00:00What's going on everybody, this is Island Hopper TV coming to you from Krabi, Thailand.
00:26We're going to show you the best things to do.
00:28Let's get into it.
00:29That's right Island Hoppers, we're going to show you all around Krabi, Thailand.
00:32There is going to be time stamps below in the description so you can bounce around from
00:36location to location.
00:38Let's go ahead and get into this.
00:40First up on the list is going to require us to get on a high speed boat and head out to
00:44Hong Island, which is actually a lagoon where you can do kayaking and relaxing on the beach.
00:50This is definitely one of the top destinations.
00:53So try and add this to your priority list.
00:55Next up, we're going to do some nightlife.
00:57This here is in Ao Nang, one of the best areas around Krabi for nightlife.
01:02The fun and excitement you see in this video is at the Crazy Gringo, but there are many
01:06different bars and pubs that have live music across Ao Nang, especially along the main
01:11road.
01:12Another area to check out would be RCA, but everything in between is going to have some
01:18sort of nightlife.
01:19And as with everywhere else in Thailand, there's going to be street food here.
01:23So after a night of partying and having fun, you get to end it with some Thai food or kebab.
01:30Now here we are at Emerald Pool.
01:32Let's go take a look.
01:33Admission price to Emerald Pool is 200 baht per adult and 100 baht per child.
01:39It's really nice to swim in here.
01:42It's kind of warm.
01:43Not a hot spring, but it's not cold.
01:46It's just warm, like lukewarm.
01:48There is more than one pool here, as you will see.
01:51Let's go check out Blue Pool, which is about a 15-minute walk away from Emerald Pool.
01:59Well, you can't swim here, so keep that in mind if you're going to venture out this far.
02:04The jungle out here is crazy thick.
02:07The good news is Blue Pool is included in the admission price for the Emerald Pool.
02:14When I was here in late June, it was raining quite a bit, so maybe consider bringing an
02:19umbrella for that hike.
02:23In between the Blue Pool and the Emerald Pool is an area known as the Shrine of the Hermit,
02:28literally out here in the middle of the jungle.
02:30As I was walking around here, I noticed they had statues of tigers, and yes, there are
02:34wild tigers in Thailand, but in this area of Krabi, the tigers are extinct, so don't
02:40worry about that.
02:42Would you live out here in the jungle in Thailand?
02:49And here I am now, inside of the actual Princess Cave.
02:53You can see I'm basically the only one in here right now.
02:56The area actually is known as Phra Nang Cave Beach, and around here you'll get great views,
03:02awesome pictures, and just a really great beach to hang out.
03:05When the low tide is there, it's even better, in my opinion.
03:09There is no road here, so you can't take a car.
03:12You have to take a long-tail boat to either come into one of the two ports that they have here.
03:17Typically, when you arrive at Rele Beach, you also do Phra Nang Cave.
03:22For those of you who are looking for the cave restaurant, that's actually here at Phra Nang
03:26Cave Beach, although you have to stay at the hotel Reapadee in order to get access to there,
03:32and rooms consistently cost in between $500 to $1,000 a night at that hotel.
03:38Now let's talk about Rele Beach.
03:40This is actually where you arrive in the long-tail boat from Ao Nang.
03:44They just basically drive the wooden boat right up there on the shore, and you just hop out.
03:48That boat ride takes about 10 minutes and costs $100 baht per person.
03:55There's a third beach that you may want to check out.
03:57It's called Ton Sai Beach.
03:58Now let's head over to the Phi Phi Islands.
04:00Now the Phi Phi Islands are about an hour from Krabi by high-speed boat.
04:05The main islands that you'll check out here are going to be Koh Phi Phi Lee and Koh Phi Phi Don.
04:10Where Ton Sai Beach is, you can see the viewpoint here, and they do have a town and village.
04:15If you didn't want to feel rushed in the Phi Phi Islands, you can actually get a bungalow resort
04:19right there on the beach, and stay one or two days, and then go back to Krabi.
04:23And while you're out here at the Phi Phi Islands, you can actually head over to Maya Bay.
04:27This is where the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio was filmed, called The Beach.
04:31So while you're out here, definitely take the time to go on the long-tail boat,
04:36or one of those tours from Ton Sai Beach out here to Maya Bay.
04:39It might take another 15 to 20 minutes to cross that body of water,
04:43but then once you're there, this is really amazing.
04:46Although you can no longer swim from the beach here.
04:52What most people do who want to swim here at Maya Bay is they get a private long-tail boat,
04:57and that captain of the boat will typically drop you off outside of the area that is restricted,
05:02so you can actually swim on the outside of the restricted area.
05:07Another area that people like to go to is Monkey Beach.
05:10Just be careful getting too close to those monkeys.
05:12They're not as friendly, although they're fun to take pictures with,
05:15and go walk around this beautiful lagoon area, where the water is basically translucent,
05:20bluish-green, amazing.
05:22But the monkeys, they can be a bit feisty.
05:25One more area to explore while you're out here is going to be Pele Bay.
05:29Now this is a beautiful lagoon.
05:30When you're out here, they also allow you to get in the water and swim,
05:33depending on what tour you're on.
05:35Well, we've made it to Pele Bay.
05:36There's a lot of long-tail boats and speedboats in here.
05:39Yeah, it does get a bit crammed and congested.
05:41Typically, if you go earlier in the morning, it won't be as busy,
05:44but if you're there around like 1, 2, 3 o'clock in the afternoon,
05:47it's going to be packed with boat traffic.
05:49Now let's head back to Krabi.
05:51Well, we're about to find out how hot it really is.
05:53And while you're in Krabi, you can also go to hot springs,
05:56like this one here at the Hot Spring Waterfall.
06:00Very hot.
06:02Cool, though.
06:03It's nice.
06:04Yeah, so once you get in the water, it's actually quite hot.
06:07Much hotter than the Emerald Pool.
06:15Super refreshing in here.
06:17It is 200 baht to get in here,
06:19and they do have a tram that goes back and forth for 10 baht each way.
06:2320 baht round trip.
06:25Yeah, the water source is obviously a hot spring
06:27that eventually pours into a river.
06:35Next up, we're going to check out another island.
06:38This here is Koh Lanta.
06:40Now, Koh Lanta is about an hour south of Ao Nang,
06:43and you can get here by boat in peak season,
06:47but in low season, it's kind of hard to get here by boat.
06:49You usually have to take a car,
06:52but it's a lot more relaxing out here,
06:54as you can see by the sunset.
06:56Now we're heading...
06:57Another popular thing to do while you're in Krabi
06:59is go to this here Tiger Cave Temple,
07:02and then you hike to the top of this mountain.
07:06There is a Buddhist monk monastery here,
07:09so you'll see that.
07:11Also, it is still under construction.
07:13Some of the temples are still being built,
07:15but you can go to the actual cave.
07:17Now, even though it's called Tiger Cave,
07:19the tigers are no longer here in the area.
07:22The hike up the stairs is a bit steep,
07:24so keep that in mind if you're trying to make the journey.
07:32There is wild monkeys here,
07:34and if you decide to get a snack or an ice cream
07:37and you're walking, the monkeys may try and grab it.
07:40If you do try to go to the top,
07:42there is great viewpoint up here,
07:44and you can see all around from Krabi's highest point.
07:48All right, now we're here at the night market in Krabi Town.
07:52This is considered Krabi Town Walking Street.
07:54It is a night market that happens on the weekends
07:57is when the best time to go.
07:58That's Friday through Sunday.
08:00It starts around 5 or 6 p.m. depending on the season,
08:04but you're going to have great food selection.
08:06If you love Thai street food, it's all around here,
08:09and they've also got some local seafood that you can try.
08:18Another thing to do when you come to Krabi
08:20is have a rain day because it rains a lot here,
08:23especially during rainy season, so bring your umbrella.
08:26Even though this is not necessarily something fun for you to hear,
08:29I am telling you, it rains a lot, and when it rains, it pours.
08:33It's been raining all day.
08:35It's been raining actually every day I've been here for the last four days.
08:38One more thing you can do when you're out here
08:40is check out a Muay Thai fighting event.
08:42This here is the Krabi International Boxing Stadium.
08:45There's usually a mix between international fighters
08:48and then local Thai fighters.
08:51And when you're in Krabi in Ao Nang,
08:53you can find great deals at stores just like this.
08:56You'd be surprised at the prices, right guys?
08:58Right, right, right.
08:59And you can get great deals here at LIM with a toya.
09:02How much for one of these suitcases?
09:04One Thai Thai.
09:05Okay, show us what else you got.
09:09A watch.
09:10We have a watch.
09:11It's like tag.
09:13Okay.
09:14How much for the Rolex?
09:15Rolex is 5,000.
09:175,000, that's about 150 bucks.
09:19Nearly.
09:20Okay, it's a grade A copy or a grade B copy?
09:23Grade A.
09:24Grade A copy, huh?
09:25Yes.
09:26How about a lady's purse?
09:27Lady purse, we have a Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton.
09:31How much for this one?
09:32This is 1,800, man.
09:341,800?
09:35Okay, that's around 1,800.
09:37Okay, that's around 1,800.
09:39Okay.
09:41This is 1,800, man.
09:421,800?
09:43Okay, that's around, what, $45?
09:45Yes, yes, $48.
09:47$48?
09:48How about the Prada right here?
09:49The Prada is 2,000.
09:512,000?
09:52Yes, probably.
09:53What about if they did 1,500?
09:54Would you give them a good deal if it was happy hour?
09:56Yes, we can do it, yes.
09:57Okay.
09:58Yes, we can do it.
09:59Another thing you can do is shop for great deals, like at one of these tailors.
10:03Here you can get custom shirts from my friend here at Royal Tailors.
10:08When you're in Krabi, come see this guy over here at AK Fashion.
10:12Lucky.
10:13He's got Thai silk for 1,000 baht, custom fitted.
10:17Street here in Ao Nang.
10:37All right, next up, let's talk about food here in Krabi.
10:47I'm actually on Raleigh Beach eating seafood, prawns.
10:51I'll show you.
10:52So I just had one prawn.
10:54Let me just tell you, the lemon makes it taste a lot better.
10:57It's very similar to lobster, but it's a bit tougher meat.
11:01The potato is great, also with the lemon and the butter.
11:06And as with many places in Thailand, I like to ask the local server what food they like when they eat here.
11:12And in this case, I'm sitting down at a restaurant in Krabi on a rainy day.
11:16I'm going to have Tom Yum soup with chicken and some spring rolls because that's what the waiter likes.
11:21Let's check it out and some more food.
11:23All right, the spring rolls have come out, and that's some chili sauce right there.
11:29All right, I ate all of those spring rolls, and now we're on to the Tom Yum soup.
11:34So Tom Yum usually has lemongrass, some sort of protein, and the curry paste can be something like a tomato or coconut.
11:42It just depends, but it's an original of Thailand.
11:45Tom Yum soup.
11:46In this one here, you can see some bamboo.
11:49You can see mushrooms, chicken, basil, a little bit of lemongrass.
11:57It's good for a rainy day.
11:59Well, we got an anchovy Caesar salad.
12:02It's good.
12:05Oh, wow.
12:11Thank you so much.
12:12So here we have some chicken tawa with some garlic naan and rice.
12:19Salad time.
12:30All right, we have a grilled lobster.
12:33Let's see if they got some butter.
12:34Yeah.
12:36Some other sauce.
12:37Some lemon.
12:40Put some lemon on there.
12:44All right.
12:45Put some lemon on the potato.
12:50Well, I got the lobster meat out.
12:51Now we're going to try it.
12:54All right, I'm going to dip it in here.
12:55This is actually kind of spicy.
12:59Mmm, delicious.
13:00That spice is really spicy, though.
13:02Rock climbing is very popular around Krabi because of these limestone cliffs that you see all around.
13:08So if you're into rock climbing or if you want to learn rock climbing, now's your chance while you're here in Krabi.
13:15Prices may vary.
13:16You can look online to see what the prices are, and then you can also inquire when you get here.
13:21Typically, the rock climbing happens around Rele Beach.
13:26Another thing to do is get a body massage or a foot massage, a facial or a haircut.
13:31And in the evening time when it starts raining, it's really easy to just stop in and get a massage.
13:35You're helping out the local economy by paying 300 baht for a foot massage, and you're also getting out of that rain.
13:43And when you come to Krabi town, you can take a picture with the crab and that cool mountain.
13:48Yeah, hey, it's a mud crab statue that people like to take pictures with, including myself.
13:52Yeah!
13:55And this is actually the ferry port to go to Phi Phi Island.
14:00When the boats arrive, this is where they arrive at.
14:06Next up, let's do a four island tour.
14:08And this beautiful tropical island we're arriving at is called Koh Pota, Pota Island. Check it out.
14:13Check it out.
14:18Yeah, the four island tour is around 500 to 800 baht per person for a tour with a longtail boat, or you can actually get a private boat.
14:26The islands include Koh Pota, Chicken Island, Tup Island, and then Phra Nang Cave Beach.
14:31The islands are all very close to each other.
14:33Again, this is another place you want to be at low tide because I saw starfish and other animals underneath as we were driving around.
14:42Really cool to see what's down there.
14:45Maybe 5 to 10 feet depth with the water.
14:48And in case you're wondering why they call it Chicken Island, well, it's because of this big rock spear that tips out of the edge that looks like a chicken head.
15:00And for those of you looking for a hike up a mountain, you can go to the Dragon Crest Mountain here.
15:05You can see very dramatic scenery out there.
15:12Dragon Crest is around an hour to an hour and a half away from Ao Nang.
15:18Next up is a relaxing day here at the pool. Many different pools at these resorts.
15:27So he's saying there's sharks in the water here. Small sharks, but...
15:31What are they, blacktip?
15:32Yeah.
15:33Okay.
15:35Yeah, they're little baby blacktip sharks, so don't be too concerned.
15:38Don't be too concerned.
15:39But where there's babies, there's got to be mama, right?
15:42But I mean, as you can see, the water is amazing to swim in. Look at the color of this water. It is see-through, crystalline color.
15:49Really awesome to be in the water with all these fish and just enjoying the environment.
15:59Kayaking is also available around here, so if you're looking to get out there on the water, do some kayaking.
16:05If you guys like to see more of what's going on behind the scenes with these travels, whether it be Krabi or where I'm at now in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,
