00:00Some groups signed an open letter to President Bongbong Marcos to cancel the licenses of POGOs whose customers are from Mainland China.

00:08The National Bureau of Investigation is investigating.

00:12They received information that there might be illegal POGOs inside the resort discussed in Puerto Galera.

00:19We have first news, Tina, for Panganiban Peres.

00:22On Saturday night, NBI Mimaropa detected a target resort in Sinandigan, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro.

00:33Slot machines, Madjong and Bacarat tables, goods and chips were found.

00:39No one was hurt, but 40 people were injured.

00:44Laptops and SIM cards were also found.

00:46It's surprising. It's like a tip-off operation because there are no people there, not only the owner.

00:52It's surprising that there are no people in the poolside, bar. Usually, that's where they hang out.

00:58According to NBI Mimaropa, the resort is exclusive to foreigners counted by the Chinese.

01:06It was opened in 2019 and it is owned by a foreigner who refused to give a statement.

01:27According to NBI, they are investigating the information that there might be illegal POGOs inside the resort.

01:34The mayor of Puerto Galera also denied that there are no POGOs in the resort.

01:43But the gambling materials were found. There are no valid papers.

01:48We don't allow that kind of illegal activities.

01:52I asked what was caught. They said it's mahjong tables.

01:55I said, you know, the resort has ping pong, table tennis, mahjong, as part of recreation for the guests.

02:06The mayor also denied or asserted that there are no POGOs inside the resort.

02:14The issue with POGOs is hot now because of the repeated crimes that happened inside the resort.

02:21There are more gross videos that we don't include anymore because they sliced the squid and added spicy ketchup.

02:30This is their playground now and they can do whatever they want.

02:34They are importing retired military from other countries or some are retired policemen.

02:44That will explain why we have military uniforms and police uniforms in the POGO hubs that we are raiding.

02:52They have prostitution inside. They have KTVs inside.

02:56They have doctors inside. They have pharmaceuticals inside.

03:02Groceries.

03:04If you are not able to pay and you don't want to pay and you don't want to do what they are doing,

03:10or maybe you are not able to comply with their quota, then you will be subjected to torture.

03:18Under the law of China, any kind of gambling is prohibited for Chinese citizens,

03:24including online and overseas gambling.

03:27The Chinese embassy itself filed an appeal in the Philippines to ban POGOs.

03:33That is one of the reasons why President Bongbong Marcos was asked to cancel the POGO license of mainland China.

03:45It is also prohibited under the regulation of the PAGCOR to give a license to POGOs

03:49that are accessible in places where online gaming is prohibited.

03:54Somebody is making a lot of money, but we've got to stop it.

04:19In the hearing of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means,

04:22the government agencies expressed their support for the banning of POGOs,

04:28which is considered a very serious national concern of the National Security Council.

04:33According to the Department of Finance, more than Php 180 billion was lost in the country in one year

04:39due to the negative image of POGOs.

04:42It is more than its benefit, it will only reach almost Php 167 billion.

04:48We have, for instance, the foregone investment due to crime.

04:53We also have foregone revenues from tourism,

04:57because, basically because of that negative picture of having POGO activities in the Philippines

05:10may, in fact, affect the tourism industry.

05:14PAGCOR is in favor of regulating online gambling,

05:18but they do not support the so-called online gambling ban.

05:22If this law that is being proposed will be passed.

05:28And in these difficult times that everyone is facing today,

05:35I believe Php 40 billion is a big amount.
