13 ON YOUR SIDE Forecast - Enhanced risk for severe weather overnight
Transcript
00:00A humid day out there after those noisy and I gosh the rain was so heavy
00:11overnight woke me up. Yeah and it sounds like that's not the only round we're
00:13going to get of this. George what can we expect for tonight? Well round three will
00:17be perhaps as heavy as the one last night that woke up a lot of folks and
00:21the rain was gone by the time the Sun came up and that may be the case here
00:25again tonight plus the possibility of some stronger winds. 13 weather ball
00:30tonight is red. We have warmer weather ahead here tomorrow and it's also
00:35blinking bright. We have showers and thunderstorms inside around the region.
00:39We got hazy sunshine across the area but we'll see storm clouds develop later on
00:45this evening as they move on in. Right now nothing going on. All of that
00:49rain moved on out after about 3 45 4 o'clock in the morning and then we had
00:53the flooding rains and the flooded streets but here comes round two of the
00:57storms. Already a severe thunderstorm watch for Iowa. Portions of Wisconsin and
01:02Illinois well to our west. Perhaps some of those will be extended to our east
01:06later on tonight. So you need to just stay weather aware as this storm system
01:10moves right toward lower Michigan. Eventually it's going to pull down this
01:14cold front. It's going to take a day or two to happen. That won't happen until
01:17Wednesday morning. Tonight we have a enhanced risk for severe weather from I-
01:2396 southward. That's a three out of five and a slight risk all the way up to US
01:2910 as those storms develop and push through Wisconsin into Illinois. We're
01:34gonna be on the northern edge of this and you can see this is between about
01:37eight and two a.m. This is where the storms will be as they push down through
01:42Illinois and Indiana. We're gonna be on that northern edge of that. Could
01:45produce those heavy downpours as we talked about and a very vivid lightning
01:50show. But this is by eight o'clock in the morning. All of the precipitation is
01:54well to the east over into Pennsylvania and down toward the Ohio River Valley.
01:58So this will be a quick moving system and the main threats is we're going to
02:02talk about are the high winds and some heavy downpours. Speaking of heavy
02:06downpours, this is where the bullseye for the heavy rain will be from Madison
02:10down through Chicago South Bend. We may get about three quarters of an inch
02:13here in Grand Rapids, so not as much as we saw last night. But the area rivers
02:17are starting to come up and any added water into the watersheds are going to
02:21continue to keep those water levels going up. That's very important
02:24for the folks over in Ionia along the Grand River and especially the Ionia
02:29Free Fork there that's going on. Dew point forecast, when is it gonna get
02:33comfortable? Well we're gonna drop from around 70 here tomorrow well down into
02:37the 50s through the weekend. Yes, some relief. You might actually be able to
02:40open your windows from time to time and then later on next week dew points will
02:44return along with that summer-like weather. Long-range outlook for the
02:48period from July 21st through the 25th has an equal chance for warmer or cooler
02:54temperatures over our part of the country and also an equal chance for
02:57more or less precipitation during that same time period. Forecast then for
03:02tonight, you can expect showers and thunderstorms to develop along the lake
03:06shore after about 9 o'clock. Upper 60s and low 70s light south wind except when
03:11the storms go through and they may gust quite a bit higher. Overnight lows around
03:1570 to the north with showers and storms lesser chance for severe weather here
03:19and the greatest risk for severe weather will be from Grand Rapids overnight south
03:22overnight lows in the low 70s. 13 on your side forecast drop from 84 to 79 on
03:30Wednesday we have a chance of a shower Wednesday back to down to 74 on Thursday
03:34kind of a cool day with the average high of 83 and as you can see through the
03:38weekend will be a little bit cooler than average but very comfortable with
03:42low humidity so that will be a very very cool as far as our weather tonight
03:47just stay weather aware yes we certainly will we'll keep an eye on that and of
03:51course tune in to our app and onto our channel and George let's talk about this
03:55some of you at home might have noticed a different look during our forecast yeah
03:59we're now showcasing a different way to keep you alerted on weather
04:03impacts we'll talk about when the storms will hit what their impacts will
04:08be and what you need to stay safe during those times of strong weather
04:14impact events all right thanks so much George
