00:00Do you have a bunch of like meetings at work?
00:03We do we do have meetings most of them actually, you know are online the hardest thing about your work day
00:10Probably balancing meetings
00:12Especially it's like a really cram-packed day meeting after meeting after meeting and kind of deliberating between like
00:18when I can get breaks in between do you feel like these meetings are kind of skippable or
00:25How come you know me so well?
00:27I do I do
00:29You're not the only one that hates meetings and author Jennifer Moss has a classic solution to meeting fatigue
00:35We've gone from 45 billion
00:38video conferencing minutes annually in 2019 and that shot up to
00:44157
00:46Percent in one year. We're now at around
00:51252 billion meeting minutes a year
00:54There is no
00:56Reason why we've had to increase that meeting that that number of minutes of meetings. Yes
01:02we're using video conferencing and
01:06We it's beneficial. It's been great
01:09I mean it got us through the pandemic, but it's not
01:12Really helping us be efficient and productive and we're measuring productivity and organizations are questioning
01:18Why they're seeing this lack of productivity or disengagement
01:22It's because we're over meeting and we need to get back people are pulling themselves off of video conferencing
01:29Not only because they're distracted but because they feel bored and they also feel
01:35Disconnected or they don't want to speak up. So we're losing high-performing people that are just not comfortable in these situations
01:42so a lot around that to unpack but essentially video conferencing is
01:48We should be resetting that
01:50Re-establishing rules around that and then we also need to look at finding other
01:55modalities of communication like getting on a good old-fashioned phone call and having a chat out that way and
02:02Instead of getting on on video conferencing
02:07Excuse me
