00:00The average level is now so high in the peloton that everyone can now close the gap.
00:10Like when someone gets a separation, there's always someone that now has the level to be
00:14able to bridge to that group.
00:16And now because breakaway stages are getting harder and harder to achieve, when people
00:23identify a stage as a breakaway stage, now instead of having 20 guys that want to get
00:27there, you have 80 guys that want to get there, and now instead of having 20 guys, of which
00:31maybe 10 are really good bike riders, now you have 80 guys of which 60 are really good
00:35bike riders.
00:36So it gets harder to form.
00:37Is there like a cultural thing coming from the top, and from the top I mean like Gizmo
00:41and UAE basically?
00:42Because it seems like they don't want anything to go either.
00:45But I also wouldn't want anything to go if I had Pogacar's legs and I could win all the
00:49time.
00:50Winning's pretty fun.
00:51I haven't done it in a while, but if he likes Pogacar, I reckon he likes it.
00:54So does that like filter down, does that sort of, are people just like, ah, I'm just
00:59really like...
01:00Yeah!
01:01So sometimes, I mean you see that now on even sprint stages, like no one goes on a breakaway
01:05on a sprint stage anymore, because everyone knows that there's not really any point.
01:09So I don't know, it's going to be interesting to see how it develops, because I think maybe
01:12this year at the Tour in particular is probably the race that we've seen that unfold the most,
01:18and it'll be interesting to see how that unfolds in the future.
01:20Thanks man.
01:21No worries.
01:23What were you thinking when Jonas and Wimko passed you on the climb?
01:30That it was mighty impressive and quite fast.
01:32And no worries mate.
01:35And I obviously have no idea what happened, and when I watch back a little bit I'll be
01:39able to see what happened, but obviously yeah, they went past and I don't know if they regrouped
01:42afterwards or what happened.
01:45So yeah, not much really to say.
01:48How do you see the level of Tadej and Jonas and Wimko right now?
01:53I think it's probably the highest the sport's ever seen, which maybe isn't so surprising
01:58in the end.
02:00Now we're getting so much advancement in certain things and everyone's trying to refine every
02:04little detail, and instead of it now being a handful of guys in the peloton that are
02:08really trying to refine everything, you've got everyone in the peloton that's refining
02:11everything.
02:12So, and obviously when you have a larger talent pool, because cycling's getting more and more
02:17popular, you find sort of these genetic people that are very well suited to cycling.
02:22No worries.
