00:00Hi kids! Today we will learn about the human circulatory system. So let's start.
00:12Organ system consisting of heart, blood, and all blood vessels is called
00:19circulatory system. Circulatory system circulates blood throughout the body.
00:29The blood circulates nutrients and other essential materials to cells and also
00:37removes waste materials from the cells. But what are these cells? The body of all
00:45living beings, humans, birds, plants, and animals are made up of some basic small
00:53units which are called cells. Cells are very small microscopic structures and
01:01is the smallest living unit. It's the cells that take in oxygen and nutrients
01:09from the blood and produce energy for the working of the cell. Carbon dioxide
01:16and waste are also produced in this process. It is the blood that provides
01:24cells with oxygen and nutrients to produce energy that we need in our daily
01:31lives for every activity. And it's also the blood that removes the waste and
01:37carbon dioxide from the cells. And this system of circulating blood throughout
01:46the body to each and every cell is called circulatory system. And the main
01:54parts of this circulatory system are heart, blood, and the vessels. Vessels can
02:03be arteries, veins, or capillaries. Circulatory system is also called
02:11cardiovascular system. Let's learn the main functions of circulatory system.
02:21Transportation. The cardiovascular system or the circulatory system
02:29transports blood to all the cells of the body and to each and every cell and
02:37removes waste and carbon dioxide from each and every cell. Hormones too are
02:47transported throughout the body via the blood's liquid portion that is plasma.
02:56Next important function of the circulatory system is protection. It
03:03protects the body through its various cells. White blood cells also known as
03:12leukocytes play a very important function in the body's immune system.
03:19They fight off viral infections, produce antibodies against infections, and also
03:27engulf and ingest pathogens and the dead cells from wounds and infections.
03:34Platelets present in the blood also known as thrombocytes are responsible
03:40for clotting of the blood and the formation of scabs on wounds to stop
03:47bleeding. So our circulatory system is responsible for protection from diseases
03:56and also prevents excessive loss of blood from our body. Next very important
04:06function of our circulatory system or cardiovascular system is regulation.
04:15Our blood regulates the temperature of our body. Our body maintains a constant
04:23temperature due to its cardiovascular system or the circulatory system as when
04:29the weather is very hot the blood vessels near the skin surface dilates to
04:35allow excess heat from the body to escape to the surrounding and when it's
04:41too cold outside the blood vessels constrict to keep the blood flowing only
04:47to vital organs and also do not let much heat escape from the body. And this way
04:56our blood regulates the body temperature. So circulatory system is an amazing
05:05highway along with the nutrients gases and waste materials travels the entire
05:13body and it connects all the cells of our body. Now let's try to understand how
05:21this circulatory system works. When we breathe what happens? We inhale oxygen
05:29rich air that goes into our lung. Now this oxygen mixes with the blood and
05:35this oxygen rich blood or oxygenated blood goes to the heart. Our heart pumps
05:43this oxygenated blood to each and every cell of our body and then in every cell
05:50this oxygen is used to carry out the metabolic activities and carbon dioxide
05:57and waste is produced which is again given back to the blood. And this
06:04deoxygenated blood again goes back to the heart. Heart then pumps this
06:10deoxygenated blood to the lungs where oxygen is added to the blood. So this way
06:18the whole circulatory system goes on. So kids today we learned a lot about our
06:26circulatory system. Now you may go ahead and take a quiz to learn more. Bye bye.
