00:00Working on this film, there was so much to contend with.
00:04Battling Currents, keeping up with the camera boat.
00:06All right, take shot, guys. Here we go.
00:07And I kept thinking, just do another two strokes.
00:09Just do another two strokes.
00:11I've decided to swim the English Channel.
00:14No. I'm shaking.
00:15I wasn't asking.
00:18Young Woman in the Sea is about a young woman called Trudy Edley
00:22who decides that the big feat she wants to do in her life
00:25is swim the English Channel.
00:27The Channel is 21 miles across.
00:29Currents changing every few hours.
00:31I honestly believe she'll die in that water.
00:34Daisy Ridley is the perfect person to play this character.
00:37She has a lot of willpower.
00:40She was very passionate about the project.
00:42She trained for over three months with an Olympic swimmer.
00:45My coach, the amazing Siobhan Marie O'Connor,
00:48the first session I had with her, I swam 25 meters.
00:52By the end of filming, I swam for probably 150 meters.
00:57She was just tremendous,
00:58especially when we got into the open ocean
01:00where she was basically in the water at 60, 61 degrees.
01:04It was a physical endeavor,
01:06but it very much felt mental by the end of it.
01:09Keep going! Stay strong!
01:13It's such an extraordinary thing she did.
01:15And I think that's what's really beautiful about the character of Trudy
01:18and why I've loved watching Daisy play her.
01:22It was hard to not get swept away in it all.
01:26It really hit home what she did and how important it was.
01:30And I feel really excited to share it.
01:33I came all this way.
01:35Might as well see England.
