00:00Perhaps playing that number 10 role.
00:07Off we go then, a physical first half, no doubt about it.
00:11Also a real test in terms of the quality shown by the hosts.
00:17Manchester United with a completely different outfield 10 to start this second half.
00:23So some challenges for some of the youngsters out there.
00:28One of the players of course who's come on during half-time,
00:31well-known to the man in the middle of the picture there, Darren Fletcher,
00:34Jack wearing the number 19 shirt.
00:37Playing in, it would seem, that central attacking midfield role in this second half.
00:43Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the way it'll be.
00:45You can see Maxi Oyedeli filling in next to Tolbert Collier.
00:51Harry Amas down on this left-hand side.
00:57Who I'm expecting to be challenging.
01:02Luke Shoren, hopefully a fully fit again.
01:06Tarell Malassier for that left-back spot.
01:09Even this season, he had a great season last year.
01:16There's certainly plenty to come from Harry Amas in the future,
01:19and Tarell Malassier is now working at Carrington,
01:24progressing his fitness.
01:27He's worked hard throughout the summer to try and get back into the first-team picture.
01:32Of course, a long-term injury kept him sidelined for a fair while last campaign.
01:39Here's Rhys Bennett.
01:42He had a brief spell on loan at Stockport County last season,
01:45as well as 12 games for the under-21s.
01:54Amas, the 17-year-old from London.
01:57Toby Collier, 20-year-old, just signed a new deal till 2027,
02:02with an option for another year.
02:07Another one of those youngsters who had a part in the match they scored in the first team.
02:10Didn't make his debut, but he was unused for eight games in all competitions,
02:14seven of those in the Premier League.
02:16Yeah, well, this has got to be the season that he breaks that.
02:22Came from Brighton, didn't he, a few years ago?
02:25He did, yeah. Born in Worthing, but a Brighton youngster.
02:29Signed two years ago.
02:36Always interesting to see the quality of the young players in the academy,
02:39but also the leadership skills that some of them show.
02:47Proud moment for him wearing the armband over here in Norway.
02:52As United try and squeeze it through towards Hugel,
02:54who applied the pressure to win possession back.
02:58United! United! United!
03:06Here go United again.
03:08It's Hugel who was waiting for it, eventually got it.
03:12Fletcher trying to win it back.
03:14James Scanlon in there as well.
03:17It was a really good run, wasn't it, from James Scanlon?
03:20It's just a shame he didn't spot Ethan Ennis coming through
03:24in the bottom of your picture, in the middle of your picture.
03:27If he didn't flick the ball with the outside of his left foot, he was in.
03:30Good break, though, from Scanlon.
03:33Yeah, a player who averaged a goal every two starts, really,
03:37in the under-18s last season.
03:43Strong challenge, which is not out of place in this game,
03:45in Venice from Ethan Ennis.
03:49It was a bit of a bruising first half in some ways.
03:53It's good to see Casemiro get up and eventually get on with it
03:56after that challenge, which didn't seem in any way malicious,
03:59just very ill-timed.
04:00Yeah, it was.
04:01And it was really high, it was dangerous.
04:07As Ronnie Johnson said at half-time,
04:09not a place for a tackle like that on any football field,
04:14never mind in a friendly where there are unwritten rules.
04:18The referee would have had every right to say to the coach,
04:21not here, and take him off.
04:24Brogholm saw plenty of his quality in the first half,
04:27and the run from Sater just a little bit too early.
04:33And the offside flag raised against him.
04:38Not that early, was it? It was tight.
04:40Very tight.
04:41I'm not sure about Habib Ogunnai on the far side.
04:43It may have been if VAR had been in and the lines had been drawn.
04:48I was going to say, no need to get a ruler and a permanent marker
04:51out to draw on our screen here just to check it.
04:55We often say that pre-season is less about the final scoreline
05:00and more about what you get out of the game physically,
05:03albeit you want to win as well.
05:06And it's often the case that Manchester United do in pre-season.
05:13Plenty of pace shown by Ethan Ennis to try and get onto the ball there,
05:16but it's easily collected.
05:24So I think, even though it's taken me five minutes,
05:28I think the only outfield players that we haven't seen
05:31are Sam Mather and Rhys Bennett.
05:35Well, Rhys Bennett is there.
05:37Oh, is he?
05:40That's a good start, isn't it?
05:46Oh, am I getting... Oh, is it Louis Jackson?
05:48Is he there at all?
05:50No, it's Al Joffrey, isn't it, partner?
05:52This is the delights of pre-season,
05:54and I've got so many memories of working with Paddy Crerend
05:57where you'd literally see steam coming out of his ears,
06:00scribbling with his marker pen on his piece of paper
06:03before it just became a load of numbers and crosses out.
06:09So many changes all at once in games like these.
06:11It's best to just sit back and enjoy and just see what happens.
06:14Yeah, forget it.
06:21I don't think they've made as many changes.
06:23No, a few here and there.
06:24Emil Frederiksen is one of those who's come on,
06:27who is another lively winger.
06:29They've got plenty of those.
06:31He can cause problems on either side of the pitch.
06:35He can cause problems on either side of the field.
06:39We'll look to really pick up where they left off in the first half
06:43with their wide players drifting around
06:45and being hard for Manchester United to pick up.
06:48Here is Frederiksen looking to slot it through.
06:50It's well picked off by Al Joffrey.
06:53Yeah, they really found space well, didn't they,
06:57in between the lines, between United's midfield and back four.
07:01The movement was really good
07:03and the passing into them was generally very good as well,
07:09which allowed them to create as much as they did in the first half.
07:18Tag set back for Cernes.
07:25They do have various options on their bench as well, of course,
07:28as they will look to freshen things up a little later.
07:33Koenig.
07:36Cernes a little short there.
07:38Kolya seizing the opportunity to win it back.
07:43Making sure that Marek Witek was concentrating,
07:47which he certainly was in the first half, by the way.
07:49Yeah, he had a really good first half, didn't he?
07:52He made some super saves,
07:54most notably the one when he got down at the feet of...
07:59I think it was Marcus Broome, was it?
08:01Near Pan, it was one of the two of them.
08:03And then he was up straight away onto his feet,
08:05something that goalkeepers work on a hell of a lot,
08:08is being down on the floor and how quickly they can spring back.
08:14He demonstrated that perfectly, but the save was excellent,
08:17it really was.
08:19Highly thought of at Accrington, where he was on loan last season.
08:2318 games in League Two.
08:26After that, swiftly off his line,
08:29well shielded as well by Harry Amas.
08:46Kolya.
08:48Nicely done.
08:49Yeah, lovely flick.
08:51Amas with Frederiksen.
09:00Back it goes to Vitek.
09:10Bennett.
09:13Vitek again.
09:30Happy to have it at walking pace for now.
09:32Everyone gets into their positions and Amas can
09:35work out what he's going to do with it.
09:38Back for Bennett.
09:41Kolya.
09:45Rosenborg trying to pin Manchester United in here.
09:50Riyadeli taking it on.
09:51Really good.
09:56Good eye.
09:58The legs swept away from underneath him.
10:03I think that's probably what the manager would have wanted to
10:05have seen a little bit more of in the first half,
10:07that confidence to take the ball.
10:10I realise that mistakes are going to be made in the first
10:12game or two of pre-season because you are finding your feet
10:15and the fitness isn't there, but you just need to get your
10:19touch right.
10:20I think that was what was slightly lacking in the first
10:22half, but that was a really confident way of playing out
10:25that.
10:26They got the foul in the end on Agunai.
10:33Vitek's clearance is seized upon by Göttingen.
10:39Manchester United quickly behind the ball, though.
10:46Vitek's after it.
10:48Makes no mistake with that.
10:56Such a physical presence.
10:59Happy with the ball at his feet, though, as well.
11:01Agunai trying to make it his.
11:03Collier as well.
11:32Beli buzzing around in there too.
11:36The teenager turns 20 in November.
11:42Tags it.
11:47Switch sides, hasn't he? Tags it.
11:52Salnes just always in that position, trying to make
11:54things happen, trying to spot the pass.
12:01He looks to provide the platform from which Rosenborg can build.
12:09Which means others like Koenig and Frederiksen do the running.
12:14Nicely done, away from Amas, opening Manchester United up,
12:18and then he wanted all the glory.
12:21You go mad, as a coach you go absolutely mad,
12:24he does brilliantly on the touchline.
12:28He puts it through Harry Amas' legs, it's a really good piece of skill,
12:31but this is unforgivable.
12:38United definitely get away with one there,
12:40but as you quite rightly said, Dave, that is glory hunting to the extreme
12:45when you've got so many players there ready for a tap-in.
12:48As a coach you would go ballistic, and so would one of your teammates.
12:53And it's funny, isn't it?
12:56We often talk about pre-season results not necessarily meaning anything,
13:00but of course for these Norwegian players, or players of Rosenborg,
13:04in a little bit of a tricky run of form,
13:07a friendly like this, if they can win it,
13:10it just might turn things around for them, it might make a difference.
13:13They've got themselves into a problem here,
13:16Ethan Ennis stealing away.
13:20A few options up with him,
13:22but he might fancy taking it on himself.
13:25There was just a white wall of outfield players in his way.
13:29Yes, I think if he could have just rolled the ball back
13:33with the sole of his foot, little back heel,
13:35Toby Colley was there for at least a strike on goal.
13:39It was a good run from Ethan Ennis,
13:41but he was fast running out of space to be able to get his shots off.
13:49Brogdon.
13:54A mass with two to deal with.
13:57Koenig had the run on him,
14:00but didn't get the ball where he wanted to.
14:09Now I'm just looking at you, Ben,
14:11because you're seeing these Rosenborg players gathering,
14:14ready to come on.
14:17It's going to be a change en masse,
14:20I would suggest, seven or eight players I think about to come on.
14:23It's like the Trondheim version of Keystone Cops.
14:29We are in the 60th minute.
14:31We knew it was coming, didn't we?
14:33We did.
14:35Sometimes a mass change like this can really boost the game
14:48and get it going again.
14:50Sometimes it can mean that everyone takes a while to settle.
14:53Frederiksen is tracked by Colley, who did a good job.
14:56And wins the goal kick too.
14:59I don't agree with that,
15:02but what I want to say is that he does.
15:08It was a bit pinball, wasn't it?
15:13He started this second half really well, Toby Colley.
15:21So let's see the changes that are made.
15:28There are plenty of them.
15:32Some of the regulars in the first team
15:35given an opportunity to have a rest.
15:37Cellnis, one of those, was so effective for them.
15:42Wrighton also stepping out of the action.
15:45The captain's armband is switched across to Ulrich Hildegard,
15:50who is one of those coming on.
15:56In is Sanderhout as well.
16:00There are a few of the younger Rosenborg squad members.
16:06And a few of the younger players.
16:09You know it's pre-season when they get the deck chairs out
16:11to extend the dugout.
16:22Manchester United just caught napping a little.
16:27Some players in white now very keen to make an impact on Brazil.
16:31Ethan Ennis back to help out defensively.
16:35Mostly done by Amas and Jack Fletcher there as well, dropping in.
16:41I've got eight that came on there.
16:43I bet I'm wrong.
16:45It's pre-season bingo, isn't it?
16:48It's a bit of a mess.
16:50It's a bit of a mess.
16:52It's a bit of a mess.
16:54It's a bit of a mess.
16:56It's a bit of a mess.
16:58It's a bit of a mess.
17:00It's a bit of a mess.
17:02It's a bit of a mess.
17:04It's a bit of a mess.
17:06It's a bit of a mess.
17:08It's a bit of a mess.
17:10It's a bit of a mess.
17:12It's a bit of a mess.
17:14It's a bit of a mess.
17:16It's a bit of a mess.
17:22It's definitely a kind of game when you don't want to be on graphics.
17:28Making all the substitutions happen.
17:32The stadium announcer as well.
17:34I think he ran through things very swiftly there to get it all in the
17:37break of play.
17:39Let's see what challenge this Rosenborg side can present to Manchester United and indeed
17:46the other way round as well.
17:48Awaiting the opening goal.
17:51Up and away and on to the head of Rhys Bennett.
18:06Redrickson.
18:07Manchester United in trouble here, it's nicely pulled back and Vitek I think got a touch
18:14there.
18:15And once again the hosts go close.
18:19Tobias Bocchett, I think, I don't know if he did get a touch but if he did it's a hell
18:27of a save.
18:28What I will say is that I think maybe he should have gone for, oh he did, it's a brilliant
18:32save.
18:34He really should have gone for the far post, the left-hand post, I don't think he would
18:40have got to it then but even so taking nothing away because that was going in, it's a hell
18:44of a save.
18:48What an evening he's had.
18:51Well the game would have to take a big change in direction for Radek Vitek to not be the
18:57man of the match I think or the player of the match tonight.
19:01Someone would really have to step forward and make things happen from an outfield point
19:03of view.
19:04He's made some fine stops.
19:07Some that you'd perhaps expect him to make but some that have been top drawer as well.
19:12I mean he's on that side of his goal anyway because of the ball coming across from Anderson
19:17but you just expected Bocchett to sweep the ball towards that far post where the bulk
19:22of the goal was empty and he didn't, he went near post.
19:28Still hits it with a great deal of power.
19:32Even if it was off the side of his foot, it's a hell of a save.
19:36Tobias Bocchett, a player who can really pack a punch from midfield, 6ft2 and a player who
19:45was formerly with the likes of Starbuck and Bromby, made it up to the under 21s with Norway
19:53but not quite the full senior side.
19:58He's got four consecutive vowels in his name.
20:01Scrabble dream.
20:02He's only been on the pitch a matter of minutes and straight away found some space and that
20:10can be the danger I suppose when a team makes so many changes, you're focused on who your
20:17man was and you've got to make sure you pick up the guy who's just come on in his place.
20:21Everything's changed around you, it's all about concentration.
20:25At times they have done that well, Rosenborg, and that is switching the play and getting
20:30overlaps 2v1.
20:34The switch of players really worked for them at times in this game.
20:38They're in again here, with options waiting, but not receiving.
20:44United almost get themselves into a tangle, Collier will emerge with it.
20:52Frederiksen wins it back.
20:56Waiting for those to gather in front of him and Vitek plunged at the feet of Magnus Holter.
21:03If he wasn't offside, it's a really clever ball from Frederiksen, chances are he probably
21:10wasn't because he was already on the move.
21:22Here's Bennet, Vitek again, gets it back from Ogunnay, Mamas, he decides to attack himself
21:39rather than wait for others.
21:48Magnus Holter has made the run, did well to curve that, Noah Holm would have been offside.
21:54The strike has power, but it's not the required direction.
22:00Always rising from Andersen.
22:02I'm not surprised, because he had no angle whatsoever to be able to strike that ball
22:10from there.
22:12And again, an example of Rosenborg getting into some decent positions and then choosing
22:18completely the wrong options.
22:27Three quarters of the way through the 90 minutes now.
22:48These two clubs have never met in an official competitive outing before.
22:55A couple of friendlies in the past, 1992 pre-season.
23:00Goals from Paul Ince, Brian McClare and Dennis Irwin in a 3-2 win.
23:05And a friendly in 1977, United's first game in Norway, which ended in an 8-0 victory.
23:13Gordon Hill got a double, Alex Forsyth, Sammy McIlroy, Dave McCreery, Jimmy Greenoff, Martin
23:17Buchan and an own goal, completing the scoring.
23:23There were 8,000 fans there that day, there are close to 21,000 here today.
23:30Capacity crowd at the Lerkendal Stadium.
23:41Substitutes combined to cause some trouble, and an opening which, in the end, is stopped
23:57in its tracks.
23:58Mokanae and Oyedeli were there to try and clear the danger, and then Frederiksen just
24:03sauntered through and strikes the post.
24:06He's done the same thing.
24:08I mean, it's a lovely piece of skill.
24:11This isn't a bad ball.
24:12Reese Bennett misses his opportunity to clear.
24:15And Mokanae the same.
24:17It's a lovely touch, and then he goes right round the outside.
24:20And he tries to score from there.
24:22I mean, he's got two players.
24:26I mean, the lad is obviously very talented, but his end product will have to improve.
24:32Well, Radovicek was standing on that near post.
24:36Effectively, there were two near posts, because he was standing right there.
24:39There was no way through.
24:40Yeah.
24:49Now, can Hewgill steal in here?
24:51He can.
24:52Find Ennis.
24:55Ennis happy to take all on.
24:57A decent effort as well.
24:59And a smart stop by Sandberg, who had to get across to it swiftly.
25:03Well, I mean, that must have moved.
25:04It's a terrific strike from Ethan Ennis.
25:09And he held off the challenge.
25:14I'm pretty sure that he struck that with such venom that it was moving all over the place.
25:17It's a poor mistake from the defender.
25:23And he steps inside.
25:27And that is a really good save.
25:34He's already gone down, so it definitely moved,
25:37because he saved that diving to his left and saving it with his right hand.
25:45Erasmus Sandberg will enjoy the fact that he's been able to impress with that.
25:49He's only had a couple of games for Rosenborg this season.
25:57Foul by Bennett.
26:00Nine subs, despite another one.
26:03A little short for Frederiksen.
26:10Nicely dealt with by Fletcher.
26:13Ennis tried to make it his.
26:1519 minutes here for someone to win this.
26:18Perhaps I shouldn't have said that.
26:20Cross was searching.
26:22Just didn't find any takers in the middle.
26:26Has that gone out?
26:27No, I didn't think it had.
26:28A corner flag job, that one.
26:30Kept in by the on-pitch furniture, if you like.
26:35Manchester United get a free kick.
26:42It's remarkable in some ways that this is still 0-0,
26:44because there have been a fair few chances.
26:46United have had a couple.
26:47Rosenborg have had a fair few more.
26:51Neither side has had any benefit from those chances.
26:5618 minutes to play.
26:57There will be a little bit added on for the plethora of changes.
27:04I wouldn't suggest there will be all that many minutes added on.
27:07So around about 20 left to make a difference to the scoreline.
27:18Goals in pre-season, while they don't count towards your
27:22campaign's tally, they're a real boost to the self-belief
27:26particularly for these youngsters, if someone were to step forward
27:29and get one.
27:47Now Joffrey to Bennett.
27:57Lukaku just ran out of room, really.
28:04Another player who's waiting for that competitive first-team debut,
28:08but was on the bench for nine games last season.
28:27Bennett.
28:34Joffrey trying to poke it through towards Scanlon.
28:40Can United get in business here with Hugo?
28:42He didn't quite have the support he thought he had.
28:48Good ball and good run, and a decent call-back as well.
28:51It was the best he could have done under the circumstances, Joe Hugill.
28:55Just, as you say, needed support, somebody running from deep.
29:00Just to get across the defender.
29:03He had a loan spell last season at Burton Albion.
29:06And actually scored on his senior debut.
29:11Came on against Derby County and managed to find the back of the net.
29:16A game which I was commentating on, and he really changed the game
29:19in their favour, albeit Derby County ended up edging Burton out.
29:24Local derby.
29:42Watching it and dealing with it at the cost of a corner.
29:46That's the way it's done.
29:54How he would love to see his side convert one of these chances.
29:59He'll be delighted they've been creating what they have done,
30:02but frustrated that they've got nothing to show for it.
30:09It's good practice for them.
30:13Plenty rising for it.
30:17United see the threat away initially.
30:19It'll come back though.
30:21Frederiksen.
30:25Seen off by Fletcher.
30:32Taking no chances.
30:33Decent ball to the back post.
30:47Concentration key from the corner here for Manchester United.
30:56Hooked in again by Frederiksen!
30:58And how on earth did that not get converted?
31:02Everyone held their breath inside the stadium there.
31:05And he was just waiting to see the ball roll in,
31:07and in fact, it wouldn't have counted in any case.
31:10No.
31:12He would have been offside, I'm not sure.
31:14I'm not so sure when this ball comes back out.
31:19The header, whoever...
31:21Yeah, he was definitely offside.
31:24Decent ball, whipped in with pace.
31:28It's often said that an offside flag in that situation
31:31saves you blushes, but it doesn't really,
31:33because you've still missed it.
31:34You have.
31:37Problem with...
31:40Sandberg.
31:42This goalkeeper has not only just come on,
31:44but came on for the second half.
31:54Well, this could cause a problem for them.
31:56Bearing in mind there...
31:59the goalkeeper went off...
32:02at half-time.
32:11So a little bit of time will be given for the running repairs.
32:14Just a reminder as well, of course,
32:16this is the first game of Manchester United's pre-season.
32:20And United head to Scotland, to Murrayfield,
32:23to play Rangers on Saturday.
32:27And then the tour 2024 fixtures really kick in.
32:31Los Angeles against Arsenal, San Diego against Real Betis,
32:35and South Carolina against Liverpool.
32:39All the pre-season action, of course, here on MUTV.
32:45And then it'll all click into gear with the Community Shield,
32:48and eventually the first game of the Premier League season,
32:51Fulham at Old Trafford.
32:56And by then it'll really feel like we've never been away.
33:02Fine stop, that, wasn't it?
33:03It was, because he obviously...
33:07must have completely misjudged the flight of the ball.
33:11Good strike from Ethan Ennis, really good strike.
33:13Hit with plenty of power.
33:15But similarly...
33:18Sandberg's strong wrist was equal to it.
33:22An orthodox way of saving a shot from there, but it was...
33:27fruitful for him.
33:30By the way, we must, of course, give our commiserations
33:33to Luke Shaw and Kobe Mane, who...
33:36lost out with England, of course, last night in the Euro 2024 final
33:40against Spain.
33:41But also congratulate...
33:43Sandro Martinez and Alejandro Garnacho,
33:45who were winners of the Copa America with Argentina
33:48overnight, winning against Colombia after extra time.
33:51Tauro Martinez, the winning goalscorer.
33:55Yeah, congratulations to them. Well, to all four of them, really.
33:58I mean, it's such a shame that Luke Shaw wasn't fit for
34:01the entirety of the tournament, because I think he would have made
34:04a huge difference.
34:06There was a lot of imbalance down that left-hand side.
34:10He would have definitely plugged.
34:14But Kobe Mane, who was excellent right the way through.
34:19He just came up short, sadly, against a very good Spanish team,
34:22you have to say.
34:27Last ten minutes, Radek. Vitek.
34:31Just told by a few, I think, to speed things up a little bit.
34:34In the crowd, at least.
34:36Just a little bit of sloppiness creeping in at the back for
34:39Manchester United here.
34:46Yeah, it's been a game of limited opportunities for Manchester
34:49United, but that's to be expected
34:52with where both these sets of players are in their
34:56respective seasons.
35:02Here comes the cross, which is a real tester.
35:05Fletcher sees it out in the end.
35:09Scanlon now
35:11is trying to relieve
35:13the pressure on the United back line,
35:16which has been building throughout the course of the game,
35:19really, albeit a couple of levels in the second half.
35:32The important thing when this match is finished is that
35:36players have got 45 minutes
35:39under their belts, or most of them have anyway.
35:44And that
35:46everybody gets
35:48on that plane back to Manchester.
35:51There's no injury concerns to be
35:54to be worried about.
35:57That's what you want as a manager in this game.
35:59That's what you want as a manager in this situation.
36:01Isn't it is a clean bill of health
36:04minutes under the belt as the cliche goes.
36:08And they are cliches at this time of the season.
36:10You know, nothing is ever going to change.
36:12That is what preseason is for is hoping
36:15that you don't get any injuries
36:18and making sure that you get
36:21miles into the legs
36:23that allow all
36:25it will ever before.
36:26But it's so, so vital for to set you up for the current,
36:30you know, the ensuing campaign.
36:32But it's different these days, isn't it?
36:33Because you're not running around Heaton Park and things like that.
36:35No, as
36:37some Manchester United sides were back in the day.
36:39Of course, things change, don't they?
36:41Things change.
36:45Club like Manchester United is is wanted or in, you know,
36:49in all corners of the globe.
36:53You have to
36:55I suppose split their time accordingly when the preseason
36:58comes around.
36:59You know, the Far East market is huge.
37:01Australia.
37:02Obviously, they're here on the way to
37:05to America after the game in in Scotland.
37:15The tests will vary over the course of the preseason schedule
37:18with differing conditions and opponents.
37:22And of course,
37:24squad members wearing the Manchester United shirt as well
37:27as various players returned from international duty and injury.
37:32Yeah, that's true, because not all these players
37:36will will go on the on the tour to to America
37:40because Eric ten Hag will have a, you know, a bulk of his first
37:44team squad that we recognize back.
37:47Some of them will go and maybe what he's looking for is
37:51he knows the opposition is going to improve and
37:53and he wants people to be going on this tour that
37:56he feels will be able to compete with the likes of Arsenal
37:59and Liverpool and then coming back to face Manchester City
38:02and the Community Shield.
38:04Of course, always the potential for new faces to
38:10which was actually one of those who will see at some stage
38:13in Manchester United colors.
38:14We'll see when and of course, players being linked with
38:18this club all the time.
38:24Seven minutes remain of this opening preseason encounter.
38:32And I caught on the ball.
38:37Managing to recover and apologize.
38:42Nothing more you can do.
38:44You make a mistake.
38:45You try and atone for it.
38:46And he did exactly that.
38:47You make a mistake.
38:48You try and atone for it.
38:49And he did exactly that.
38:59Neil Fredrickson across to take the corner.
39:11Bennett unchallenged.
39:13Fredrickson will have it again.
39:16Takes the low road this time.
39:22Joe Hugel back to help out defensively.
39:43Goal kick.
39:47Anderson.
39:52Movement in the middle.
39:53It wasn't the ball they wanted, though.
39:57United just can't get out at the moment.
39:59No, they can't.
40:00And I think it's been a struggle for them in general
40:04for the whole of the game, not just for this half,
40:06but I think it has been slightly more noticeable in this half.
40:13Mohamed Mohamed Mohamed.
40:15At the back.
40:30That could have gone anywhere and it might still go in.
40:35But for Radik Vitek, who has somehow
40:38kept Rosenborg out all evening.
40:42before it fell to to Magnus Holt. He slammed it straight at Radek Witek
40:49and once again has thwarted Rosenborg.
40:58Collier just waiting for the contact really, hoping for it in any case, instead
41:04it's a corner.
41:12Corner is fired into the middle and it ends up gratefully in the gloves.
41:32Good bit of defending to just take the pace off the header from Bukic.
41:42They would love to have a late flurry. Manchester United claim a victory here.
42:09The majority of the play is happening in this half of the field and has been for some time.
42:15It was hopeful though.
42:18Sander Udge. He's only 17.
42:24Stands away from his man nicely but a little bit wayward with his strike.
42:34Is he famous?
42:35Or her, it could have been either. Or there might be a Norwegian Posh Bex.
42:43I was just distracted there because the stadium announcer was talking about games ahead and of course
42:47we've kept sort of alluding to it the fact that Rosenborg are mid-season so
42:52they have a game in a few days time which this will have been good preparation for in some ways.
42:58Of course they will be hopeful and pleased to get a clean bill of health themselves through
43:07this game if indeed that is the case. Radek Witek getting a little knotted up. Indeed United were in
43:12general there and the applause is for the press from Rosenborg that caused some of the issues
43:17there. Yeah maybe that was just a little bit too keen for Radek Witek. We've got away with one there
43:25I feel maybe to miss that out and go into midfield or at least send the ball forward out of danger
43:32it's probably the best bet there but he deserves a little bit because he's been excellent.
43:56So what do you take out of this game Ben from what you've seen today? Well I mean first and
44:00foremost if it does stay like this then a clean sheet is always a plus and yes that has been
44:07mainly down to the I would say the brilliance at times of Radek Witek but it's difficult to be
44:16over critical and and too analytical when it comes to you know your first game in preseason
44:23and it's just important the things that we said earlier that the lads get minutes under the belts
44:31and they all walk away from here with with no injuries and I think the more you go in preseason
44:39then you can start being a little bit more sort of we need more as you know from the manager's
44:45perspective but I think he'll be relatively happy with with the fact that they haven't conceded
44:51he knows that things need to improve but for the first game I don't think you can be too hard
45:02and it's skipping away
45:06on he goes have to wait a fair while for support three minutes more to play
45:15he's been positive Ethan Ennis and he's arguably had our best chance of this half with the
45:21with that wonderful strike from the edge of the box
45:28he's Collier
45:32Hamas
45:35and this has it whipped away and I thought that was a foul Manchester United now need
45:39to scurry back and it's well won back by Iodelli
45:46I thought Voldem came through the back of him there to win that ball
45:51Iodelli saw the opportunity for the switch as did Ben Thornley the arm gesture was there
46:03he obliged towards Oganai
46:09Joffrey just having to be careful looking for Bennett
46:12who has to be likewise I can still well I can still see it Dave I just can't do it anymore
46:21now can Manchester United end with a flourish here
46:26no one has stayed at the back post
46:34Hamas
46:38and it's just run into traffic
46:50Hamas will see it back just about to Vitek who had to quicken the stride
47:12well plenty to discuss on the way back to Manchester
47:16in terms of performance in terms of fitness
47:21so
47:26final minute of the added time one from Frederiksen who has it back again
47:41this will be the last attack are they going to make it count they might steal and they do
47:47with pretty much the last kick of the game Rosenberg find the goal they've craved all evening
47:58and we cannot say it hasn't been coming no and it will be the last attack and it's such a shame
48:06don't get me wrong they have been the team that has looked the more likely to score
48:09throughout the whole of this game it's a bit cruel that it comes in the 94th minute
48:16and it was unfortunate as well he actually blocked his teammate's shot and as he turns around
48:23ricocheted off Rhys Bennett and then hit him home straight into his path
48:30and he was as surprised as anybody to see where it was
48:35and Vitek for once had no chance couldn't get anywhere near it and that is that
48:42the first goal of pre-season goes to Rosenborg and Manchester United's first pre-season test
