vehemently opposed to it that we fought a bloody civil war and lost a lot of our people in doing so to get rid of it.
01:12That's what we need to teach our children. And we need to learn from our defects so that we can become better people, rather than trying to hide our defects or change our history.
01:25You know, we at the American Cornerstone Institute have a program called the Little Patriots Program, where we try to teach the children who we are, what our values are.
01:36And what our history is, we teach them the good, the bad, and the ugly. But the fact of the matter is, when you look at America, there's a heck of a lot more good than there is bad and ugly.
01:49That's how we went from nowhere to the pinnacle of the world.
